"No Penthouse Key or Breakfast"

I've stayed at other Howard Johnson hotels in the past, and have always enjoyed myself, however this was my first time staying in the penthouse, and I really planned on enjoying myself as this was my brothers wedding, however, at first my new sister in law was given the wrong penthouse room, and we had to go back and forth with the staff for over an hour to get the right room, then for the entire weekend I was there I was NEVER given a penthouse key, everytime I asked for one, they said they were all gone and to come back in the morning, so I had to wait in the lobby for someone to come and let me up everytime I needed to get back to my room like a small child, then when I went to eat breakfast the last morning I was there I was told a free continental breakfats DID NOT come with my penthouse room!!!!!!! What the heck is that?!?!? Then when I asked the hotels staff about it, and brought up the fact that I had been there 3 days with no penthouse key, one was snatched out of a drawer, slung at the rude man behind the counter speaking to me and flung in my face as if it was something special at that point. The desk staff was absolutely horrible and considerably unkind. The hotel itself was great, but the staff made my experience not what I expected, and I still never ate. We got our bags and left almost 2 hours before checkout time, and went down the street to a nice restaurant and ate...

We stayed for a week ecah time we leave the hotel an return we had to get our room key reactivated which wasn't convenient at all plus the young lady at the front desk was very rude

The hotel was good and the rooms comfortable. They charge for the Internet (10mins , 1$). The continental breakfast sucks and the service on the breakfast table sucks as well. Apart from the breakfast, quite good overall.

The good: The room was decent (though we only used it for 7 hours of sleep). The bad: We were told that there would be an airport shuttle at 11:30PM and all we had to do was call and inform that we were arriving. We called the previous day and the day of the flight and were assured that it would be there. We were there at the designated area at 11:15PM. We waited till 12:30 for the shuttle. The shuttles for all the hotels arrived multiple times. We saw 6 shuttles for one hotel in the hour that we waited. Everytime we called we were told it would be there in 10 mins.... Issue no 2: We were told that breakfast would be included when we booked. Well, the next morning we went and were told to take a seat and someone would be with us (there was no buffet). We waited about 20 mins and no one came. Finally after a few enquiries, we were given a plate with a small bowl of cereal, a glass of milk and a scone. We tried to get some coffee but the lady ignored us and served others. I have stayed in other Howard Johnsons and have loved the stay and the breakfast there. This HoJo must have been an exception.

we used a Penthouse for 3 days, and are very satisfied with the location, only disappoinment was that they never call us for our wake up call at 6 clock in the morning.

I stayed with my husband in October, we only stayed for one night so the price was right. They included a breakfast in the restaurant, but it was just a little ceral coffee, 2 grapes and 1 apple. I you wanted a more complete breakfast you had to pay. But the restaurant was not very nice and the staff was not well oriented. Room was clean and location was OK.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel during a conference event in south Miami. It was about a 20 minute drive (depending on traffic). But the price made it worth while. The bed was very comfortable!!! The room and bathroom were clean. The front office staff was very courteous. We reached the hotel at 1:00 am and they made the check in very quickly. The continental was suprisingly nice! Like being at a restaurant. I was dying for some spanish coffee and the front desk receptioninst let me know that I could find some at the gas station in front of the hotel. True to her word, their coffee is amazing and they sell sandwiches as well! The hotel is also close the main highway. I would definitely stay there again.

I always liked this hotel, but as the years pass it just gets worse. Staff needs to be trained on customer service. Notice on the ameneties it says "Continental Breakfast" just so everyone knows, theres IS NO CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. I made plans to go down and eat when they gave me a menu with ridiculous prices, you are better off going down the street a few avenues over to Chico's where they have the bomb breakfast for $3.40. I mean my room was clean, but it smelled like i was on the smoking floor, and i wasnt. I mean if you are SUUUPER picky this is not the hotel for you. but if your easy going and dont mind a few minor discomforts then go ahead ill recommend it.

The hotel room was very clean especially the bathroom. I like clean bath rooms. The people were also very friendly and there was also a shuttle to bring us to do our shopping shopping.

That was 2 girls at the front desk that were very rude on the phone and in person. The rest was fine and the Hotel was going through renovation, so it was not the best place to stay!

The hotel was very nice. Our room was very comfortable and clean. One thing i didn't like was that the shower had very little water pressure. Also the pool was not as clean as i thought it would be. The breakfast was not heaven but it was very good for the price we paid. Overall, a good place that needs a little improvement.

Upon arriving, the lights in my room weren't working. No other rooms were available. It took about an hour for someone to show up and take care of the problem. Most of the people working at the front desk behaved as if I was troubling them when I asked them to correct the hotel's short falls (lights in my room, the AC going out, inoperable door locks). There is a major renovation project taking place at the hotel. The lobby is a construction zone. The hotel has a bug problem. I saw bugs in the dinning room. I will give the credit for the cleanliness of my room. The housekeepers were very costumer oriented. My overall stay was less than acceptable.

The hotel was in remodalation ( we understand that), The bell boy never arrived to our room when we called. We never spect that breackfast when they said it was inclid in the room cost We paid for extra person in the room but the no provide the bed, ofcourse wit extra cost.

This is a nice, clean hotel. They were doing some remodeling in the lobby area but that did not inconvenience us. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got a special discounted price for booking on hotels.com instead of at the front desk. We were very satisfied with our stay there.

I love this hotel is great its close to the palmetto express way there are close places to eat the mall is in the front you actually walk across the stree and the beds are great..nice and confortable, clean rooms and big with nice view... also has a club downstairs wich makes it great if u just got in and need to loosen up time...overall it is AWSOME!!!

They charged extra person fee. But they didn't give the extra person a free breakfast coupon. Furthermore, the vending machine did not properly work, taking more money than stated!

I was pleased with the hotel, until my 18 month nephew was walking around the room and entered the bathroom, his new game is to flush the toilet, as soon as I saw him enter the bathroom I followed him, only to find him trying to grab a medium-sized cockroach in the bathroom!. Please be more thorough in the cleaning process of the hotels. Luckily I was only staying there one night.

This hotel was situated in Hialeah, not even close to where I was going, but for the price, it was ok. The staff was always friendly and willing to help. Breakfast wasn't that good, it did not have variety in it, and the room service was expensive. I did not used the pool but then again, it didn't look too good. The lobby was a little messy, because I believe they were renovating. Overall it was a good hotel for the price to stay in if you just want to sleep some hours and after that not be in your room.

Tried to check in at 3pm, room was not ready, front desk said 20 minutes. 20 minutes later still not ready, did get up graded to king bed room. Carpet was dirty and a sitting chair had the remains of gum on it, bathroom floor could have been cleaner. Hotel is surrounded by expressway and busy streets, noise. Lobby staff was nice, the lobby ceiling was stripped and under construction.

Liked: location is OK - close to shopping centers if you like shopping. We only stayed one night as part of a cruise trip so shopping wasn't a factor for us. Service was OK. Did not like: facilities seemed a bit dated. Sink shows its age. Not the freshest air but tolerable.
