Hallways smelled a little stale/smokey -- but other than that, very clean and comfortable hotel. Pretty close to subways/train stops. Very quiet area. Just a short walk (10 min) to the heart of Roppongi.

I stayed at Hotel Okura, Tokyo, for five days including the New Year's day. This is a superb hotel with all the luxury one may need. The service was fantastic: courteous, always available, however never imposing. What I liked most was the quiet hotel location, far from traffic yet close to Tokyo metro. With one excpetion, albeit one very large exception, this was a decent enough hotel. It's a little older and in some places it very much shows it's age but does retain some of it's 50's charm. The biggest problem with the hotel is that they do not guarantee your room choice. Your request for 2 beds, for example, is just that, merely a request. The Okura in Tokyo is one of the great hotels, maybe my favorite hotel anywhere. The staff is wonderful, the lobby is one of the most gorgeous rooms in Japan, or anywhere, all the public areas are lovely and immaculate, and the restaurants are fabulous. My only complaint is that the hotel charges guests outrageous amounts to use the gym and the pool. […] I paid $27 to have a swim, which is unconscionable in a major hotel. Finally the Okura has free wi-fi in the rooms, which they didn't before, but charging for the use of the gym and pool is wrong, and they should move past this. If you stay in a deluxe-enough room they waive the charge, but that just creates second-class guests, and that's wrong. But that's my only complaint. This is a great hotel, and I look forward to my next stay. I also look forward to the end of this ridiculous policy of charging to use the hotel facilities. Read more

My two sons and stayed here for a week and had a large comfortable room with three beds and a great shower. Excellent service. A bit retro, but in a very classy, subtle way. I half expected to see a 1960s silver Aston Martin parked out front. Not the easiest location to walk from as it is on top of a hill, but I would stay here again.

The hotel provided us with a cot and an extra bed for our two year old and four year old children which spared us from booking another room.( Expensive!) we had to pay a surcharge for the bed and cot but it was well worth it. The four of us managed quite well without feeling too crowded.

Very close to two stations. Walking distance to several nice shopping area's. Had a GREAT stay. We checked out at noon to catch a flight at 10pm that night. This is a good hotel but the cost is very high comparing to other hotels in Tokyo. I expect more at this price. The location is fine but the hotel is a bit old and there is no beautiful view. Most of the rooms look at the garage behind the hotel. I would prefer the Prince Park Tower hotel.

This hotel used to be the best hotel in Tokyo for a long time. The price is very resonable now compared to the new hotels but the quality of service is still outstanding. Only negative about this hotel is the distance to the train stations and that there is not much restaurants in the neigborhood.

I used to stay at the Okura in the early '90s and then would to put my company's visitors there after I moved to Tokyo. Its been about 15 years since I last stayed in the hotel, and it has lost not a spec of the elegance and class it has always had. The service defines Japanese excellence in that area. I suppose the strong Yen has discouraged international guests because the rate through Expedia was an unbelievably good one compared to other lesser hotels. I couldn't recommend the Okura Hotel highly enough as a once-in-a-lifetime splurge, and at recent rates its a phenomenal bargain for even the casual traveler to Tokyo. Read more
