As seems to be standard for downtown hotels (this happened to me in Atlanta as well), the hotel won't reveal to you that there is a daily fee for having your car valet-parked. In this case, the fee is $24 per day. And, since it's a downtown hotel, you really don't have a lot of alternative options for parking your car yourself. Just be aware that this fee exists.

I have stayed at the Adolphus quite a few times before. This time I booked the deluxe room. They could not find my reservation, but quickly put me in a room. The room was only about 250 sq. feet. The room was so narrow that only a double size bed and one nightstand could fit. There were no occasional chairs! The service is wonderful as usual. I do think the parking fee was excessive. One lamp in my room was cracked and bent. The room was very well kept. I will stay there again, but only if they can assure me I will not be put in such a tiny room, or at least not to be charged the rate for a deluxe room when mine was much smaller. I emailed the hotel four days ago but have yet to receive a reply.

Beware: 24 dollar valet parking. Rooms have a huge gap between the door and the floor meaning that you hear EVERYTHING going on in the corridor. AC kept blowing right in our face during the night. Not very comfortable. No hot water for several minutes in the shower, meaning you have to plan ahead. Old hotel, supposedly very European style, but coming from Europe I must say that this hotel was a huge disappointment. Will NOT stay there again. Poor value!

The hotel was nice, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The staff was all very nice. The hotel patrons (other than myself of course) seemed a bit stuffy, although that is not something I will fault the hotel for. The one complaint I have is the sound really carries, if someone is in the hallway talking, or entering/existing another room it is audible, and may wake up the lighter sleepers among us.

The only slight change would be a week rate for the parking. It was a bit expensive on a daily rate.

The service was exceptional. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the doorman. It is a mandatory valet parking service. The reception area is very nice and welcoming. When we checked in, our reservation was not found. (We booked through hotels.com) This situation was quickly remedied and we were give our room key. I was a bit disappointed when we arrived to our room. I had expected a bit "better quality" of furnishings. It seems to be a bit dated, as if the hotel furniture had been there at least twenty years. The floral bedspread and carpet were a bit old-fashioned for my taste. One of our lamps didn't work and the tub was clogged. It was in the evening when we checked in and I wanted to see the view through our one window and it was dirty so we didn't see much. However, there was a large walk-in closet and good sized bathroom. So I recommend this hotel because of the great customer service (and if you don't mind the old furnishings). Since the "Adolphus" is considered a nice hotel, I expected a little bit more.
