Fun and friendly dealers. Great pool. Large room. Right next to everything in Vegas. Terrific price. The Rio is the best value in Vegas. I love this hotel and will return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a good experience."
20 minute wait for elevator, 40 minute wait for valet to bring my car, wrong room type given, then transferred to a Samba Suite - pitiful excuse for a renovation (bathrooms not updated) and not even close to a suite by any standards. I won't stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent off-strip hotel! Great pool."
This hotel is perfect for people who want to be close to the Strip but not off too far. A short 2-minute cab ride & you're there! The casino is big w/ lots of games & plenty of tables. We ate at the Sports Deli - big sandwiches but pretty basic - & at All American Bar & Grille; again, good but basic no-frills food. The room is huge, clean, & comfortable. […] The staff at the hotel is fantastic & very friendly. Our big draw was the pool - free! We hung out at the Voo (21+) & it was great! Drinks are pricey but it IS Las Vegas so we expected that. My suggestion is go to the bar that's not by the bathrooms; our first day by the pool we waited 20 minutes before someone even greeted us! It wasn't very busy & the bartenders were moving slowly. The second day at the pool, went to the other bar, boom. No problem! We will definitely stay here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice for the price"
Very nice hotel. A little far from the strip; but it's a nice enough hotel that you don't have to go the strip if you don't want to. I would definitely come back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
RIO was very welcomingfor pets, great pet relief areas but the pet floor smelled pet mess and urine. The front desk gave us a wrong room and i had to fight for what i paid for. The Rios customer service was very poor. There could have been simple fixes to the mistake. I have recieved betterservice for half the price other placesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Didn't care much for the room and wasn't too impressed. Needs an update for sureGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the cost"
The rooms are old and need upgrading. We had abt 3 inch or more worth of dirt under our bed on the carpet. It was nasty. We only noticed it on the last day. I was doing exercise in the room when I noticed. I took a picture of it. Under that bed have not been clean in years. I would never stay at the Rio again ever.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great time staying at Rio. We loved the Shuttle service Rio provided to the Strip until 1am. Restaurants were awesome. Personnel & Cleaning folks were very nice and not Rude...In fact the whole staff at the Rio Hotel were Great...a must stay at the Rio...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Our Keys Didn't Work"
Our keys never worked. I am not sure if they were treating us like second class citizens because we didn't book direct. We went through 4 sets of keys in one night. None of them worked. Security had to let us in every time. And we had to wait outside the door for varying amounts of time for them to show up. The guy who gave us the first set of keys […] said: "If these don't work, just come down and get another set or ask security to let you in." So there was obviously a problem with the key reader of that room. But they never offered to move us to a different room. I WOULD LIKE A REFUND! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
As a local my boyfriend and I did a staycation here at the rio. The whole four days were terrible. The service was horrible the rooms were old and filthy. We paid over 1400 dollars for an upgraded suite and it was mediocre at best. Housekeeping never cleaned the room. The valet were the most accommodating. We will never stay here again. Living in this […] town I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not convenient, little shopping, worn casino, worn elevators and halls and motel type bathrooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rip - off"
Don't believe the price you see on the internet. Once you are there and ready to check in, they will charge you a $25.00 "Resort Fee." What a SCAM! The fee supposedly includes access to their gym, local calls, and internet access. Are they kidding? What decade are they living in? Who cares about local calls anymore? Who doesn't have a cell phone? And […] what percentage of their guest use the gym? Next, they'll be telling us that the fee includes access to the casino! Like I said - RIP OFF Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I thougt our stay there was perfect. The rooms were clean, large, queit, large, relaxing, large and the staff was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
They charged extra for everything! $4.50 for a bottle of water. $13.99 to use the Internet a day. Not thrilled with this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was very spacious. Nice view from the 22 floor. The coffee maker was available but there no cream or coffee powder to make coffee. Had comfortable sleep in morning :-)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
it was great, i think they should have had 2 discount tickets for the hotel guest at the buffet and instead of $10 off it should have been $15. i also miss all the activity at the rio the maudi grass seen and the tracks on the ceilling with people performing, that was an awesome experience about 8 years ago.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Room Rates BUT..."
