I have stayed there a number of times now. Really enjoy it. They should keep the nice restaurant open more often!

I was extremely pleased with the facility and its staff. The rooms were nicely decorated, clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff was especially helpful and were able to answer any questions we had. This was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it to friends and will plan on staying there again upon my return to Edinburgh.

Near airport but pretty far from Edinburgh downtown (you need a car to get there).. Lovely, cosy atmosphere, lovely for a couple. Food tasty and not outrageously priced. Bed pretty hard and uncomfortable, but otherwise just what I'd hope for to feel like I was in the Scottish countryside.

food and bar was crowded and very expensive. 20$ glass of wine! We left the hotel and went tot eh Bridge Inn close by and had an excellent meal! Room was nice but a big hotel stay so dont go on the weekend!

The hotel itself was lovely in every way. Room was spacious and comfortable, grounds were beautiful. Part of the "Handpicked Hotels"group which is all wonderful country homes/estates that have become hotels! The restaurant and service was a different story. I was there mid week so the "fine dining"restaurant wasn't open. The bistro had a limited menu […] but with decent variety. I saw nothing on the menu I thought would be "kid friendly" at all. We ordered a malt whisky, it took 10 min for the waitress to come back and tell us they were out of one of them. My husband ordered a different one and 15 min passed with still no drink. It didn't get any better after we finally got our drinks and ordered dinner. They just didn't seem to have their act together at all. Pricey and located in proimity to airport but far from city center. Wonderful otherwise. Fixtures are charmingly antiquated but fully functional. Free WiFi works well. Breakfast are complimentary and are to die for.

The pool & spa services were the best part of my stay. The room was really nice but the robe was very hard and the mattress was low quality. There was a concave on the right side where it was obvious many people had slept. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again but I wouldn't pay top dollar for it.

We arrived shortly after the kitchen closed and were able to get a decent meal through room service. The hotel is beautiful as are the grounds. The staff and service were quite good and very nice. A beautiful country estate transformed into a warm, wonderful hotel. The service was superb and the food in the restaurant excellent. The room was comfortable and very well appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and would love to go back and spend more time.

If you are planning to stay here as a convenient hop to the airport, DON'T. This hotel is way off the street and difficult to enter. When heading to the airport, you have to go way out of the way and circle around. Like others, I schedule a taxi to arrive at 4:00 am and at 4:05 the hotel finally called again. The service was excellent. We choose this hotel because of the proximity to the airport. When it came time for us to retun our rental car to the airport, they had someone drive the hotel vavn to the rental drop off so that we could follow them. The waited for us to return the car and drove us back to the hotel.

Beautiful hotel, while we were there they hosted 3 weddings in 2 days and at no stage were we "bothered" by drunken revellers! Arrived at the hotel at 1530hr only to find room not available - excuse being that they'd had a number of late departures and therefore room service late. No apology or attempt to help resolve situation. Shrug of the shoulders really. When we did occupy the room, the bathroom door needed a hard pull to open with a grinding noise. Then when taking a […] shower the drain could not cope and flooded the floor - I stress that the shower was not on full flow at any time. My family (2 adults + 2 children) stayed at Norton last weekend to attend the Scottish Kennel Club show across the road. Upon arrival, we were seen to very quickly and shown to our room. The room was of an excellent size to accomodate the family, the sofa bed was comfy for the children and the main bed large. The room was superbly clean and the tv in […] the bathroom was a welcome surprise. We used the spa area and pool and it was excellent, the pool very warm and the jacuzzi very relaxing. My wife had a massage which she found very relaxing. Now the best bit: we stayed for food, the prices are reasonable / good for the food and quality on offer and the food was fantastic. We have eaten in many good places inc Gary Rhodes etc etc and this sits alongside the best, it was brilliant and thoroughly enjoyed by the family. The kids even had banana splits for desert, made even nicer when we were told the ice cream was home made. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would recommend to anyone staying in the area. Although turn down service had been requested at reception this was not done. Supervision of the pool area was poor. Staff allowed unsupervised children to cause havoc until I got out off the pool and went to the bar area to get someone. Not as good as previous stays.

We booked a classic room via Expedia but were upgraded to a large suite on arrival - excellent! We had a family event over two days. On day one we clearly had the 'A' team. They were excellent, especially Callum for whom nothing was too much to request. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and evening dinner-dance. The food and service were top rate. Tom, […] the porter, was also excellent. Our second day, a Sunday, they had the 'B' team on. Service at our special family afternoon tea was not so good. Also, in the bar we were served with luke warm coffee (at £3.50 each!), and service was very slow, though they were not overly busy. The hotel itself is a very interesting building with a variety of room types from the suites in the old building to modern executive rooms in the new wing, all set in beautifully kept grounds. The old building could do with some new carpets as stair carpets are becoming a little threadbare in places. Also there is a damp musty smell in the old building.
