"Downtown Night Life"
If you are someone who loves to walk & sight see...this is the city. Make sure you use the San Diego MTS Transportation System which are the Trolley (Trams) & buses. You can get to the zoo, Old Town, Little Italy, Pacific Beach, Sea World, Coronado, the US Midway & even to the airport!! People are so very helpful in this city....The rates are so very […] reasonable & be sure to buy multi passes for the MTS! If you are a light sleeper, be prepared to hear noise from the downtown area until 2 AM. Then things do get quiet! There are so many restaurants around..especially on Fifth St & on Fourth Street.. Good prices & decent food too! The hotel was very helpful with information & the continental breakfast was just donuts, toast, ceral, coffee & tea. Nothing fancy, but at least you have something! Since I feel that I saw everything in San Diego, I would probably not go back...so many more cities to visit! But for those who plan to go....you'll have fun! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place but didn't like the fact I had to pay $30 for overnight parkingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A weeks stay at the Gaslamp Plaza Suites"
This hotel is an awesome bang for the buck considering the ridiculous prices of other hotels in this area. I stayed for a week and had a great time being in the heart of the gaslamp quarter. The rooms are nice and very classy. The Breakfast was subpar unless you like stale muffins. Also forget the hotel parking as it's ridiculous at 30bux a day which […] is probably typical for the area but you're better off parking your car at Park it at Market on Market and 6th. Max of 15 bux per day there and it's only about a 4min walk from the hotel. Oh one last thing...no free internet so be prepared for that. That was really my only real downer about this place, but hey it happens just be prepared to pay. Other than that I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in one of the more fun areas of town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful restored building right in the heart of the actionGenuine Expedia guest review
The room was awesome on the ninth floor corner, large, tasteful, comfortable and a wonderful view, close to several restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For the cost, it was disappointing. The room was small and very average, uncomfortable beds. It's down in Gaslamp district, which means that you're in the heart of nightlife. But it also means you can hear that nightlife in your hotel room ALL NIGHT, which is fine if you don't need sleep.Genuine Expedia guest review
Charming and historic facility, in walking distance of everything in downtown San Diego and the fun and funky Gas Lamp District. It is just a block away from Horton Plaza. And the staff is very knowledgable and ready to offer great restaurant recommendations. The suite was retro, but unexpectedly spacious and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Gorgeous historical building"
Took a chance, picked this place and it turned out to be a gem. No pool or hot tub but the beautiful rooms and views from the top made up for that. This place is not super duper modern, but it is definitely the best part of history of San Diego. They have restored it beautifully and it was so fun to stay here. Don't stay here if you need everything […] ultra modern. This place is for those who like graceful, historical elegance and can appreciate restored beauty. It's close to everything in the gaslamp district and we walked everywhere-even petco park within 20 minutes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Central location with lovely roof-top terrace"
Right in the middle of the "gas-lamp" district of downtown San Diego so very convenient for tourist facilities. Friendly helpful staff who allowed us to use the terrace facilities after checking out as we had an evening flight. Comfortable spacious rooms. Parking expensive but helpfully valeted. Breakfast limited but free. Wi-Fi fast but not free! Overall […] good choice for short stay, especially at reduced weekend rates. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location, all but one staff was very helpful. Ask for a map around the area, as there a lot of things to see and do near the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was upgraded upon arrival to a beautiful suite, that was great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great stay! Only drawback was the noise from all the bars and clubs when it was time to go to sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent location for the price. Wonderful services and views off the rooftop!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice and cozy, great location, cool staff! Thanks!"
Staff was helpful and friendly. Pleasant view from the terrace, where they also serve breakfast that is included in price. Nice hotel in a great location at a reasonable price, loved our stay. Thank you, Gaslamp Plaza Suites!))Genuine Expedia guest review
"Historic Building - in Gaslamp Quarter"
I enjoy staying in smaller, boutique hotels, especially in historic districts. But, these kinds of hotels are not for everyone. Enjoyed the ambiance and the rooftop dining area had very good view of the City and out to the Ocean.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in downtown San Diego."
Contintental breakfast is offered which is great, plus you can enjoy the rooftop view of the downtown area. Shops and restaurant are all walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review
"In the Gaslamp District..."
My wife and I loved our stay. The melting pot restaraunt and basement bar were a bonus!! A must stay. Accommodations were worth the price and then some. Would stay again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"great gaslamp location"
Nice room, comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Noisy due to street at night! Had to move to new hotel after 3 nights of sirens, voices, street cleaners and trucks and no sleep!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cool old building"
The building itself has a really cool older feel to it, but the rooms are modern and classy. I loved the atmosphere and it was really close to everything in the Gaslamp quarter.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had a great time. The hotel was very nice and in a great location. I could walk just about any where and there was something to see.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right in the heart of everything."
