The hotel is fabulous. Feels luxurious but not pretentious. And somehow it manages to feel intimate. I think that is because of the excellent staff. From the doorman to the concierge service to the stunning flower arrangements to the great coffe and excellent miso shiru this is a very comfortable place to be.

"Good old traditional hotel"
Probably the most famous hotel in Japan. Classic, traditonal from 1960's. Every japanese old man has some romantic feeling with Okura hotel. They demolished main building and only south one serve now. This makes me really upset. I like this hotel very much. Room is old furniture need to update. Still I have a great experience at hotel okura.

"Very clean and comfortable hotel"
This hotel was in a very quiet area of Tokyo, and across from the US Embassy. The hotel was about 6-7 blocks away from a subway stop that allowed you to get into the rest of Tokyo. Getting a cab from the hotel was easy as well. The room we stayed at was very clean and comfortable. The hotel had a nice dining room and bar, and the staff (particularly the concierge) was very helpful and spoke English quite well. The hotel architecture and furnishings are a bit dated, but everything is in immaculate condition and very clean. There is an indoor pool and work-out room but you have to pay extra to use those facilities, which was not clearly stated when I booked the hotel, and would have preferred not to do. One part of the hotel (separate building)is being renovated and when we got to the hotel, we thought that we had booked at a hotel that was closed. It turned out to be the south building which is being renovated and is to be completed before the Olympics in 2020. Just FYI, a cab from the Tokyo airport to the hotel is the equivalent of $200, so it's best to take one of the trains that runs from the airport to Tokyo station (about 45 minutes), and either transfer onto the subway and get off near the hotel, or take a cab from the Tokyo station to the hotel.

"Hotel need major renovation"
Half of the hotel, south wing already closed, main building is very outdated. We have to pay extra for gym, computer use at business center. It is not funny, but even bar works like fancy restourant, you can't walk in even if they have chairs and tables open. You need reservation day before breakfast :) . Just very old, traditional hotel, may be if you born in Japan and never seen rest of the world - than you can rate this hotel better

"A very relaxing and nice hotel & great staff."
We found the hotel to quite, ideally located within walking distance of shops, stores, restaurants, and other attractions. Very good public transportation is nearby. We were lucky to stay in the original building which will be closing at the end of the season for re-construction. It has classical style and grace, with beautiful architectural features. There are many shops and restaurants in the hotel, with good prices. But what makes this a Excellent hotel is the staff, this is service the way it was meant to be.

"A week pleasant stay"
We stayed at Okura for a week while in Tokyo. The facility is aging, but they maintain it very well. The staff is very professional and attentive. We enjoyed our stay. It is a little sad to know that their main building will be torn down soon. I hope they will keep the tranquil Japanese atmosphere in their new lobby.

"Only say here if you have business in Roppongi"
Old fashion Japanese hotel in Roppongi, a business area also loaded with foreign embassy. Hotel showed its age, definitely needing a remodeling. The place is huge but feel very empty, Cost extra to use the exercise room and another fee for using the pool! There are Seven-Eleven and Lawson within walking distance, the bread and coffer were actually very good there. The hotel is far from hopping and dinning scene. It is about 5 to 10 minutes walk to metro stop, Kamiyacho station, and take the Hibiya Line to make connection with other line. No JR station close to the hotel.

We love staying at the Okura. Our first visit was in the 1980's and have enjoyed each one. We are sad to see the main building close and hope that all the art and all things Japanese will be put into the new main building. We look forward to visiting again.

"One of Tokyo's Best"
Hotel Okura is located in a business district close to Roppongi. It has one of the best hotel staff I have ever encountered! It has a lot of great restaurants (Toh Ka Lin is quite renowned) that are worth your visit if budget is not a primary concern. In any case, I highly recommend the hotel.

