"Not what you are probably expecting...."
I was seriously disappointed by the condition of this hotel, which is probably why they are renovating it. The hotel had a very smokey smell everywhere and for a non-smoker it made me feel sick. It was drab and old. Throughout our visit we stayed at 3 other hotels, in the same price range, that were much much nicer. I would recommend you stay elsew […] here. "Gorgeous Mid-Century Hotel"
Absolutely lovely hotel. Felt like a time capsule. Stay there now before they re-do it for the Olympics! (Would be such a shame to change such a jewel of a hotel)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stunning hotel in central Tokyo"
Public spaces are among the most beautiful in the world (stunning yet understated elegant mid century decor. Photos on web site do not capture it at all). Lovely rooms; excellent staff. Everything you could hope for in a city hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The decor and atmosphere of Hotel Okura is second to none. Impeccable decor. However, I was placed in a non-smoking room in a smoking floor, where someone who was staying there was smoking like a chimney and the smoke seeped into my room. Luckily the hotel transferred me to a non-smoking floor! I wished they asked me when I checked in whether I wanted […] a non-smoking floor and it would have alleviated the hassle of changing rooms. Room is very very small!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I knew it's a hotel with history when I booked it so I wont complain on the cracked wall or broken furniture. The housekeeping is not as good as other business hotels I've stayed in Tokyo. Despite the fact we only used 2 pairs of slippers, the housekeeper somehow came up with another pair from who-knows-where and put them altogether...I must say I felt […] a bit creepy to see 3 pairs of slippers when I got back pretty late. The staff is very friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent hotel, close to 2 metro stations"
This was our first visit to Tokyo, Japan. We did not know much about the locations, but followed Expedia's suggestion and booked Okura hotel. Not only this location was excellent, the hotel was clean, hotel staff was amazing. Because I am VIP/Gold member and it was my birthday, they upgraded our room. Wow! Hotel is in safe area, walking distance to […] the Tokyo Tower and 2 metro stations to Ginza ( shopping area). All tours, including transport to the airport was arranged by awesome hotel concierges. Hotel has several restaurants, including cafe shop with a great selection of pastries, cookies etc. Across the street is Seven Eleven and Nobu restaurant. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Wonderful in all respects. Spacious rooms, excellent restaurants, prime location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Dated and Smokey hotel"
The hotel is fairly isolated in its location, the rooms and hallways have the odor of stale smoke and the carpet in my room was stained. The hotel restaurants were very expensive and quality was no better than much more reasonably priced restaurants elsewhere in Tokyo. I would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Hotel For Business Trip"
I like this hotel. This were so convenience for my business trip. But after so much of meeting at office, I need more facilities when I came back hotel. For example, I can not find smoking bar at main floor at 11:30 PM. I have gone to sub floor.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely design classic"
Hotel is a magnificent design classic that's in no way dated-- service, technology, superb food all available against a stunning 60s background. The Okura museum adjacent the hotel is well worth a visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The service is great and generally they make up for the old condition of the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great and classy hotel"
Too bad that the main building of the Okura is being torn down and replaced for the Olympics. This is an older property, but it is elegant in an understated way. My only complaint is that the bar allows smoking. There is a no smoking room off the bar. I think the bar should be non-smoking entirely. The staff are fantastic! But, the polite treatment […] is what one expects from upper end Japanese hotels. Food and drink are expensive, but this is the Okura. There are plenty of other fine dining options nearby. I highly recommend. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"One of the old, world class hotels"

"Highly reccomend this elegant hotel."
True japanese service! Taste of the past. Great stay would reccomend to anyone!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Okura Still Outstanding."
