Ireland’s oldest university, Trinity College is an Oxbridge oasis in the heart of Dublin. Visitors flock here to view the Book of Kells, just one of the treasures of the magnificent library, and visit the Dublin Experience for a multi-media history of the city. We stayed at this hotel first night in Dublin, then went on a bus tour all over, then returned to this hotel for 3 nights. So glad we did! It is far enough away to get decent sleep unlike many hotels that we have heard about. It is close enough and in a nice neighborhood to walk anywhere.....and we did. Hotel staff very helpful with everything we asked of them from directions to extra pillows. I would absolutely choose this hotel again!

Loved this hotel for the decor and the nice room. The location is not completely ideal if you intend to walk to Temple Bar or the Guinness brewery. Also, we needed to make a few phone calls from our room and the phones did not work. I repeatedly asked the front desk about it and they said the phones should work fine. The 3rd day they finally acknowledged that they had simply forgotten to enable the phones in our room via the computer at the front desk... easy fix that should have been caught right away.

If you can get the kind of deal we did (~35% of what was posted in the room), then this hotel is a steal. Very old fashioned furnishings (which I liked), comfortable beds, and quiet rooms on the second floor. Internet is only available through the TV which was very annoying, but at least it was cheap compared to what we'd payed at other hotels in Ireland. Staff was polite (which isn't so common in Dublin) and a special shout-out ought to go to housekeeping.

I stayed two nights at this location, and then stayed the third night across the square. Nothing particularly bad to say - but about the only good thing was that they seem to take a lot of care in polishing the brass around the hotel, especially in the lobby. It gives you something to look at when you arrive if they spend 25 minutes on the phone, instead of checking you in. Overall, I would say it is a good value for the money - but if the O'Callagan hotel across Merrion Square is only a few more euros a night, drop the money and you will be amazed at how much more responsive the staff are.

Older hotel with small rooms per US standards but clean, quiet and confortable. Bathroom ceilling did have some mold on it otherwise very clean. Excellent location, walking distance to all major tourist areas, and buses. Breakfast was not included in our room rate, looked very good but expensive. Many small coffee/bagel stores in 5 minute walk. Would return again, save money on upscale hotel for other things.

Great location. Easy walk to Dublin city attractions/bus. Not a luxuary hotel but for the time we spent in the room it was fine. Rooms clean and quiet, small by US standards but had soft towels comfortable beds and linen. Hotel staff friendly and very helpful. Only negative, breakfast not included in our room rate, looked wonderful but expensive if paying seperate. Lots of coffee houses in neighborhood so worked out fine. Would return to hotel if going to Dublin again.

Location is great. Near Temple Bar, but far enough away so as not to be hectic. The staff was really nice. The hotel was clean and the room was nice. I did not like using the bathroom because of mildew on the shower curtain and the ceiling! A pretty easy and inexpensive thing to rectify, so I find it inexcusable. I would also avoid the breakfast. 16 euro??!!? I don't know what the scrambled eggs were made of, but it was not eggs, that is for sure. Even with the bathroom issue, I doubt you couldfind a better place at this price.

We booked this hotel, when we went to check in, they told us they overbooked, and had put us up in their hotel across the street, which was an "upgrade". We went across the street, but it was no upgrade, we had previously stayed at a different O'Callahan (Alexander), the rooms in the Davenport were smaller, the hallway narrower, we were not asked if we wanted help with our luggage. The staff was nice, but I don't think the Davenport was worth it.

The overall appearance of the hotel is very nice. Rooms however are a little worn around the edges. A/C did not work in room, even though it was cool/rainy most of the time outside, the inside was very stuffy. we had to leave the window open to even get a little comfort. Some of the same problems noted in other reviews also(lift broken on arrival but promptly fixed, unable to make room charge in lounge on 2 occasions-system down). Staff is very pleasant and helpful, arrived very early and allowed to check in as room had just been cleaned.

We stayed here for several nights around the St. Patrick's festivities. The room was very quiet, in spite of facing the street where carnival rides were in full session only 100 m away. The beds were comfy, and it had a sparkling bathroom with gorgeous wood and granite. Since we left early in the morning and returned late at night, it seems like we hardly used the room. It was a fairly long hike to the bus stop from the airport. The bus stop to the airport that the staff recommended was close, but actually was still on the going-out portion of the loop, so it took 40 minutes more than we thought to get to the terminal (we luckily allotted extra time because of major construction at the airport). We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, but went to several of the coffee shops nearby (thanks to other reviewers!). I think if you made it the major meal of the day, it might be worth the price; but if you don't eat much, it seems too expensive to justify.

I have stayed at this hotel before so I was familiar with the area. My room was in the back and was very noisy at night. The bed spread had stains on the inside that looked like they had been there for awhile. The floor didn't look like it was not vacumned thoroughly. The hotel staff were very helpful and nice. The TV had only news stations (mostly from England)on it and if you wanted to watch a movie, you had to pay for it.