"The One and Only Hotel Okura"
I wanted to stay at The Okura because it has been my favorite hotel in Tokyo for decades. And now that this icon will close its doors after August 31st, I really wanted to spend a long weekend here. I am so happy I did. I feel so sad though that this elegant, beautiful hotel will never be the same. When it reopens in 2019, it will be a skyscraper. If anyone has the opportunity to stay at Hotel Okura before it closes, you must seize the chance. It is one of the gems in the entire world.

This hotel is reminiscent of japan 1950s japan. Very retro elegance. kimono clad women were as common as Western style dress. doormen in tophats. Very old school. "Simply the best hotel in Tokyo"
I have stayed in many hotels in Tokyo including Okura hotel before, but once and again this hotel supersedes my expectations of service and quality and value. Simply put, I 've been to many hotels in Japan, and this one exemplifies the best japanese hospitality that I've seen. From the second you check in to the last minute, they are very attentive to your needs and presence. The rooms are very spacious and the feeling of being "at home" is there. "Classy Hotel Okura"
The Okura main building is a model of Japanese service and style in an understated way that seems timeless. It makes no attempt to be modern or flashy, but is subtle and classy. The rooms are very reasonably priced now for the central location across from the U.S. Embassy perhaps because a major construction project will take place shortly. This is a quiet location with little of interest in the nearby area but just a 5-minute walk from the subway. The restaurants are very expensive and not a good value but the breakfast buffet is popular and with a garden-side location is well worth going to.

"9 Nights in Tokyo"
The Hotel Okura is a fantastic establishment. It's located in an extremely quiet section of the city with great access to a number of subway lines (Kamiyacho, Roppongi, Toranomon and Roppongi-Itchome stations to name some - there are more!). The staff is amazing and extremely attentive to your needs... they really take pride in the work they do (though that seems to be a trend around Japan). I'd highly recommend staying here, whether for business or leisure.

"Great Hotel"
Loved the hotel. Very high end, helpful staff. Only have 2 issues: 1) use of swimming pool and gym is not complimentary. Considering this is a high end hotel with expensive room rates, one would think it is part of its inclusive amenities 2) Location is in a nice quiet area of ropongi. However walk to metro stop is about 10 minutes. And these are not JR rail stops.

"Awesome stay in Tokyo!"
Upon arrival, the staff was extremely courteous. There was no issue with language barriers of any sort. Room comfort was great. The hotel was extremely quiet throughout our stay. The shopping arcade in both the main building and south wing was very convenient. The arcade offers everything from shopping to an apothecary to a dentist. However, some of the clothing shops are rather pricey. Also, if you do not get the buffet breakfast included in your stay, you will be paying upwards of $30 per person to eat.

"Best location in Tokyo"
Hotel Okura is obviously at the best location in Tokyo, which is Rappongi district; Rappongi metro station is at 10 minutes walking distance, also the Arc Towers complex with lots of nice restaurants is just by the metro station. The small street between the hotel and the metro station is covered with Cherry Blossom (Sakura) trees on either side of the road. Tokyo tower is also close by the hotel; 5 minutes by taxi. Hotel staff is very respectful and helpful. Rooms are specious and comfortable. It is a bit old hotel, hence the carpet does not look very clean (a bit dusty behind furniture). However this hotel will be knocked down and renovated this year (2015), which then rooms will be new and cleaner. We will definitely stay in Hotel Okura in our next visit to Tokyo.

"Not what you are probably expecting...."
I was seriously disappointed by the condition of this hotel, which is probably why they are renovating it. The hotel had a very smokey smell everywhere and for a non-smoker it made me feel sick. It was drab and old. Throughout our visit we stayed at 3 other hotels, in the same price range, that were much much nicer. I would recommend you stay elsewhere.

"Lovely hotel, quiet neighborhood and good location"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Okura Hotel which has been there for 80 years. The staff are extremely nice, helpful and all speak English! The hotel has a traditional feeling and the many flower arrangements displayed around the hotel add a nice touch. They were kind enough to store my luggage for 2 days while we went to kyoto. I knew they would be safe:) My daughter liked it because it was traditional. We're glad to have experienced it before they tear it down to build a new hotel in preparation for the 2020 Olympics.