Have stayed at Okura many times, and they welcome returning guests better than any other that I know, anywhere. There is no sign of the pre-rebuild that is scheduled for next year. An old fashioned hotel in the very best sense.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a wonderful experience at the hotel. Always cabs avaaa Le at both wings. Rooms had been a good size with space to relax and work. Bath rooms provides room for you and spouse to get ready. Sits on a hill but the train station is only a few blocks away. Plus if you do not wish to walk they will provide a shuttle.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice old-fashioned hotel in a good location"
Close to many restaurants and subway station. Comfortable guest rooms, very helpful staff, old-world charm. We stayed in two connecting rooms. Rooms are quite. Internet is free. Only annoyance was a $20 charge per person for pool use and $35 for the gym.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfection adjacent to US Embassy"

"Unique and historical"
Best place to stay in Tokyo for the price! Go before they tear down this landmark hotel!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exactly what I wanted...classic Japanese hotel"
Great hotel in a very convenient location. Bus from Narita stops first at the hotel (60-90 minute ride). Every cab driver knows Hotel Okura, so even if you don't speak Japanese, you can tell the driver the hotel. Safe neighborhood (right across from US Embassy). Hotel restaurants are a bit overpriced.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel evokes the era of the early 1960s, when Japan was just coming into its own and preparing for the 1964 Olympics. A shame that the main building will soon be torn down, but I'm hoping the replacement will preserve the Okura's excellent service tradition --and the great breakfast at The Terrace (the best breakfast buffet in Tokyo)!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good hotel clean and authentic. To use the small gym everyday costs ~30 a day. If you join there rewards group you could wave the cost but they won't let you join if you use anything but their website to book hotel. The rooms are clean, beds are hard.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay at Okura Tokyo was truly wonderful. The staff were so helpful, the room was very spacious and comfortable, the restaurants are excellent. Will definitely stay there again! The neighborhood is quiet, however it's an easy subway to get anywhere you need in Tokyo.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outstanding service, great rooms"
This is a five-star business hotel in the government district of Tokyo. It has all the amenities you expect from such a hotel category. Service is excellent and the rooms are a very good-size. I was completely satisfied with my stay. I do have two points to advise others: 1.) The hotel is close to the Tokyo underground system but be aware it is up a […] fairly steep hill and not amenable if you are carrying your own suitcases. I would recommend taking a taxi to the hotel when you're checking in. 2.) The hotel restaurants are very pricey (at least $45 per person for dinner in the hotel coffee shop for a very basic meal to over $100 per person for dinner in the other restaurants). "Top notch hotel"
Service is over the top Japanese. Rooms have everything you could want and it's thoroughly explained to you when they walk you up to your room. My room had an extremely large shower with regular fixed showerhead, a hand showerhead and several side showerheads. Restaurants can be pricy but I had a dim sum all you can eat lunch for about 3200 yen which […] is reasonable. The hotel seems a little isolated. It takes about 10 ten minutes to walk to the subway station. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel and its staff understand the concept of peace and that of personal respect. A beautiful, classy, traditional experience. Full use of the gym, pool and sauna were 59000 yen, which is high enough that it prevented me from capping off my meditative stay, but a beautiful experience without it!Genuine Expedia guest review
"It needs a face lift bad. It is worn out"
Not great. Expedia said when I booked I may get an upgrade or something else. Got 0, nothing. They said nothing was available. A terrible experience. Charged me $4.00 for one cherry in the bar. They charge for peanuts in the bar.Genuine Expedia guest review
I absolutely love this hotel. A glamorous time capsule--they don't make them like this anymore.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to downtown shopping, US embassy and sites"
Week of site seeing, shopping and Disneyland. Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Bus direct to and from airport to front door is reasonably priced. Shopping in a number of districts is a cab ride away. Generally, shopping is reasonably priced. Hotel food very expensive, but more reasonably priced as you move around and look. "Historical property, but some parts feel "old""
Very retro and traditional old school hotel - feels like you stepped back into the 1970's - carpets seem to need replacing, but on the positive you are likely to run into women wearing kimono for events and such which is cool...we stayed on the Comfort Floor to avoid smoke smells...used the spa which was nice - great service esp if you need to get over […] jet lag Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not worth the price"
The location is excellent, it's clean, safe, and the hotel staff polite. However, it is not worth the premium price this hotel demands. Although authentically 'retro' from 1964, the decor hasn't been updated since. They allow smoking in the hotel rooms and even though I was on a 'non-smoking' floor, when I exited the elevators, the hallway smelled. […] Also, the smoke got into my room via the air vents. Unacceptable. The hotel fitness center tried to charge me more than fifty US dollars to work out one day in the gym. No thank you. For the price I was paying, I was floored how unimpressive my stay was. I'm pretty sure my TV had only 5 channels, none of them Japanese or world news channels. Beds and bath are nice, clean. But for my worldly travels, this is no where near a 5-star hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, great staff"
Well worth the cost.. Older exterior with remodeled rooms, but the service was spectacular.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clear and friendly. Good location."
