great location for my destination... hotel room was nothing as shown in picture, hotel is very old and smelled... clerks upfront were rude and not helpful... will I stay here again, NOGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"comfy hotel, sketchy neighborhood"
I stayed for about 10 days. Room was comfortable for the price. Lamp lights beside the beds at the room went out after a couple of nights though. Had some stranger knock on my door at 8-9pm. Glad he went away though since he didn't state his purpose. Have not tried their complimentary breakfast as I had to always leave early so I can't comment on […] that. For someone like me who doesn't drive, then need to make sure to grab dinner before going home. Bottomline: If you want to stay for cheap, are careful with your stuff, go home while there's still light and more or less don't go out at night, this hotel might just be for you. It's perfect for the price you're paying. We had no issues with the service or the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not a great area."
This motel has a good price for being located close to austin but the surrounding area is sketchy. Lots of people standing around outside making it uncomfortable to walk around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pillows were nice. Found a few bugs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel room was smoking one, and there were giant burn marks in all the bed covers. The toilet broke the first day as well. :<Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Was very satisfied during my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Acceptable for price"
Sketchy feel about the place, felt like we were in the ghetto, but for the price it worked.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was disgusting. Stains on bed sheets, dried urine on toilet seats. Called front desk and they said they could not do anything, because all room cleaners were already gone. Completely unacceptable!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My stay was fine, that's all I have to say. It was a bit expensive for what it was, but still one of the cheapest I could find, and not too bad. Served it's purpose, pretty much:)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A place to lay our heads"
bed was comfortable and clean. Toilet flushed super powerfully, as if it were going to rocket to the moon. Bathroom had evidence of previous water damage, repaired and painted over sloppily. Lobby smelled a bit.Breakfast was simple; cofee was bitter and weak.Genuine Expedia guest review
"omg!!! I was scared to leave my car parked outside"
thank God I drank enough to pass out so I wouldn't be able to hear the noises or see the grossness of this motel. this place needs to be gutted and reconditioned.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
One of those hotels I'm shocked that a brand name is associated with. Falling apart, smelly and worn. Weird tiny bathrooms with severely used fixtures. At least the bed was clean. Bring your own pillows.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is about a $10-15 cab ride from downtown which was nice. The hotel could have been cleaner. The housekeepers didn't service the rooms entirely. ( didn't make the bed) The front desk girl wasn't very helpful. We asked for a cab, she gave us the wrong number. ( shouldn't she have called for us?) She was slouching in her chair, she didn't look […] like she wanted to be there.. We didn't stay in our room very much during our trip, so that actually help their rating. "Good for somewhat close access to AUS"
You are right on I-35, and 10-15 minutes from Austin-Bergstrom. If you just need somewhere cheap before or after a flight into AUS, stay here. The place could use some updating. If you need more amenities or a higher level of comfort, there are probably better options in the vicinity.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just fine if you only need a place to crash."
My buddy and I were in town to see a concert, arriving late afternoon, and leaving early the next day. All we needed was a cheap room to throw our stuff while we went out, and two beds for when we returned. This place fit that bill. There's a convenience store next door which was kind of convenient, I guess. The entire place smells like cigarettes, […] so that's kind of a bummer. I didn't even know they had smoking rooms anymore, but ours came with two ashtrays. I'd requested non-smoking, but that seems like a hotels.com grey area to begin with. It wasn't a deal breaker for us, and we were only checked in for about 11 hours total. We had low expectations, and this place met them. I will say that the front desk was courteous and the place seemed safe, despite looking pretty haggard. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a nice hotel"
Everything was low quality - shower head broken, door peeling, carpet dirty, phone cord missing, etc. etc. I visit family in South Austin quite often and have stayed in other hotels in the I-35 corridor south of downtown. This was the least pleasant experience so far.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not happy with my stay, disappointed with my rooom"
These are the reasons I was disappointed with my stay at this hotel - my room had the stench of cigarette smoke, I would have liked a smoke-free room - when I first entered the room, the window was open and some bugs were in the room because of it - there was a condom pack and a packet in one of the drawers, I wasn't happy at all to see that the room […] wasn't properly cleaned to remove things like this (which the previous guest had left in there?) - the hotel in reality wasn't as good as the pictures I saw on the web-site. For some reason the pictures show more spacious rooms, lobby etc. - I requested a wake-up call at an early morning time (bet 4 and 5am) as I had an early morning flight to catch. I NEVER got this call. Luckily I had set an alarm on my smartphone which woke me up so I didn't miss my flight but this is a very serious issue which should be treated as such. - the hotel fitness center (gym) has a broken door that I could not open and the receptionist had to try very hard to open it for me. - the TV in the fitness center has a missing remote - the TV in my room is an old style (non-LCD, non-digital, non-HD kind) TV which you almost don't find anywhere else. - the wi-fi thankfully worked but I needed to authenticate every few minutes which is annoying. This hotel was very hard to find due to its sign being hidden by trees. Good luck with finding it at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to city center and airport (in between both)"
Front desk people were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable. They didn't even charge us any fees even though we checked out 45 mins late.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I'm afraid but the hotel was so bad."
