Days Inn SeaWorld - Airport stated; the room I purchased included Two Queen beds when in fact the bed are Twin size. Perhaps the price of the room should be adjusted accordingly. I was very disappointed! I have stayed in other days inn but nothing like this. Room had a odd "musky" odor, shower faucet leaked all 2 days and did not have a curtain. When it was replaced, the curtain rod was very loose and the curtain gathered to the center. The toilet seat was so loose my young daughter fell partially in the toilet. Unacceptable. […] AC unit was leaking and spraying a mistvof water when turned on. Lastly.......There was security on the grounds but amazing no one could hear all the yelling and loud noise with in the courtyard area untill I called at 4am. Seriously. We booked this hotel just to spend the night before an early flight. "No frills hotel, cheap, and conveniently located"
If you are familiar with staying at a Days Inn, then you already know this isn't a high end hotel. It is a place to lay your head for the night. The linen and towels were clean, but looked like they could be retired. The air conditioner worked fine. The hotel is just old looking. The bathroom and fixtures could use improvement. "Decent Stay for One Night"
We shopped around before booking, and this was the best for its quality and price. Other hotels had lower rates but the reviews scared us from taking those chances so we went with this hotel. The room was fine, we only needed somewhere to sleep, shower and change for two days. Yes, things are a bit dated but we didn't mind. The bathtub had this rusting […] stain by the faucet and drain that you couldn't wash out; The shower curtain had some stains and hair but I just rinsed it down. The shower head was definitely old but I was still able to shower. We were trying to heat up our leftovers and the microwave wasn't plugged in so I had to pull it out and plug it into an available wall socket since it was out of reach. They had a working mini fridge. A/C was working fine. They offer WiFi but we didn't need to use it. The complimentary breakfast wasn't anything to write home about so don't expect much going in. Some terrible processed cereals, scrambled eggs, mini pancakes, toast, etc. Coffee and juice were offered too. We didn't eat anything there. Only major issue is that when we were packing our stuff into the car Sunday morning, we noticed the truck parked next to us hit our car door with their door. There was their color car paint on our door and a huge dent. We reported it to the front desk and she attempted to call their room 5 times but no answer, and nothing further was done. although the customer service was really good. I would not ever stay here again. My husband booked the hotel room for the family. He was not able to make it for check in and they almost didn't let me check in, while with two children and far from home i would been out on the street. I appreciated the convenience of their hotel being close to the airport. The rooms however were dingy and not worth the price. I was never able to reach him and I had called at least 4 times and left 3 voice messages. I asked other hotel clerks and they kept telling me only Joe could help me. It's been 10 days since the hotel stay, and he never once called me to even say they searched but couldn't find them. These are prescription glasses... who would want to steal these? I know for a fact I left them in the room.... my bad, but a courtesy return call was all I was asking for. Between the poor shape of the rooms and property and the even worse service, I would not recommend anyone staying here. I will be sure to stay somewhere else next time I visit San Diego. "Not a Good Experience"
I've stayed in San Diego a lot and I've had all positive experiences in the hotels I have stayed (the majority of the time, paying around the same for what I paid to stay here); this was my first negative experience. My family and I (6 total) stayed here 1 night (in 2 rooms); flew to another state from the airport, returned and stayed 3 more nights […] (in 2 rooms). After the first night, I would have canceled the 3 remaining nights, but they were non-refundable. I would describe the rooms as very dingy; all in need of a lot of TLC (paint; wallpaper, floors, etc.). We had a broken armoire door (to the fridge) in one room and a broken a/c unit in the same. The worst part was the floors; cleaned but not clean in the bathroom and very uncomfortable in the rest of the room. I had my family walk around in flip-flops the entire time because our feet felt and looked dirty after walking on the carpet (and it seemed it wasn't vacuumed when our room had been cleaned during the day). New laundering facilities are probably also in order as brand new towels which we had to have delivered to our room were not thoroughly clean. I wasn't expecting a lot in staying here, but I was expecting clean and comfortable, which I did not experience. "I was hoping for better"
I knew it was rated as a two star when I booked the room, but hoped & figured it would be better. Being a plumbing / general contractor prior to currently being a maintenance engineer at my local hospital, I can understand some things and let them slide. However, first thing when we walked in and checked the room, we found the shower curtain rod was […] hanging from the wall and had to be fixed (maintenance call #1), the next morning we found that the tub / shower wouldn't drain (maintenance call #2). The AC unit was in an interior wall over one of the beds and dripped on the bed, I noticed the filter was hanging out and when I slid it back into place it blew dust and debris all over the bed (obviously never cleaned). The room was a non smoking room but you could tell by the odor and colors that it had been a smoking room. The toilet would hardly flush (being a plumber, and tired of calling for maintenance I took it upon myself and fixed the flush valve). The hotel is on two lots, the pool and breakfast kitchen were across the street from us (which was fine) The pool was dirty, hair and scum build up (I don't think their skimmers or filters were working to well or not maintained). "Great Staff, but run down facilities"
The pictures online looked great. Upon arrival however, it was a completely different story. The floor surface sealer they had used throughout the complex was worn down and showing through, bubbling, and cracking to expose the underlying colors. The buttons in the elevator looked like someone had taken a lighter to them and burnt them so you couldn't […] see what the numbers were. The room was clean, but it was very muggy in the room for some reason. There was a deck, but no chairs or table to sit outside. The decor was dated back to the mid 70's with that mustard yellow color, and a table that reminds me of my grandmother's house back when she was alive. The mattress was bowed, and with my tendency to hang my knee over the side of the bed, the corner of the mattress was sharp and I had to put a pillow under my knee. The pillows were lumpy and I could feel all the springs when I laid on the mattress. It was like sleeping on a hide-a-bed mattress. The cabinet door was falling off of the cabinet that hid the fridge. That being said, there was a microwave and a fridge. It met all of the necessities. It was clean, the staff was very helpful and considerate. A maintenance person kindly escorted me to my room, and the lady making breakfast made me some extra pancakes (along with other people) with a smile as we reached the 10:00 threshold.
