We stayed at the Hotel Le Cantlie suites for 2 nights and the room was fantastic. Upon arrival the staff were a little surly, but that may be due to them expecting a big night with Toronto playing Montreal in the hockey... The Mez bar was a great place for a drink and, whilst you had to wait a while for your drink to arrive, it was definitely worth waiting for - I recommend the Flirtini for the ladies. The kitchen was a bonus and, with a few ingredients from the supermarket up on Avenue du Parc, the extra you spent on the lovely room is saved by cooking yourself a meal rather than eating out. There is a business centre with a printer which was handy as we were booking travel and accomodation on the fly. Would I stay here again? Absolutely.

I booked three nights at the Hotel Cantlie because of the size of the rooms for the price. We had an executive suite which consist of a seperate bedroom and living room/kitchen. The reason for having a lot of room for the money is because the hotel is pretty run down but if you overlook that it's a pretty good deal. We had to leave a day early but the manager would not refund our money even though we tried to cancel a Saturday night resveration on a Friday morning. This is pretty sleazy and keep that in mind when booking. Oh, and the parking is not included and the breakfast is your typical motel food for a lot of money.

It is clean, friendly, and efficient. When I asked for some restaurants nearby for either seafood or pasta, a fantastic place was recommended, The hotel even gave me a note that as a customer of the hotel, I could get 20% discount! On the 2nd day of the stay, it was raining, at the front desk, I was asked whether I need an umbrella (without me asking for one!). They had many umbrellas for customers. I loved this hotel. The only thing that I personally did not need was some sort of scent (a spray?) when I checked into my room. I do need any strong smell or any chemicals. Otherwise, this would have been perfect! Thanks for all the hospitality.

Greatl location, helpful staff. We arrived, walked into our room and decided to upgrade to the executive suite from the double-queen. The staff were patient, helpful, cordial, and efficient. In less than five minutes we were on our way to the new room. While the additional cost of adding another guest to our room on top of the upgrade was a bit unnecessary in my mind, the space and comforts are still excellent. I heartily recommend, especially if you are staying for 3 or more nights since the kitchenette (stove, sink, microwave, fridge, dishes, coffemaker, etc.) and the small dining area are perfect for longer stays - get some groceries and chill.

I have stayed at the Cantlie Suites twice now and would go back again. The main draw is the location, downtown on Sherbrooke street, walking distance from shops and transport. The hotel decor is a little dated but the rooms are spotless, large and comfortable. The kitchenettes are useful for longer stays. There is a nice pool on the roof and superb city views from up there too! I noticed a lot of KLM flight crew staying there this time so it is obviously a popular choice for them. No complaints from me about the Cantlie!

Hotel le Cantlie is quite nice. The hotel is at the foot of Mount Royal. It is just a block and a half or so away from a stop on the green line of the metro, which is four stops or so away from the main metro hub, Berri-UQAM. If you'll be staying in town for more than a few days, go to any metro stop and buy a week-long pass, which will get you on any metro or city bus. The hotel is rather nicely appointed. We loved having a kitchenette, which included a stove, oven, sink, microwave, and fridge. The maids even wash your dishes when they clean your room! There is a pool way up on the roof: the 28th floor, with a nice view of downtown. They have a free business center with three computers (which don't always work as one might hope, but that's a minor quibble). Also, they have a laundry room: two washers, two dryers, and a soap dispenser. You must pay for these DIY laundry services, but we much preferred to do our laundry in the evening at our own hotel rather than losing time during the day at a laundromat. Great experience overall!

We are frequent visitors to Montreal -- my spouse is a former Montrealer. Le Cantlie is an excellent hotel -- especially if you opt for the executive suite. All rooms come with kitchens, I believe. I recommend getting Montreal bagels and cream cheese (from St. Viateur Bagel Factory) and pastries from Premier Mousin to stock the kitchen. The latter is a cafe chain in the city. There is one just down the street from the Cantlie on Sherbrooke, past the Fine Arts Museum. The hotel is well situated (stay away from hotels around Rene Levesque St -- you get no sense of what the city is about in that convention and business area. Le Cantlie is close to McGill Univ and a block away from the Ste. Catherine St. shopping area. The Fine Arts Museum is two blocks away and a fabulous museum -- free, too, except for the special shows. As for the hotel itself: the beds are very comfortable. Rooms are well appointed. We like the suite, although it's not really a separate bedroom. You have glass doors with gauzy curtains separating the bedroom area from the living room/kitchen area. Not as private (if you've got kids or friends sleeping on the pull out couch) as one might like, but workable. Personnel are fine, if not super friendly. We do want to put in a good work for Daniel, one of the valets in the parking garage. He works the evening shift and was wonderful. He's been there as long as we've been staying at the Cantlie.

Oh yeah, better leave your truck at home -- won't fit in the garage. Rooftop pooooool -- how cool are we? Tiny elevators you sometimes have to ride up to ride down -- Spend a minute with your neighbors. Small TV I never had time to watch anyway. Bathroom sink was cracked, but didn't leak my tooth paste spittle. Charm! Really friendly staff and guests. This is a hidden jewel. Not for my sister with the $10,000 ring or my neighbor the junkie. Definitely for families with small kids (us), people too old for Ronald M's house, teachers and lawyers on a budget, the overweight poet who sometimes forgets to floss, and the Chinese immigrant he married. It was our first time traveling to the French-speaking province. We were told that people were different there. I guess we just did to think that they would be so different at this hotel, which seems to be a very international place. We heard their guests speaking Russian, Spanish and perhaps Arabic. During check-in a very pleasant receptionist would mispronounce our last name. I corrected her once thinking that it might be an honest mistake. She would mispronounce it again. I corrected her the second time and guest what? She would say it incorrectly the third time. Looked like she was just teasing us. Another time we asked a different receptionist for a good place to eat. She directed us to a street 30 minutes (walking) away from the hotel. It turns to be a very unattractive and dirty part of the city with a huge variety of “adult” stores and “adult” show. Our 8 y.o. had a lot of “fun” window shopping. We tried out faith the “last” third time. I saw a very attractive part of Montreal in the magazine and asked a receptionist where it might be. He told us that it was the French part of the town and explained how to get there. When we got there of cause it did not look like anything we were looking for (surprise-surprise). We just wasted 2 hours of our time which is a lot when you have only 2 days. After all that we gave up asking anything at the reception. PS If you do not speak French do your homework yourself.

The hotel staff was very efficient and knowledgeable of the area. I booked a Queen and Pull-Out bed, and the staff, for no extra cost, was able to get me two Queens without me even asking! The only downside was the parking. It's not the hotel's fault, as all of the city charges for parking. They only have a few SUV spaces available at the hotel, so the first night I had to park at the adjacent Marriott for an extra C$3. The parking price listed here was also for the day, not overnight (overnight is higher than the max day), but the spot is reserved for the duration of your stay and you can come and go as you please. Street parking is available, but it's pay during the day, and free at night. All in all, it was a minor annoyance but if you fly in and/or don't have a car, you don't have to worry about it. All in all, a fantastic hotel.