Easy walk to the convention center and waterfront. Room is very adequate for two sleeping....six for before dinner drinks. Rooftop breakfast was great for cereal, OJ, and coffee. Beware of the noise and fun on the street below.Genuine Expedia guest review
For what we paid, the hotel was pretty nice. It is a 10 minute walk or so from the convention center, and close to numerous bars and restaurants. It's an old building that was re-purposed into a hotel, and they did a nice job of retaining that old world charm. Somewhere in their literature, they proclaimed themselves a 'luxury' hotel...the hotel was […] fine, but a far cry from the Marina Mariott that some of our coworkers stayed at...I'd go back to Gaslamp Plaza Suites, but only if they were still priced significantly lower than their more updated competition. Loud music until 1Am, I guess that's a little my fault also you are right in the middle of gaslamp so it's going to be a little loud. I just was overall disappointed by the hotel. The room is very outdated, and the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
In the middle of the Gaslamp - couldn't be a better location for visiting the downtown area - great price - great choice! Only negative was the other guests! Had to wait for ages to get our car from the valet as the two groups ahead of us BOTH expected to be able to get their car without their valet ticket OR their drivers license! then one group got […] the valet to go all the way back to their room to get their luggage while everyone else just waited... You're not going to get fancy amenities here, but it's full of character and the lovely lady on reception even recommended we bring food back and eat it on the rooftop terrace! We were looking for a nice romantic and relaxing getaway and were pleasantly surprised by the room, it was breathtaking. For relaxation we basked in the sun on the roof, which was surprisingly quiet. We arrived on a Saturday; which was something I dreaded at first but the rooms were quiet, hallways were quiet and you could barley hear the commotion […] from the street as the party goers went home for the night. Various shops and restaurants are in walking distance. Great location, love the style; we'll definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel experience. Will be staying here for any subsequent trips to San Diego. Different layout than many hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Having reviewed numerous hotels in the area that clearly stated the parking fee I was a bit surprised when upon arrival it was $30 to park the car. Almost double any of the disclosed fees at other hotels in the area. The attendant recommended a parking garage around the corner. $10 for the night until 6am! If you didn't get your car out before 6am they […] charged you another $24.It was more than a little disappointing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great old hotel"
I like slightly funky old hotels and this hotel is one notch above funky. The rooms are big, great windows that open slightly, lots of original architectural features, great fun staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Stay in the Gaslamp District"
The Hotel staff was fabulous! Merry is awesome! The hotel is quaint and is dated in the bathtubs. Need some repair. Overall great place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
They charged me for valet even though I didnt use it. Its ridiculous that they would let someone else valet their car under my name, thats illegal...dont stay here!!! they will try and steal from you!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, close to restaurants."
I loved my stay at this hotel. The room was clean. The view from the room was beautiful. The night view was prettier. I loved the free breakfast buffet and all the other extras, like the drinking glasses, plates, and microwave and microwave pot! The restroom had a lot of counter space. At night you could hear the party goers but not too much. I was […] on the 7th floor. Just loved it! I would definitely stay again. "Very close to the Gaslamp experience"
If you want a hotel that is right next to all the Gaslamp district nightlife, this is it. The rooms are small, but excellently laid out so as to not feel cramped. The decor is new and absolutely first class. The valet parking is expensive at $30 per day, but convenient.Genuine Expedia guest review
The lady at the front desk was rude, and had an attitude. That ruined everything.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful room, beautiful building, very clean, I'll stay here anytime I'm back in the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Much better than expected. Hotel's location is perfectly located at the end of the main attraction street and only a 7 block walk to Petco field. There are many restaurants and bars from which to choose. Foot traffic and noise can be a problem if you are a light sleeper. Rooms are tastfully decorated. Definitely would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My boyfriend & I visited San Diego for the 1st time, along with some of our adult kids &our 2 yr old granddaughter. we stayed in a suite with them most of the week. But 1 night we stayed at Gaslamp as a birthday gift I had arranged for my BF, as we love historical things. the hotel was beautiful and clean, & we loved the historical atmosphereGenuine Expedia guest review
"Gaslamp Suites is in the heart of the Gaslamp Dist"
If you want to be near the action, great restaurants, shopping and the ocean, then this is a very good option. I was also intrigued with the historical nature of the building and its place in history. The one bedroom suite was small but comfortable. There is some noise from the streets due to activity and traffic.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were more satisfies with this hotel for price and location and comfort than other stays in San Diego.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice old and quaint hotel close to restaurants"
Stayed a short time but found it to be very nice and convenient. One complaint would be the $30 dollar overnight valet parking - a bit of a "Rip Off "Genuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel very nice and breakfast is on the rooftop!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms are remodeled and clean. The content breakfast is just that a continental breakfast but a great view on the rooftop. That staff was very nice and helpful. Location is great for walking to all the restaurants and clubs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The worst experience ever"
Noisy, drunk people everywhere, in two occasions we felt in danger, both at the entrance outside the hotel and inside in the lobby when drunk people were very rowdy and even insulted us. All this happened because we got to the hotel around 10 pm on a Friday. The party at the gaslamp district is awful. At four in the morning strong sirens woke us up […] and people were taken by police. The room smells like a window has not been opened in centuries. Breakfast is really nothing much. We had paid for two nights, we didn't use the second night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a great affordable hotel that was right in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter and within walking distance to a lot of fantastic restaurants and shops. Hotel staff was extremely friendly. The rooftop views were incredible and a nice touch to the hotel. My only complaint is that I tried to check in early, and they told me my room was ready - I […] went up to the room and it was still dirty from the last guest. I ended up having to wait until normal check-in time to be able to get into my room, which isn't a big deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location in Historic Old Building"
This location is in the heart of the gaslamp, bars, resutrants, Mass Transit. Great continental breakfast on rooftop with views of the city. Wonderful old historic building.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall the hotel was nice. I like that free continental breakfast was offered at roof top. However I feel that overnight parking is way over priced. $30 is very steep. Also free wifi is not offered. I will consider other places to stay next time I go to San Diego.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
