I had requested non-smoking room but the room smelled smoke although there was a small sign saying "Thank you for not smoking" I am senesitive to smoke I can tell from good distance. Overall our stay was great. One complaint - the pool. The water in the pool was HOT, like the temperature of a hot tub/whirlpool. Yet, the hot tub was cool. It was very uncomfortable being the pool. Nothing like sweating while you're swimming. Also, there were 2 seperate groups of people that came in who proceeded to jump in the pool with their clothes […] on. We arrived for one night to attend a wedding in the hotel next to the Double Tree hotel. At first, we were sent to a stinky outdated room with ancient TV facing the dumpster in the back of the hotel. I called the reception desk to complain an we were promptly changed to a much nicer room near the lobby that was updated and smelled OK. The only complaint […] I have is that the doors and walls are paper thin and you can hear every conversation from the hallway. Also, the sofa is extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. Our room was a suite, but the bedroom could not be cooled off... the air vent was in the living area and did not circulate well. Also, the pool area was EXTREMELY HOT. Loved the room, big living room, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, big bedroom and bathroom. Tvs were a little outdated but no big deal. Had a 1st floor room which had sliding doors to parking lot, which was great for loading and unloading the car, but kind of creeped me out at night. "Christmas holiday stay"
I stay here at least once a year, always at Christmas time. This was the first year I was disappointed with the hotel and the service. It was cold on Christmas and I couldn't keep the thermostat high enough to keep the room comfortably warm without constantly running the heater. I turned it to auto when I went to bed and work up to a very chilly room. […] Then they forgot my breakfast, I learned, when I called to inquire where it was. The coffee maker had not been cleaned since the previous users of the room. I did it. There were no tissues. I could have called down for more but I checked in late and just wanted to go to sleep. They also charged me $100 for incidentals after I prepaid through Expedia and $9.95 for a day of internet use. When I called about the charge, the staff member who answered said that charge will go away since I did not have any incidentals which must not include the fee for the internet which other hotels give you for free. "You get what you pay for"
I booked a suite here for a family trip at a low rate through H.com. The Wyndham where I stayed on my last visit was booked. The staff was relatively nice but the NJ saracasm didn't always work with me. (I called on the Wed. before to see if the pool was going to be open for the weekend. The response was "it's open now"...didn't really answer my question) […] That being said they were very nice in dealing with the sour coffee cream that was in the room. Unrefrigerated half andf half left near the coffee maker should be changed daily! The disappointment was in the hotels aging look. It was clearly a trendy decor back say in 1995, but the colors and furniture was tired and depressing. It appeared by the missing celing tiles and holes in the hallyway that they were doing renovations but the workmanship was awful. Messy caulking and tile work in the bathroom,. Big gaps around the tub and basebord...looked like a bad patch job. I really hate it when the tub plug doesn't work and is hanging out of the tub. The bathroom was reasonable in size but it had absolutely no decor. Just white walls, floor, ceiling and towels, with a dated birch whitewashed door. I felt like i was in a public bathroom at a train station. The bed was nice and comfortable, but you definitley want to wear shoes on the 20+ year old looking carpet( I'm sure its newer but it didn't look that way). and Finally, $9.95 PER DAY FOR INTERNET!????. $12 for toast and coffee??? It's clear that this hotel is lost in the 1990's. The decor, the condition and the pricing for things that other hotels give you for free. I must say this is typical of Hilton's. They price all of their hotels as though they are in exotic resorts. Cherry Hill New Jersey...I don't think so. Next time I'll pay $20-30 more per night and stay at a place that includes the simple things that cost the hotel relatively nothing, but make a big difference when it comes to guest comfort and appreciation. "Spacious Suites and Very Clean"
I was going away for the weekend traveling to NJ for a mini- reunion with high school friends. As I no longer live in this area, I know that much had changed and was unsure of which hotel to choose. I was pleasantly surprised with the Doubletree Guest Suites in Mt. Laurel. I did not deal much with the staff except at check-in. The hotel is huge and […] some what confusing on navigating where to park your car and which entrance to use, but you can park closer to your room. The room I stayed in was a suite with a King bed, the bedroom is completely separate with it's own door. The living area is spacious and has a nice layout with a tv in this room as well as the bedroom It was also equipped with a microwave, refrigerator and a wet bar. It was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable and great pillows. The only downside was they asked me if I wanted a smoking or non - smoking. Truthfully I didn't even realize hotels still allowed smoking rooms. Being a non smoker, who is also allergic to cigarette smoke, I definitely wanted to be far from smoking rooms. When I got off the elevator for my floor, I immediately smelled cigarette smoke heavily, so was worried that my room, would also smell, however, once in the room, I could not detect any hint of stale cigarettes. "Rude staff, smelly room... wouldn't recommend!"
