Although we arrived very late and left very early, the receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful with both hot and cold food. I wish we had more time to enjoy what the hotel had to offer and would definitely return again.

We were very happy with the King and 2 Queen Suite room for our family of 5. We will be staying there again. Only area we found we didn't think was very well kept was the pool area, but the rooms were very clean.

I had a nice time at the Clarion Hotel Beachfront. I had a nice view to Mackinaw Island from the balcony and if I turned just right, I could see the Mackinaw Bridge. The room was comforatble and more classy than I usually stay at. I had nice swims in the pool and the room was cleaned daily. They try to be conciencious with how many towels are used and […] are polite about asking for the dirty towels to be left on the floor to be picked up. The breakfast is nicer than the usual continential of toast, bagels, and donuts. They actually made scrambled eggs and had sausage patties and mixed fruit available. The location is close to the tourist sights, but far enough away that you don't get all the traffic. You could walk down the sidewalk a mile (or so) to get to downtown. Parking is a bit of a problem when they are really busy and they share the parking lot drive with Shepler's Ferry, so you have to be careful when you leave your parking spot. Handicapped patrons will have to be able to walk a bit to move around the upper rooms, but the do have one elevator in one branch of rooms. Over all, an enjoyable stay. Read more

Booked a room with 2 Queen beds. Room was large & clean and beds were comfortable. My wife enjoyed having extra pillows. We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, though you do have to walk outside to get to it. Breakfast room had plenty of seating and good food. The staff was very helpful. It is a beautiful location within walking distance of the ferrys to the island and the shopping district. The after Labor Day rates were very fair. Cable TV channels allowed us to watch the Detroit Tigers and Fox News in the evening. Breakfast was outstanding!

The Clarion was perfect. We had a two room suite, with one king and two queen beds. We loved the location as it was a bit removed from the center of town, very relaxing, and have to say this hotel has the best beach of all the shore line hotels; aside from that, the complimentary hot breakfast was very yummy and diverse, the room was clean and kept […] clean, the pool house included an arcade, exercise room and laundromat (which we needed and used); and the amenities in the room were much appreciated too--fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, nice separate bathroom and sink/mirror, comfy beds with lots of pillows, tv with full cable selection in each room to keep kids and parents happy at night, and free wifi. I can't speak for all rooms, but the one we had smelled like urine (especially when the fan was running) so we slept with the fan off and the window open. In addition, the carpet was "greasy" and so I kept my sandals on the entire time (even when I slept). My daughter found crumbs on her sheets when she pulled back the covers for the first time. I was traveling with my 87 year old mother, so when making the reservations I verified that there was an elevator. There is an elevator in one of the buildings that is attached to the beach front rooms, where we had a room on the 4th floor. We would take the elevator up to the 3rd floor in this building, go down five steps, go through the covered connecting […] walkway, and then go up seven steps to get to the 4th floor. We were stay in the Suites. Despite of the room attendant,s great effort, the carpet was old and smell like the fungus. We had to leave on the AC because of the terribly bad smell in the room. This hotel is less than Holiday Express quality, over rated, expensive, not even lake view. The swimming pool was aweful dirty and no one seems to clean it. Pros: beach right outside, close to town, Cons: gave us room right by stairs and traffic on first floor---was told there were no rooms left, but the vacancy sign was still lit up, that also meant we heard the people upstairs all night as well as the cars would pull up to our room constantly and thus were blinded by them, the drapes weren't room darkening […] and didn't stay closed if the air was on, pushy on tipping---there was a tip jar in the lobby, envelope in the room, another jar at breakfast, we folded up the bed so we would have more room for our baby, there were M&M's under it and it wasn't very clean, rooms were small, not an issue, but the TV was too big so you ran into when you went into the bathroom, staff was more interested in themselves then helping us out. I will not stay at another Clarion again. This experience put a sour taste in my mouth. Read more

The rooms that we had were clean and well-kept. The breakfast buffet could have been better had there been fresh fruit, however, there was plenty of variety for everyone to be happy (we had two adults and four teens). The teens had fun in the pool, but the waterparks were a little too young for them. Also, since we needed two rooms I had requested that […] they be adjoining one another. Pleased with the two room suite - allowed my husband & I our privacy and our grandson loved having his own room as well. Satisfied with the accomodations. Housekeeping could have been a little better. The room appeared clean but there was popcorn on the floor under the front of the dresser when we first checked in and housekeeping continued to miss […] it. On the Sunday that we were there, housekeeping didn't get to our room until almost 5pm and the front desk said that on Sundays the majority of check-ins and check-outs occur and housekeeping is very busy - we did get clean sheets and towels, but coffee and cups were not restocked in the room. No big deal really. Our first morning, we tried the complimentary breakfast. We did not like it - scrambled eggs tasted fake and sausage patty was mostly fat. The make-your-own waffles were just ok. Even the canned tropical fruit mix did not taste good. The orange juice was like orange colored water. Many items were offered at breakfast but most of it was poor quality. We ate elsewhere the remaining mornings. Another thing we really liked was the opportunity to go to the indoor waterparks of two other hotels. We spent an entire afternoon at one of the biggest hotel waterparks in the area. We also enjoyed the private hotel beach. The hotel gave us a discount coupon for one of the ferries and several restaurants gave us a discount off a meal when we showed them our room keys. Overall, we were pleased with our stay. Read more

We enjoyed our stay at the Clarion in Mackinaw City. We were at beach level and able to walk right out to the beach. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. One morning housekeeping did not clean the coffee pot or replenish the coffee, this was even after leaving a generous tip. It would have been nice to have fresh fruit included with the breakfast such as bananas. Also fresh donuts instead of the extremely preserved donut holes. The sausage was hard not good at all. Air conditioning was LOUD and placed behind a table/chairs, not the most efficient location for an A/C-heat unit. TV was on top of a tall cabinet and hard to watch from laying in bed. Bathroom was TINY and location of sink if hallway around the corner from bathroom was inconvenient.