Nice room at very low cost until you add the dreaded Resort Fee & then the ridiculous food prices. Even the BK Broiler was over $9. Missed the Mardi Gras feel of the past & property felt a bit dated. At least my Suite was very pleasant until I found that the Gourmet coffe maker does not include complimentary coffee. Mini Bar wanted $8 for the little […] cups. "Upgraded to Wonderful Suite"
Rio is a surprisingly nice hotel with beautiful pools and friendly staff. The casino floor is quite large and there are several, reasonably-priced dining options on-site.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"okay, but not for business travel"
I chose the Rio because it was close to my work and the low rates. Given the hour long wait in the registration line, the dirty room, and the smell of smoke everywhere (i understand, it's Vegas), I would not recommend this hotel for business or really for casual stays. On the plus side, did have a variety of food choices.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would gladly pay the extra $70 then stay in downtown Vegas again not as many homeless people in the Rio area. Room was very clean and large and appreciated having a refrigerator. Nice touch was the bus running every 1/2 hour to the Vegas strip. Pool was very nice like being at a beach with the sand area. The only thing I did not like in the pool part […] was you could not bring in your own drinks. Would stay again plus they have amazing options at the buffet. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not bad for the price. Rooms are big. Off the strip but hotel is still nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Happy with Rio"
For what I paid to stay at the Rio, I am very disatisfied. The service at the front desk was absolutely terrible. They didn't have enough people there to serve the number of people in line, and once I got there, they were rude. I was not given the room that I paid for, and they offered to not charge a resort fee. (NOT GOOD ENOUGH)! Is it too much to […] ask that if a hotel is going to allow smoking everywhere that they also have a better filtration system? The only positive feedback I can give you is the security officers at your hotel were very polite and professional. When I could'nt find my car, they drove me to the garage on the other side of the hotel. That impressed me. My biggest complaint about Las Vegas as a whole is how practically every business as a whole nickles and dimes the consumer. Are you not making enough with the gambling? There are better cities out there to do business that don't take advantatge of the comsumer! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Fabulous Rio???"
Only 40 minutes to check in; I left a day early due to a family emergency (already paid for the through Hotels.com) and I cancelled through the phone service and express checkout at 7 am -( their TV checkout was inoperable) and I was charged a resort fee for the day I didn't stay - go figure! I seriously doubt I'll book a room again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Have always like the Rio Hotel, but the best part is the staff friendliness!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Room, Great Price"
Room was very nice and the price was the best deal in town. Will definitely stay here again! Must eat at Hash House-A-Go-Go for breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Used to be quiet, classy hotel."
Front desk made us wait 30 minutes to check in, while "gold club" members jumped the line and were checked in immediately. Check out was still a wait with as few as two clerks at the front desk with 25 stations. Casino was torn up and half inoperable due to carpet replacement.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms need a full face lift. The carpet was ripped and needed replaced. The shower head was clogged and the curtains were ripped and had holes in them. But the staff was friendly and the slots were loose.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel is close to everything and the rooms are very clean. The only problem is that we had some girls banging on our door at 3am for more than an hour. We called security but it took them a while to show up. That was very disturbing. I notified the front desk but the receptionist really didn't care for my complaint. Hotel was a pleasant surprise! Rooms are big and very nice. Must eat at Hash House a Go Go & Cafe Martanados (Italian).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a nice place to stay! Our room was large and comfortable. I thought the amenities were a little lacking... it almost seemed like they forgot to leave some of the toiletries - but maybe that's all they were going to provide. The shuttles to the strip were fine. It made things a tad inconvenient, but not bad. They ran every half hour to both […] Bally's and Harrah's. It worked out just fine for us. We planned to use the pool, but the weather didn't cooperate while we were there, so we didn't even get a look at it. The resort fee in Vegas is always an annoyance. In this case, the fee covered Internet use - but ONLY FOR ONE device! WHO has only one device these days? We were 2 friends sharing the room and we each wanted to get on our computers and access the wifi for our phones - but were told that if more than one device logged on, it would be an additional $13.95 per day. Wouldn't even let us use one per day!! It had to be ONE device for the whole stay. The staff was helpful, though the first desk clerk we encountered wasn't all that interested in making things easy for us. Oh well.... It was a great value and we are not unhappy we chose the Rio. "Great deal on a nice room"
