"Comfort Inn Charleston SC"
I'm a local who took her friend from Fl on a site seeing tour around Charleston. Perfect location if need to be near the hospitals. Very reasonable priced and best of all free trolley picks up in front of motel. Beds & pillows were the greatest haven't slept that good in years. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We got a large room with a fridge and microwave for a great price. The staff were very friendly. There was some construction which caused long waits for the elevator. There is a trolley stop steps away from the hotel entrance which mafe it convenient to use the free public transportation.Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall it was ok... everyone was nice but the bathtub was filled with water when we got to the room and that sort of ruined it for me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Above average for value, excellent, friendly staff"
Very helpful staff, near major roads, best breakfast hostess ever with good quality and variety.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Adequate lodging close to MUSC"
Perfectly adequate hotel, considering the room rate, for a short visit. I needed a hotel near MUSC; this was the closest. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There was no hot water my first morning, so I had to take a cool shower. The second morning, there was no heat in the eating area. The hallway smelled musty and dirty. My room was next […] door to a large room used by the hotel for storage. Junk was piled high in that room. There was a poor smell coming from the room, and the door was open all day long, contributing to the musty smell in the hallway. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to downtown"
We stayed for just an overnight for a weekend trip. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size. The hotel staff wasn't very helpful about anything to do with charleston or the area... Which I don't see how they really don't know about the area. The cleaning staff is highly noisy when starting their work early in the morning. This what actually […] woke us up was the staff banging carts and talking loudly at like 8 in the morning. The breakfast was nice and had variety. This is a good place for a 1 to 2 night stay if you already know what to do and where to go in the city. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"True Southern hospitality permeated our stay."
The staff was courteous and helpful. A mix-up on our room was quickly resolved. Anthony was hard-working on our behalf, always gracious, and never without a smile. Our rooms were clean and accommodating. The bathroom was roomy. Many delicious choices were available at the continental breakfast which gave each of our four days in historic Charleston […] a GREAT start. Thanks to all at the Comfort Inn who made our stay positively memorable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Comfort Inn Downtown Charleston Thank you for staying with us while in Charleston. I am please that you enjoyed your stay with us. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Needed a hotel near our conference, this was the only one available. Reviews weren't favorable but my daughter and I were pleasantly surprised. A little dated but front staff member Josephine deserves an excellence award. Free breakfast was convenient and tasty. Hot water was plentiful and water pressure superb. For the price It is excellent value.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were a bit concerned that the hotel was one of the few available in the historic district during Restaurant Week and the marathon run weekend with a low nightly rate. But we're surprised ...stay was pleasant, hotel staff friendly and helpful, breakfast super, room clean, bed comfy. Hotel borders historic district but 6 minute drive to center or a […] shuttle next door makes it perfect. Quiet area. Only complaint would be the noisy guests returning at 230 a.m. Normally stay in historic district but booked too late. Would return to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My friend and I needed a well-priced, functional hotel to stay in during the night before the Charleston Marathon. We were both very happy with our stay. It was conveniently located, clean, and the staff did their best to accommodate all of our needs (and succeeded).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The front desk staff was excellent. The lady at the desk (around 7:00 PM , Fri. Jan. 17) actually had another member of staff move her car so we could park near the entrance. When we asked for help to copy items, the staff was helpful. The breakfast on Jan. 18 was great, and the lady who cared for it was really nice. The room (a handicapped one) was […] clean and nicely appointed. A nice motel--an excellent staff. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"in need of renovation"
one elevator operational for a seven story building. parking is difficult, if not impossible. shabby interior. has forever changed the hotel chain I will be booking while traveling. breakfast was good. coffee was the worst ever encountered. staff friendly, polite, and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We saw two bugs in our room. They did move us to another room that we didn't see any bugs. Only one elevator worked and the fire alarm went off at 1:30 one morning. Not good.Genuine Expedia guest review
This was our 1st time in Charleston, SC. Upon arrival the staff was real nice. They greeted us and seemed like they wanted us to stay there. Very happy people. Even the cleaning and maintenance staff were nice. Everyone was real clean too. Our room was Very Clean and smelled so good. The housekeeping staff was alert and glad to see us too. The Breakfast […] was out of this world. For a lower priced hotel, it beat everything around. I mean we had Fresh Fruits, Breads, Muffins, Juices, Biscuits, Gravy, Milk, Cereal, Eggs, Sausage, Yogurt, and More! We will definitely stay here the next time we visit. The front desk staff was extremely nice. Joseph and the girl working with him assisted us very quickly. We arrived way to early for normal check in however, they communicated with the other staff and got us a room ASAP. THANK YOU goes to the Manager of this Hotel (which I never saw). "Above average and nice hotel"
Other than the lengthy check-in process and somewhat limited parking,it's a very good place to stay. Definitely not within walking distance of sights but a short drive to historic downtown Charleston.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't trust the advertising."