I just stayed at this hotel for three nights with my husband and two infant children. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, and I went to check in. The lady at the desk told me my room wasn't ready and when I (admittedly exasperated after a very long drive) remarked that was a bummer because I had two tired kids in the car she flatly told me "check in time […] is at three. You're early." She was right - it was 2:55. Got me there! And I definitely deserved the rude treatment for thinking I could show up to a hotel all early like that! So, I hoped that rudeness was just a problem with that member of the staff, so I waited to check in and headed to the room. When we arrived at the room (which, according to our reservation was a NON-SMOKING king) it REEKED of cigarettes. Not just smelled, but reeked. I called the front desk and the lady who answered the phone told me "well, I said you were in a smoking room when you checked in and you didn't complain then, so that's your room. And we're booked up, so we can't move you." What? I checked my reservation, it said non-smoking. I told her that, she reiterated that it was my fault for not telling her I didn't want a smoking room, and they couldn't move me. I asked her how she was going to fix the problem and she said a maintenance guy would come soon to help. He did - showed up and sprayed some air freshener. Awesome. Now it smelled like cigarettes and lavender. Kids crying needed naps so I gave up for the day. I'm not one to complain typically - even with bad service but this place really takes the cake. I asked again for help the next day when the room was still horrible smelling and the nice maintenance guy came again and made it smell like lavender for 10 minutes. The scent of cigarettes wasn't just subtle. And I may have forgiven the horrible smell if every encounter with the hotel staff was about the fact that I needed to deal with it because they were booked. Soo... our lovely trip to Mt. "Best I've stayed in"
I don't have a lot of money to spend so I typically spend 80-125 on a hotel, no more. I was excited to find this double room suite in my budged although nervous. Sounded too good to be true. It is beautiful. The room was really nice and the bed was so comfortable. It didn't have that standard hotel room man made material blanket that is all scratchy. […] It was so squishy, cozy. You just sink right it. I was really impressed by it. Very clean and modern. No horrible 80's decor. The only negative I can think of is the shower is made for short people. I'm 5'5" and felt like a giant in it. But that certainly wouldn't keep me away. We have kids, so it was nice to put the kids in the room, close the door and be able to speak, watch tv, and not worry about waking them up. Definitely will go here again. "Just don't care here!"
We stayed Labor Day weekend at the Doubletree hotel in Mt. Laurel, NJ. After checking in, we were told to park at the right hand side of the hotel and enter through Door A. Well Door A is messed up. We put our pass card in the reader but the door still wouldn't open. We then released it wasn't latched. However, it took a Herculean effort to pull the […] door open. We informed the front desk who said they'd have Maintenance take a look at it. All of Friday through Sunday, nothing changed. My girlfriend pulled a rib muscle attempting to open the door. She went to the doctor upon our return to Richmond, VA. She had x-rays and was prescribed pain medication and heating pad. She was unable to continue at work on Tuesday the 6th. She informed the staff at the front desk upon our departure Sunday morning and she said they could have cared less. She said the door was fine. I will tell you this, the door never latched. This is a safety issue to your guests and the fact that you have to yank a muscle loose to open the door is terrible. Also, the fact that the staff takes no responsibility is reprehensible.
