"Great Time Had By All"

We needed a place to stay close to the Horse Track / Casino. I found good reviews about the Holiday Inn and they had a shuttle to the casino. A free shuttle! I made reservations for 4 rooms about 2 months in advance. 3 Days before we left, I received an email saying they cant wait to welcome us soon and please call with any requests. Wow. As much as I travel, I have never received that email. We arrived about 30 minutes before check in and we were greeted with a friendly staff and some amazing cookies. We were all upgraded from queen rooms to king for free. That was awesome. We didn't even ask and we were delighted. Our rooms were perfect. The view was great. I loved looking out and seeing the mountains in the background. I wouldn't want to drive up to the hotel in an ice storm because it is on a hill but that wasn't an issue while we were there. We all enjoyed some of those cookies at the front desk while I inquired about using the shuttle. I was told to just let them know within about 15 minutes of our requested departure time. We went to a nearby restaurant Leggio's for lunch. If your in the area and you have a chance... stop there. They have great food and a nice bar. We returned to the hotel and ordered up our shuttle for 7 and off we went to watch our horses race. We made a time for our driver to pick us up when the races were over. I would imagine in the busy season the shuttle may not always be available. However, the casino/ track is not that far away and would be an affordable cab ride if necessary. Our driver was so accommodating and we appreciated how he took care of us. Our rooms were clean, the beds were amazing, the bathrooms were nice sized. Each and every person in my party loved staying here. In the morning, we all met for our free breakfast and I was blown away. They had a pancake maker, sausage gravy, bacon, eggs, and turkey sausage. Not to mention all the breakfast breads and condiments you could possibly think of. That free breakfast saved us at least 80 dollars. We were on our way by 9am. I can not say enough about this hotel. The staff was awesome, the hotel is beautiful, and we have decided to go back at least twice a year.

Located close by the casino/racetrack in the Poconos. Clean and comfortable. Quiet rooms. Perfect for our stay. They have taxi service. We used this several times, didnt want to drink and drive. I highly recommend this hotel rather than the casino hotel, much more reasonable pricewise.
"Nice but there's room for improvement"

This HIE has a good vibe. It's up a winding hill road removed from any highway noise. The staff was very friendly and they offer free cookies, which all hotels should do if they want to make me happy. It is within minutes of 24 hour diners, decent restaurants, and shopping. The room came with a charming little bathroom featuring three-way angled mirrors and very nice shower pressure. That said, there are some minuses. My room had only two available outlets below the desk forcing me to unplug the microwave and/or fridge to accommodate other devices. The alternative was to move a heavy dresser and dig out the extension cord behind it. If you have multiple devices to power within easy desk access, it's a problem. The TV picture quality was poor for a flat screen; it was like watching on an old tube unit. There was also no plug and play capability for external devices like Roku or gaming consoles. It was possible to attach cables to ports in the back of the TV, but input switching was disabled. The bed was a bit springy compared to most modern hotel mattresses. It wasn't a terrible night's sleep; just not a great one. The bedding was clean but not soft -- unexceptional sheets and a flimsy comforter. The wifi was unreliable. Page loading tended to move at 3G speed, which is fairly typical in hotels unfortunately. I had a decent stay but this HIE doesn't compare favorably to other hotels at the same price point. I would give it two and a half stars but I am rounding up to three. Despite it's drawbacks, it seems well-managed and deserves another chance.

Easy to get to. Near Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs. Reasonably priced. decent breakfast, coffee was pretty good. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. I gave it 4 out of 5 only because walls and floors do not block sound well. Was awaken at 4am thinking there was running water in the bathroom or something could be leaking. Nope it was someone showering in the room above us. The pipe to there drainage was in our bathroom ceiling with an open vent. Phew. Had a hard time falling back to sleep. Aside from that, everything was wonderful.
"Absolutely 100% Recommended Staying Here"

Thank you, Holiday Inn Express. The hotel is clean (love the lobby scent) and the front desk was friendly, welcoming, informative and helpful. (Happy employees is a great reflection on any establishment.) The room was perfect for our overnight stay in Wilkes Barre. Well-designed and thank you for having something as simple as great reading lights by the bed.
"Great for a Quick Visit"

I was only only for here for a quick overnight business trip, but the staff was very courteous and the room was fine. They have very reasonable rates for business travelers and a nice buffet breakfast.
"Nice spot for a group event"

Wish I could do 3.5 stars.... PROS: - Upgrade from Best Western to Holiday Inn has nicely refreshed a worn out hotel - Nicely renovated rooms and good work space - Staff in Bistro restaurant/bar very attentive and welcoming - Good food in the Bistro - full Breakfast buffet included in cost of room - Hosted a training event for 60 people and hotel staff did a great job of offering advanced ordering for lunch. Food was quickly delivered once guests were seated. CONS: - Upon arrival front desk staff more concerned about passing out paychecks to hotel staff than greeting and checking in a new guest. - Room keys failed during visit and front desk staff, while efficient, was less than friendly and offered no apology for inconvenience. I felt like I was interrupting them. - Air conditioning in Bistro was like sitting in a wind tunnel. Stuff was blowing off bar. Had I not had a jacket I could not have stayed to eat my meal. Overall much improved over worn out old hotel but a few improvements could make it way above average.
"Very Nice Refurbishment!"

Spent the night in this hotel at recommendation of a relative who lives in the area! The hotel has been recently refurbished and it has been done well! The room was nicely decorated and had a King size bed! A nice breakfast was included the next morning and wasn't the usual cold cereal , danish and old hard boiled eggs! Juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage a lovely french toast casserole. Only complaints, no fridge in the room you have to request one and the fan on the A/C was very noisy! Which to be fair we never complained about! Staff at the front desk had trouble locating our reservation but quickly found it and dispatched us to our rooms! Would definately recommend this if you are in the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton area!
"EXCELLENT Customer Service"

Myself and friends spent Saturday night at this hotel, we originally planned the hotel at Mohegan Sun but their rates were ridiculous. Holiday Inn had very reasonable rates but the reason our next trip will be staying here again was the staff. When we first walked in we were greeted very nice with the front desk woman behind the counter, we joked and laughed it was very friendly experience(i wish I could remember names) There was a free shuttle service to local attractions and who could argue that, but what put that over the top was the driver. We went to casino late but although he said it was not hotel normal operation he actually stayed late so we could enjoy the casino and still have a way back to hotel. He was very friendly very personable and very good at customer service and interacting with guests. We felt more like friends than guests here. I don't know if I could say his name so I won't but to say I am glad we didn't need him to put us on the luggage cart to get us to our room, but good to know the service was there lol(inside joke, we discussed how we would make it back if we got too drunk, he offered to carry us to the van and wheel us to our rooms) Before I write a book, I am glad we made this hotel our choice. The rooms were very clean, the hotel in general was very clean, the pool was crystal clear and very relaxing, breakfast was real nice with a few hot choices(eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes not just muffins and cold cereal) My only let downs were the mattresses they were a little too hard and the accessory furniture was way, way too big for these rooms sitting at the desk without moving the bed is almost impossible.

First time staying here and I will come back to visit. Close to my son's college and to the shopping area. Room was small but was clean and nice. The bathroom was pleasantly nice with modern decor. Reminds me a little of a spa. Staff was nice and nice atmosphere. We were missing a set of towels and as I was going to my car, I saw a housekeeper and by the time I got back, she had delivered the towels to the room.