Staff are friendly and helpful. Room is clean and in good condition. Location is very nice, metro station is in walking distance. Restaurants are great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice hot"
Hotel lobby and hallways look dated but the rooms are good size and the bathroom was amazing. Service is top notch, I mean there's a woman in a kimono and her sole job is to push the elevator button. I stayed in a floor that the price was higher and you got completmary accesses to the spa, but since I was there to see friends and was out all day that […] went to waste. "Nicely Appointed Older Property"
The hotel is definitely an older property in need of a "face lift"! I upgraded to a junior suite from a standard room with a parking lot view. Though the view from the "suite" (actually one large divided room), the view was only marginally better. The suite was nicely appointed, but there was no cabinet for clothing storage, only a closet with one shelf! […] Strange. Also, this so-called upgrade was very expensive. Though convenient to the US Embassy, this property is a good distance form the JR rail and subway lines, which is a big negative when traveling around Tokyo. The staff service was stellar...hearkening back to old days of ornately uniformed bellmen (and bell women) . In sum, nice old hotel, inconvenient to public transit, great staff service and hospitality, more expensive than necessary. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Once we were assigned a room, our overall experience was excellent. But it took awhile upon check-in to get a room on a non-smoking floor which was what we had requested upon making a reservation (and also we called the hotel directly in advance to confirm this request).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent hotel but far from mass transit"
The hotel service was excellent. Period. The hotel itself is a little old and it is starting to show, but very clean. Very comfortable bed. Good bathroom. The size of the room is HUGE compared to other Japanese hotels. The only bad point about the hotel was its location. It is about a 10min walk to the nearest subway station. Or a 10min, ~1750 Yen, […] taxi ride to JR Tokyo Station. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very well connected to metro and city"
Tokyo is just awesomeGenuine Expedia guest review
This is an elegant Classic Japanese Modern Designed Hotel built in the 1960's, and it has been perfectly maintained and updated with more modern conveniences. If you want quiet ambiance with perfect service, this quiet and reserved oasis is the place for you. It is where the action is not. I don't think there is a request that the excellent service […] staff can't fullfill and many times it is done within minutes of your request. Across from the American Embassy, it is a 5min to 10 min walk to the nearest subway stations. This is where the President chooses to stay when he visits Tokyo. He usually takes the entire South Wing of the Hotel. It is not inexpensive, but you are paying for quality which this has in spades. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good 5 star hotel for business travellers"
First time using expedia. No problems with booking at all. My room was in the main building. More modern and updated than the traditional lobby. Enough lights in the room to be brightly lit if desired, very modern and comfortable. Easy and good internet access. Good TV channel selection, including financial news. Exceptionally clean, no stains anywhere, […] and the hard to clean places were also clean (ie. shower corners, hair dryer cable, refridgerator, etc). Nice bathroom amenities. Comfortable bed for westerners (not rock hard like in many Japanese hotels), felt new (NO sag from too much use). Very professional staff. Fast and good room service. Excellent concierge support. Will definitely recommend this hotel to other people, particularly business travellers, and will stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
