This is a good choice if you need/prefer a full service hotel. Just remember, that's what you're paying for. From a room comfort / location standpoint there's no big difference between this hotel and other nearby places that charge a lot less because they're not full service. But if you envision needing room service, bell boy, using the concierge desk, like having an in-hotel restaurant and gift shop, etc. then you'll be satisfied. If you're normally a budget traveler (like me) then you may be slightly annoyed by having to pay for parking, feeling like you have to tip the guy opening the door, etc.

The gentleman who took care of us was so nice and was able to rent us the room. the only problem was that one of the beds was undone looked like someone had slept on it, but I was so tired n didnt complained Instead I slept on that one n gave the clean one to my daughter. also there were no big towels, so I had to called front desk & ask for more & they were nice & brought some . Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 5, 2009
We stayed here because of the great price for the hotel and I'd read previous reviews about taking the free hotel shuttle to the airport, then using public transportation (BART). Sounded great. However, the short trip from the airport to the first train stop is $5. You can go anywhere else for under that. We were going to Berkeley and had to pay $18/person round trip. I would have been better off paying more for a closer hotel. Great place to stay if not using a ton of public transportation. The hotel was very nice and the service was excellent.

For the price, this hotel was not a good value. There were just too many negatives. It is a 40-50 year old hotel that has been updated in a modern/Asian style. The huge dark-wood-paneled lobby has many nooks and crannys, a tour of which revealed several damaged and missing objects d' art. We had lunch at the restaurant, and for California, the menu choices were only pseudo-healthy. The lunch service was rushed and impersonal. The food offered in the conference room was also dissappointlingly unhealthy:super-sugary, cheap pastries and then greasy pototo chips and sour-cream dip. The worst part of my stay was the mildewy smell of the room, which put the ever-so-slightly creepy ambiance over the edge to uncomfortable for me. I asked for a fridge and microwave in the room, both of which were quite battered and missing parts, which spoiled the ambiance of the room, which was otherwise in good shape. And paying extra for parking is just terrible, besides the caged feeling of being let in and out of a gate by a guard. On the plus side, the room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and most of the service was professional and warm.

Everything about the hotel was very good. We were surprised by the hotel Chef who came out and talked to us. All of the rooms come with 2 double beds or 1 King Bed (and no pull out couch). So a married couple has very hard time fitting onto one double bed, if the kid(s) sleep on the other bed. If you get the King bed, there is no where for the kid(s) to sleep, except the floor.

I booked a "Bay View" room, but it should have been describe as a "Parking lot and adjacent hotel view". In addition, the 'self-service gift shop' was severely inadequate, and when I went to buy a certain latex product I forgot to pack, they referred me to the hotel down the road. Other amenities? Pool? No. Jacuzzi? No. I figured the service would have to compensate for my bad day so far...but when I cut myself shaving the front desk informed me that they don't deliver band-aids to rooms. I'd have to come down to the front desk and use their first aid kit. I was thoroughly disappointed in this hotel, and wouldn't recommend it as there are much nicer hotels down the road.

The San Francisco airport is two hours from our house so we stayed at the Doubletree the night before our flight left. The beds were comfy and the hotel was clean, but you had to pay for overnight parking which we did not know; I would have chosen a different hotel that had free parking, since there are so many near SFO that do. It's sort of like paying $10 for that warm cookie you get at check-in. Overall, not bad, but don't be surprised when you have to pay to park your car!

Beats $200+ in SF if you are willing to be transported by BART or bus into the City. Use the money on food and gifts, if your stay is longer than 3 days.