The advertising is misleading. If there were any upgradings in the motel I don't know where. The walls are paper thin. Getting to sleep before 11:30pm was impossible because of the noise. One night it was 12:30am, and our room was supposed to be a quiet location in the motel. The entrance and lobby depressing. The parking lot needs major upgrading. Response by Comfort Inn Downtown Charleston Thank you for filling out the survey. We renovated about 2 years ago with all new furniture, new carpet, the lobby was completely remodled also. We have beautiful stone walls and in the sitting area we have a fireplace and a flatscreen television. We so know that parking is an issure here so we have an overflow area and free valet parking so our guests do not have to get up early in the morning to move their car our of the overflow area. I am glad that you enjoyed the hot breakfast and that the staff met your expectations. We hope to have you come back again.
"Close to Historic District"
The only decent thing was the price. For a weekend in Charleston the others were way to pricey $$$$. This facility is old , across from the VA Hospital, parking poor to non existent. Lot very small for amount of traffic to the bldg. Ice Machine on one floor only and shared space with laundry facility. Not an area to walk to or from for any events or […] sightseeing. Decent breakfast but very limited seating, many folks took their plates to the lobby seating. Overall not my usual expedia experience. Bldg's main issue was age and lack of updates Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Comfort Inn Downtown Charleston This is an older building but we have been renovated about 2 years ago. There is a free trolly that picks up right next to the hotel for the guests that do not want to walk to downtown, which runs until 8:00 pm. We do have limited parking but we have an overflow area at the credit union right next to the hotel and we have a free valet service for our guests that do not want to get up early in the morning to move their car baack into our lot. We have ice machines on 3,4,5 and 7 plus one in the kitchen for our guests convenience. I hope you will come stay with us again.
As an asthmatic, I did not appreciate staying in a hotel room on a smokers floor. The smell was horrible and when I went to wash the smell out of my hair, I was greeted with no hot water. Will never stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Comfort Inn Downtown Charleston I apologize that you were put on the smoking floor. We did have a problem with the hot water that day and it has since been fixed. I hope you will stay with us again so we can show you that your next stay will be a pleasant one.
Great! I'll come again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Easy trolley access to historic district"
The hotel is reasonably priced for its location not too far from the historic district. Most attractions are too far for most walkers, but a trolley stop is close by. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast okay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Breakfast and worker during breakfast was very good. Sheet and blankets had stains on them. Bed pillows were very lumpy. When provided "clean" blankets they were not packaged. The hotel manager changed our room and provided better pillows and no stained linens. The blankets were rough. This hotel needs some major improvements.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had asked for hotel in Historical District of Charleston, and this was not. But, it was no too far a drive. This particular hotel should not be listed in Historical District.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great, inexpensive spot in Charleston"
Really enjoyed the hotel, slightly out of the way of the historic district but really not a problem at all. I would definitely stay here again and for the price compared to the rest of Charleston, definitely worth it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Comfort Inn Downtown Charleston Thank you for staying with us while you were visiting Charleston. As you stated we are not in the heart of the historic area but there is a free trolly that picks up right next to the hotel and that will take you down to the heart of the historic area. We look forward to seeing you again.
