"Great Santa Rosa Location"
Stayed at this hotel exactly one year ago. We like the hotel for its great location. Easy access to variety of Santa Rosa restaurants and easy access to the highways to wine country. Hotel room was clean and pleasing but nothing special. However, all of the hallways, foyers and access points reeked of the smell of cleaning solutions. Honestly, most […] hospitals smell less antiseptic! Spent 3 nights and the smell did not dissipate. Also the carpeting throughout our building was faded and worn. I do not recall the facility looking as tired when we visited last year. On the plus side they have just upgraded their internet service and now provide free basic wifi access to all. I called ahead to ask if they had a non-pets room, as I am highly allergic to pets. I was told yes, and that I will be accommodated. The room was nice, bedding and towels were clean, nevertheless, the carpet in room was very dirty, and fool of pet hairs. It looked as the rooms never get vacuumed. We found this location to be surprisingly comfortable. We chose a room with a lanai and it really opened the room up like a home. "Not worth the price, even at a discount"
We came here for a ladies' college reunion. Generally, the price is just way too high (even with the hotels.com discount) for what you get. The hotel overlooks a highway, and isn't really in walking distance of any wineries, which is a huge bummer. Additionally, it is just a HUGE hotel, and seems to be a place that hosts a lot of weddings. There happened […] to be a wedding happening the weekend we were there, and there were just tons and tons of people sitting around the hot tub all weekend long, sloppily leaving their booze around. And no one from the hotel staff was there to tell them to clean up after themselves. Also, when we had questions for the hotel staff about winery suggestions, etc., they didn't really seem to know a lot. They even gave us tickets for a 2-for-1 wine/cheese tasting, but when we got to the winery they told us they had needed 24 hour notice for the cheese. Nice landscape view with beautiful buildings and ample parking. Room was clean and fresh. I loved the pool area and the jacuzzi, but the pool is not heated so we stayed most of the time in the jacuzzi. "Not the cleanest Hilton"
Quieter than most yet reasonably convenient, this hotel is very spread out over the large grounds. The area nearby is mostly nice with some notable exceptions. The view from some rooms is ugly storage buildings and there are some abandoned graffiti tagged buildings nearby, in stark contrast to the nice park and nice office building that are also nearby. […] My room was not as clean as I expected and repeated attempts to get the maid to clean it (with notes left with a nice tip) were ineffective. I should have spoken to the management instead. The Hotel kinda had and old people smell in the hallway, but the room itself did not smell bad. We were very pleased with the service at the Hilton Sonoma Wine Country. The check-in staff were very friendly - when I requested a room near the pool for our kids, they happily upgraded us to a pool-view room (normally an extra $10). Later in the evening, I asked for some paper plates for some pizza we picked up (yes, I forgot to bring some!). The […] front desk sent me to the restaurant, who told me we didn't have to use paper plates - they would be happy to give me real plates, with napkins and cutlery to boot! Finally, the night before we left, I asked at the restaurant/bar if they could fill some water bottles for me, since the day before we had found the tap water to contain a lot of chlorine. For a family of 4, we go through 1.5-2 gallons of water a day. One of the staff very happily filled about 5 large bottles with filtered water for us. all in all, they always provided service with a smile. Our room was cheerful and clean, though the carpet looked like it could use a shampooing. The pool was quite nice, though the hot tub jets were not working. They ran out of towels, so I phoned the desk and asked for more - it did take about 20-30 minutes. The fitness center was kind of small - 4 cardio machines and some free weights - unfortunately, no resistance machines.
