My husband and I stayed one night and enjoyed our stay. We loved the bed, pillows and down comforter - so comfortable. The coffee was really good (we didn't eat the breakfast). We parked on the street and walked everywhere - on the wharf and to dinner. We would stay there again.

The staff were accommodating and pleasant. There was fresh coffee and fruit in the lobby. Only compliants: The elevator was slow. Thin walls, we could hear people coming in late. The sounds of late night party revelers was offset by the sounds of waves crashing and seals barking right across the street. The view was ok, the sea breeze wonderful. We would say the breakfast could use a little help but it was still very good. We sat and ate on our balcony that morning and it couldn't have been better. I would totally recommend The Santa Barbara Inn for weekend getaways for those of us with limited budgets.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help guests. The Friday night wine and cheese reception, free bottled wine in room were very nice and unexpected. The lowest valet parking I have ever experienced. The decor of the lobby and corridors was very nice as well as our room decor. Only drawback - the shower commode area. It appears the circulation is not very good and the dampness had taken a toll on the shower door, and wallpaper. I will return if in the area.

The 25 cent trolly picks up right outside the hotel and takes you down to state st.. PERFECT.

The majority of the staff was very friendly and the location was great, but this hotel was a complete disappointment. This hotel was nothing like we had expected. Our room had broken fire sprinklers, no A/C & no microwave. On the upside they hade great comforters and pillows. It also had other issues it had no food service in the hotel at all. It had a few vending machines that were not properly maintained. One was not working and the other had expired product. Problem was addressed to staff and was not taken care of the whole week of our stay. The pool area had broken down chairs. The list can go on and on. If your just looking for location this might be okay for you,but otherwise I would not recommend.

From the outside, the Santa Barbara Inn may not look like much but don't be deceived... inside is an slice of old world santa barbara heaven. Tea, coffee, water are available 24/7 as is fruit. The staff is impeccably trained for the service industry without being solicitous. The only thing to ponder on is if there is a heat wave (rare but it does happen) you will be warm; no AC. Typically this should not be a problem as Santa Barbara ocean breezes waft through the room. Beds incredibly comfortable, lots of closet space, all rooms have (non-smoking;-) balconies. Cross the street and you're on a lovely stretch of beach. Enjoy! We did!

the hotel is a little old so it needs some updating, but the location and size of the hotel is great. the staff was very friendly and the view from the rooms on the ocean side of the hotel is amazing. The rooms are also huge, which is great. They all have really nice balconies as well. We went during a very expensive week in Santa Barbara so I don't think the price was reasonable for any hotel for that matter, but I think most of the time, this hotel would be a good value for an ocean front property in Santa Barbara.

For my next visit I will defintely try to find something less expensive. The continental breakfast was very basic, basic muffins, bagels, cereal and a toaster. If you want eggs and bacon, this is not the place.

We were in Santa Barbara for a medical appointment at the clinic, needing a nice place to stay in a good location. I inquired at the front desk about discounts available to clinic patients.I reserved online and it was pre-paid,so the nice young man upgraded our room to a full ocean view! The vanity/wash basin area was separate from the shower/toilet area which is a plus. another plus was the sit down vanity with the lighted make-up mirror separate from the wash basin area. The decor and furnishings were upscale and also quite new, as was the patio furniture on the balcony. We had our continental breakfast on the balcony even though the breakfast room was quite nice. Every hotel employee we encountered was upbeat and very helpful. The dinner recommendation exceeded our expectations as well, and was just down the street from the hotel. The parking on the street was no charge or you could pay for valet. We had a wonderful stay, and recommend it to others for any type of stay... anniversary, etc.

This hotel is badly in need of refurbishing. It hasn't strayed far from its motel origins, and the little that has been done in the way of upgrades, eg, shower door, has a very do-it-yourself appearance. The internet site is a little rosier than even the usual self-serving rating — eg, though the space is there, there really isn't a restaurant; oh, and, there really isn't a bar. The sullen desk clerk will, however, gladly direct you across the park to the nearby competition. Oh, but don't go into the park after dark — needles and disagreeable people, y'know.

Valet parking only but then again it's only $7.00 (at least when I went). Unfortunately SB has a lot, and I mean A LOT of homeless who invariably coallesce in the parks and beach side areas. Having a park next to your hotel guarantees you have a lively view of the locals. Street parking, for those who choose not to use Valet, is right alongside the park. The room is nice and clean. The bed (a king in my case) was 'ok' too. The decor was stylish and appealing. The shower could use some work especially with the door. While the shower was nicely tiled the door seal was a mess and the shower head just a bit too "vintage."