Came in for a friend's wedding in southern Utah. Stayed at the Rio, which was glamorous for a low price! Nice big room, expansive casino on the first floor, centrally located. Downside was long lines for everything (checkin, checkout, etc.).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
great hotel for the money! a little bit from the strip but $7 cab ride topsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
You have to pay an extra $25/day. resort fee, the amount is not mentioned on the website. For this you get questionable internet access for one device, access to the fitness ctr. and free local calls - come on....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed in the mamba suite. No complaints at all. My room was spacious, clean, and private.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I stay in Vegas over 25 nights a year. This is the first time at the Rio. Stayed there because a conference was at this building and I had heard in the past it was fun. Check in was extremely slow. 1 hour to check in. I can understand when you have large numbers checking in but the hotel only had 2 people working the desk. We asked if they had some […] upgraded rooms and they said just renovated rooms where available. If you call just putting in new carpet renovating then I guess they did. Furniture was very old and room smelled old...faucet pulling away in tub...carpet in the sink areas...old dirty tile...etc. etc. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rude Manager at Front Desk"
The room was great but the manager at the front desk was so rude to my husband and daughter. I made the reservation under his name but paid with my CC online with Paypal. So somewhere in transition the reservation ended up under my name and so the manager basically told my husband it was going to cost over $250 to stay there that evening and that we'd […] have to deal with Expedia to recoup our money because the room wasn't under his name. "Worst stay ever"
Where do I start... There was no internet connection in the room, even though it's charged as part of the resort fee. I had better connection at McDonalds, not in this "4 star" hotel. One of the beds was full of body hair, very unclean and unnaceptable. Maintanence doesn't seem to be a strong point, wallpaper was peeling off the walls, it let a very […] bad impression and ruined Vegas for me. Don't recommend at all. "Old tower is not worth the cheap price"
I just needed a place to sleep and rest up for the second part of my journey. I found a great $40 price...it cost me about $69 with hotel fees added on. Unfortunately, that great price puts you in the old tower that desperately needs to be remodeled. The eighties decor was one thing, but outside tower lights blasted right in to the room through the […] edges of the curtains, the beds were saggy and you couldn't see the old fashioned TV from bed. There were tile pieces missing in the bathroom and very little water pressure in the shower. From what I hear, the new tower is fabulous! Too bad I didn't stay there! "31st Anniv-2nd Hotel"

"Fine Hotel with good restaurants"
Two minor issues" there was no coffee - only the coffee maker. I always have coffee in the morning. At the Voodoo Lounge upstairs, I couldn't get out of the VIP-viewing area as it was stantioned off. It was narrowed to a close, but there were people blocking that route anyway. So, I merely undid the stantion, and my date and I crossed over. I returned […] the rope back onto the stantion, and we exited to the general bar. Well, the bouncer (about mid 30s) speaks to me in a harsh tone, "Put it back!" Not only am I 60 years old, and highly dressed than any youngsters there, but there was no way out, nor did he make an effort to help us get out of the area. I turned to him and explained that there was no way out. I resented having to explain anything and my social graces kept me from telling him off. Experiences teaches us to be discerning with ignorant people in authority, as they may escalate matters. I wanted to tell him not to talk to me that way. Whether I was a guest in the hotel or not, I'm a paying customer and was not out of line. I won't hold this against my hotel rating, but it bothered me that night. I hope someone addresses that guy, with training. (he is stocky, I believe he was bald or short haired, and had a skinny beard). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
