1886 Café & Bakery - Lobby-level café and bakery with viewing window and mahogany bar. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, late-night desserts, beer, wine, cocktails. Sunday brunch menu until mid-afternoon. Open daily early morning to late evening.

Driskill Bar - Texas-themed lounge with stuffed longhorn head over the fireplace, cowhide couches, faux-snakeskin wallpaper. Live piano music Monday–Saturday, early evening to late evening. Signature drinks, Texas beers, extensive wine list, casual menu of appetizers and light entrees.

Recreation

The 24-hour health club, located on the mezzanine level, has a fitness area overlooking the street. In addition to five weight machines, guests can work out on elliptical trainers, treadmills, stationary bikes, and stair steppers. Facilities include a stretching room and men's and women's locker rooms with steam rooms. Cold water and chilled face cloths are provided. Massage treatments are available by appointment (surcharge).

Town Lake, five blocks from the hotel, offers a 10-mile hiking and biking path along the Colorado River. Seasonal recreation includes canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboating. Golf courses are within 10 miles.

Be forewarned - Room service for night is ONLY the choice of 3 sandwiches and 2 salads. That's it!!! Even then our order was brought up wrong!!!!! And subpar! Subway would have been tastier.

Our stay at the Driskill was a nice, pleasant one for our girls getaway. Location was perfect. We did not have a car but were in a great spot for walking and catching the L1 and M1 bus lines to get to the south congress area. My only complaint was the concierge service. Less than desirable and was unaware of restaurants and music events in the area […] that we inquired about. The front desk service was competent but not very hospitable. However, the doormen were friendly and gentlemanly. I would definitely stay again but for the money I expected better service. Read more

We had a terrific two-night stay at the Driskill. The lobby and lounge are incredible - it was so tempting to just stay and relax there in the lovely decor instead of seeing the rest of Austin. However, the location was so great that we could walk to everything we wanted to see, including the Capitol, the University of Texas campus, the Texas State […] History Museum, and, of course, Sixth Street. Our room was huge, with ceilings that must have been close to 18 feet high. We requested a quiet room, and the staff graciously granted our request. All of the staff at the Driskill were very professional and courteous, and they were eager to make sure we had a nice stay. The only thing missing was a fitness room, but with all the walking we did, that wasn't a huge loss. We highly recommend this hotel! Read more

This was our first time at the Driskell. It was a treat to stay at such an old historic hotel. That being said we were slightly dissapointed with the upkeep of the hotel. The lights did not work properly and the ice machines on two floors were out. The noise from the staff working in the hallways was very very lound. the rooms had no cotton q tips shower cap which was unusual for that type of hotel no turn down service the staff is not knowledgeable about the citie events which was a problem for driving

A very classy hotel with all of the amenities. You will need to valet park, but it's free and your car is quickly retrieved by the friendly valet staff. My wife and I had a great time, the hotel was very nice and the rooms were very comfortable. The hotel was tucked right down town off of 6th street an easy walk to lots of restaurants and bars in the area. We wish we could have stayed longer, maybe next time.

Small bathrooms, the shower was extremely tight and very low pressure from the shower. rooms are on the smaller side as well but was able to get upgraded to a bigger room. very friendly staff and helpful which made up for some of the issues.

I've stayed in a number of historic hotels but The Driskill ranks at the top. It's a beautiful hotel that is well maintained. We stayed in the historic section in a suite and it was just wonderful. Typically, old hotels like this are a sight to see in the lobby and bar but then the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Not here thank goodness. Be careful with valet parking your vehicle.. Whatever garage they parked my F-150 truck in was to short and it scraped the top of my truck. Other than that it was all FIRST class, especially room service breakfast!!!.

I was very disappointed with the hotel, it needs renovation, the elevators are really slow, the room was tiny and not even one drawer to put your clothing. For that price you have many much better options in Austin

Towels were hard like sandpaper. Toilet paper was super thin. Bed sheets came off and we woke up sleeping directly on the mattress. IMO, a hotel has 3 simple jobs: good sheets, good toilet paper, good towels. The Driskill failed in all three categories. Waste of $200+.

Nice hotel, overall. Beautiful lobby and bar, great food and service. Rooms are al ittle dated but very clean. Hotel charged our credit cards twice for extras, a bit of a hassle trying to deal with this. Front desk staff should be trained better to perform payment tasks.

Nice public areas, but private rooms and hallways need updating. Plumbing was so terribly noisy that whole pipes shook minutes after flushing the toilet. You could also hear your neighbors flushing as well as their morning wake up calls. Not so cool when you are there for vacation. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful though.

Our room was very noisy all night long. One night we were kept awake from 3-4 in the morning! Very thin walls. Would have liked a coffee maker in the room. We had a room overlooking an air conditioner which was pretty ugly. Loved the hotel in general
