This hotel has everything you would expect from a top rated hotel during a business or leisure trip. Great location, close to many small local restaurants and large tourist attractions. The service has cordial, and the room had all the comforts including turn service. Don't expect to get much work done a the hotel using their internet service- paid […] or not. They have data restrictions that made it impossible for me to download outlook emails, or send attachment even with the "premium" paid wifi. Their free wifi only lets you surf, but no data can be downloaded. Overall, the hotel left me with a very good impression and if visiting Madrid for pleasure I would definitely stay here again. Not sure if this is common in City Centers, but this hotel only allowed for 90 consecutive minutes of basic wifi per day. So, if you have 2 people in the room, and these days people travel with more than just one device (I had my droid, iPad and laptop with me), I was only able to connect once a day on one device and if I don't use the full 90 minutes, […] I lost them. That was a bit annoying, given that it's a 5-star hotel with no hassles otherwise. On top of that, they managed to charge me 23 Euros for a breakfast on the day I slept in until noon. I don't generally sleepwalk, but I'm pretty sure I would have remembered a 23 Euro breakfast, if I had it. Location was perfect, walking distance to pretty much anything you want to see. best location in city and lots of national police because congress of deputies across the street. Easy walk everywhere especailly museums and parks and two main squares. Rated very highly among all hotels in Madrid. Modern and clean. Not a family hotel. Better for a couple. Breakfasts if included are great, anything you want. lighting in room a bit […] poor at bedside and overhead and some rooms have balcony and others look into uninteresting courtyard. if you area tourist you will never mind that. Only maddening issue is wifi. they offer free wifi every day for 90 minutes but you must use all minutes in one go. Cannot save the minutes and use throughtout the day and you need a user name and password each day as a different one. Cannot understand the reason for creating such a frustration for guests. Cannot for the life of me understand this when one can go across street to Westin, superb hotel and stand outside on the street and collect their wifi anytime. Why a hotel would frustrate a guest when so many hotels all around the world offer it free everywhere anytime. The people were super nice. We asked for a two separate connecting rooms when we arrived at the hotel since the family room had a sofa bed. The manager gave us an upgrade with a nominal fee. The hotel is very conveniently located - just a short walk to the Prado. We were offered a "special" deal to include breakfast with our stay. Breakfast is usually served from 7:00 a.m., but because it was a bank holiday on our last day they didn't open until 7:30 am. This hotel overall is pretty good, and the location is excellent. My only complaint was that the room was too hot, and the air-conditioner didn't do anything. It was already after midnight, so I didn't bother complaining, but when I checked out the next morning I told the staff about the problem. Considering how much I paid for the room (and that it's supposedly a five-star hotel), I thought this response was ridiculous. The location of the hotel is excellent. We booked a Family Room which had two levels. The lower and upper levels had full bathrooms which was a very big plus. I would have rated cleanliness as 5/5 all except that the upper bathroom had a not too clean odor. The lower level had a sleeper sofa which was very comfortable (unlike other hotel sleeper sofas). There […] was a balcony on the second floor of our room that was very large but our view was to the inside courtyard of the hotel, so there was not much view. The breakfast buffet was very nice. If you pay for it upon checking in, it is only 14 Euros but if you pay for it after the fact, it is 29 Euros per person. So, I certainly recommend paying for it before. We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The location was just up from the Palace Hotel. We could see the Thyssen Museum out our window. The Prado was just across the street and Starbucks was just a short walk. Very clean and very quiet. They provided robes, slippers, a chocolate every night, red rose, mini bar, toiletries and hair dryer. The only […] thing I was not happy with was the wifi. They gave you 60 free uninterrupted minutes of wifi in your room on your personal laptop every 24 hours. A computer was provided for free use in the lobby for all guests. All the other hotels we stayed in on this trip provided free unlimited wifi so I was disappointed that the only 5 star hotel we stayed in did not do the same. The staff were very helpful and spoke English. They made restaurant reservations for us locally and when we traveled to Segovia. They also recommended an excellent restaurant just around the corner that provided delicious food. We also found a laundromat very close by to wash our clothes. The tourist bus stop for both routes is also just a short walk away. It was a very easy walk to the Sol area also for shopping or to get on the metro. Read more

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights and it was wonderful. The location is incredible, 2 blocks from el Prado, one block from the bus station and 1 block from great restaurants and bars. Rooms big and clean with lots of closet spaces. Cons: expensive internet connection and not very friendly staff.

Great hotel up from the Paseo del Prado for first time visitors to Madrid. Centrally located, good if visiting museums and for shopping. I had a beautiful, spacious, bi-level room with an interior view. Stayed for 3 nights. Hotel staff was lovely and accommodating.

We're from Nashville, TN, USA, and made the really smart decision to stay 1 night at this hotel on Feb 4 2012. It is an absolutely wonderful hotel. We had a standard room on the 4th floor that had 2 levels, one for sleeping and another like a small lounge/living room. The floor to ceiling windows overlooked the small plaza and it was like having a real-life […] picture postcard to look at. Stunning view!!! The staff was welcoming. The food in the restaurant really top-notch (expensive, but top quality). The big mosaics in their lobby and common areas are beautiful. They allowed us to have a discount for the breakfast buffet. All in all, next time in Madrid, we will stay here! We recommend everyone who contemplates staying in Madrid to consider Villa Real Hotel. This hotel is located a few blocks from the Prado Museum and Cibeles Square. There is a hop on/off bus stop across the street. We used the bus to see the sights farther from the hotel. We walked to the Prado and ate at some of the tapas places in the neighborhood. If you don't mind walking a few block you can go to Puerta de Sol, and check out the shop-filled […] streets in that neighborhood. I am in Madrid about 3 times a year and would not consider staying anywhere other than the Villa Real. The location is excellent; the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped, and the staff is super friendly. It is also less expensive than its neighbors the Ritz and the Palace.

I was not sure if I had left it at the Villa Real Hotel. I called them and explained the situation. The room was so spacious we did not realize that it was only the standard room. The bed in this room was not comfortable. My partner and I both had a restless night. The only problem we had was that the air conditioner never cooled the room as much as we wanted and it quit cooling completely on the last night. Villa Real is a very good hotel in a primo location in Madrid. The rooms are comfortable, and the service is very good. My only two qualms are that they only provide 1 hour of wifi service per day for free (and it is one consecutive hour) and they charge four times the amount for breakfast, if you choose to eat there than if you go to one of the fine […] places (including a Starbucks) that are very nearby.