The first night we stayed in the hotel the fire alarm went of 3am due to a drop in water pressure. After waiting outside we had to stand in line for a long time since the employee present didn't know how to get access to the staircase. Even before the fire alarm we got woken up regularly due to loud noises from the hallway of people coming back from […] clubbing or something and they were even playing soccer with a full pizza box. Besides all that the hotel was fine and the lady at the front desk that helped us check in was fantastic. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"good value for Charleston but not historic area"
Location: good location but really not talking distance to the historic district (and we enjoy long walks); Facilities: clean and friendly; Breakfast: okay continental breakfast heavy on carbs and light on fruit selections, but handy and nice that it is includedGenuine Expedia guest review
Very nice hotel stay. Parking while free is somewhat limited. Located right next to the free Charleston trolley to the historic area. We would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Key machine not working so staff opened room for us 1st day. Fixed next morning. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was pleasantly polite, BUT we stayed there because wanted a fitness room. This one was small, lacked towels, a weight bench, a matched set of free weights in the lower weight range, and any form of cleaning product, and one of the four old pieces of aerobic equipment, the only ones available, was out of order. This might have been tolerable […] had the facilities themselves been less dingy, BUT they were dingy. The "remodeled" bathroom included peeling floor vinyl and a dirty shower walls. Also that weekend the keys were malfunctioning, so we had to get the staff to open the room, the shower water was tepid and low flow, the towels were like paper and the trolley to town did not come. "First trip to Charleston"
Stayed there the week of OCT 4-7 for a friends wedding. Location was close and convenient to Calhoun and King street, a little far to walk but we found parking around the area. Front desk stayed seemed overwhelmed when we initially tried to check it at 1pm and said rooms wouldn't be ready for another hour at the earliest. Room was decent with huge bathroom, […] but not the cleanest place I've stayed. Bed was comfortable which is important, but water pressure if shower was awful. They had a nice little breakfast each morning for guests, so that was an added bonus. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable, but a little noisy"
The room was spacious, the bathroom and shower were decent, bed was comfortable with good pillows. The room was clean. Good location but it wasn't walkable distance to anything. Just ok...a little far from center city. Parking is an issue in Charleston, so you must either pay for public or walk. Free Trolley is offered by the City, but only runs certain times. As far as the room...clean and comfy for a 2 night stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay at the comfort in was very pleasent. The room looked like the pictures online, very clean and simple. The free breakfast was nice and the service with breakfast and front desk was very friendly. Only down fall was the windows didn't open in the room and they were a little small. Made the room feel a little more cramped and contained. Overall […] a good stay for the price and close location to market st and kings st. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for Hospital/MUSC"
This hotel is in a good location for those needing to be near the hospital complex or the MUSC campus. However, f you are a tourist wanting to be downtown, it is about a 35-45 minute walk. There is the free Charleston trolley system that picks you up right outside the hotel every half hour and takes you to the tourist center. It is a 2 star hotel, so […] it isn't that nice or updated. "Showing its Age - Inside and Out"
Great location in Charleston. All of the staff was very friendly, courteous, professional. Great morning breakfast area - and super attendant. Rooms are clean. Only drawback is that the age of the facility is showing; definitely needs a re-model or sprucing up to be competitive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is located about 1.5 miles to historical Meeting/Market Streets. We still had to drive into the historical area but its very easy and parking on the street was doable (but not always easy). There is also a free shuttle that would've taken us into the area but the shuttle didn't run all that frequently. The hotel offered almost everything you […] need -- breakfast, wi-fi, business center, pool, laundry, and exercise room. The one negative is parking. There was a wedding party staying at the hotel and parking was slim to none. Fortunately, the hotel has an agreement with the bank located adjacent to the hotel which allowed guest to use their parking lot as long as you have the hotel parking permit displayed on your dash. The front desk was very friendly despite our room not quite being ready...we showed up a couple of hours prior to the check-in time. But overall the hotel offers a great value if you don't mind staying just a few minutes outside of the historical area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was OK. The people who stayed across the hall from us where in the hall screaming and talking in the middle of the night. I finally had to get up and tell them to go to bed and I asked the hotel staff to please consult them about their behavior if they were staying again the next night which they did. Noise was an issue anyway as the doors […] were extremely loud opening or closing. The beds are not very comfortable here either. If I go to Charleston again I will try to stay in a location where I can walk to some venues which will cost more but be worth it in the end. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