Really bad conditions, carpet, bed, restrooms... We have to change 3 times The room. No light in one, blankets in bad conditions in the second one...Genuine Expedia guest review
Breakfast was pretty lame. English muffins, 1 donut and stale bagels. And this was at 7 am, one hour after "serving" began.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"good location for downtown"
the hotel was fine. i was attending a conference at the Austin Convention Center and found it very easy to get there by bus from the Howard Johnson. I walked 1 block to catch the #7 bus which took me to within 3 blocks of the convention center, cost $1, took 35min. i also took bus to eat dinner. breakfast was cereal and pastries.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get what you pay for!"
Very Old...Very Noisy...Didnt sleep at all either night we stayed. My friends reservation was CANCELLLED COMPLETELY with no warning and so when he showed up...had no place to stay. Austin was pretty much booked that entire weekend. Ended up in College STation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"They should pay people to stay there."
Miserable, dirty and hard to find (they have their sign obscured probably out of shame). Other than that, still terrible. Expedia should expedite a refund for this experience! In the name of humanity, end your association with this fleabag outfit! Free breakfast? Why would one mix Raisin Bran crumbs and Cinnamon Crunch crumbs together? I don't know..to […] make more crumbs? The hard boiled eggs were obviously made pre 9/11 and jam for the English muffin that doesn't toast in the half of the toaster that's supposed to work? Naw, the supplier hasn't been in touch for more than a week, they told me. Really?! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't even think about it."
I have stayed in many Howard Johnson hotels over the course of my life, and never encountered anything like this. I do no frills, I do tiny, I don't care....but I don't do dirty. And this place was *incredibly* dirty....and I mean walking to the room sunflower seed shells, gum, crud etc.was clearly visible where the floorboards met the carpet. There […] was graffiti on the floor lamp post, duck tape holding the phone wire to the desk, and the veneer on the unit holding the TV was completely peeled off in sections. The room looked like it had been furnished by way of a dumpster diving excursion, and it smelled like a bar bathroom. Our front door was damaged along the edge where the lock was positioned, as if someone had pried it open with a crowbar. When we asked for another room, we were given one on the main floor that smelled overwhelmingly of mold. Checking out the bathroom, I found a silverfish in the tub, a centipede on the wall, and an abundance of mold behind the toilette. Austin hotels were sold out for the weekend and we didn't have anywhere else to stay, but we turned in our hotel key and decided to head downtown to try our luck. "DO NOT STAY HERE!!"
I arrived at midnight. The room hadn't been cleaned. The other bedcover had cigarette burns in it. The hallways smelled of smoke. It was disgusting. I had to leave and go to another hotel. Gross.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Helpful staff, convenient location, needs updating"
Centrally located, although very difficult to see from I-35 until you are past the hotel. The front desk staff worked diligently to help me after I made a booking error and ultimately resolved it to my satisfaction. The breakfast was very basic and the hotel itself definitely needs updating, but it was clean and quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Despite being charged for two rooms they only had a reservation for one room. I canceled my reservation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will never stay again."

"Difficult to access from the airport."
It was less than I expected from a Howard Johnson.Genuine Expedia guest review
room was not cleaned properly after someone smoked there. The place was overpriced for the room. Hotel 6 would have been as good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Housekeeping very rude. I asked for a towel and she told me I had enough because I was the only person in the room. No work out room no pool no vending machines and breakfast was terrible. People still smoke in non smoking hotel. That hotel needs a lot of work.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Low budget, low cleanliness option."
Parking lot dirty, beer cans and bottles scattered in landscaping. Only rooms remaining we're smoking, and it was extremely obvious. The maintenance of the facility is definitely 2nd or 3rd rate.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not overly impressed"
You get what you pay for. Not great but not terrible eitherGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was fine. The workers were very friendly and helpful. I woud recommend the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room carpet was filthy. Room stank with a mildewy smell. Carpet in one area was soaked with water and seemed to be rotting -- probably had been wet a very long time. Staff were nice and friendly though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I got the feeling that very little effort was put in to this place. I have definitely stayed in worse, but this place was pretty bad. Negatives - strong, musty smell, no hot water from sink faucet, dirty carpet, bathroom walls unfinished near the floor, small room. Positive - fairly close to South Congress, though too far to walk.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was not a nice or clean spot. I payed for a "king" sized bed which was actually just a double. The TV did not work and the room was tiny because it was right next to the elevator shaft. Highly recommend staying somewhere else if you have the option.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was scary and the neighborhood around the hotel was scary!Hotel was very run down and we must have been placed on the smoking floor as we could smell smoke everytime we went near the door. The hotel could use some major upgrades, glad we only stayed there one night!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was missing an alarm clock and ice container. The wallpaper was peeling in several places. The bedspread had a cigarette hole in it. The pool was not operational. The electrical plugs in some of the outlets quit functioning and the commode flushed intermittently and the bathtub didn't drain right.Genuine Expedia guest review
Place was very small. It looked old and run down. Dining area was super small snd the breakfast did not appear appetizing at all.Genuine Expedia guest review
