Clean and pleasant hotel. Helpful staff. Quiet. Bathroom and the rest immaculate. Deluxe queen room too small for more than 1 person. Only two small drawers for storage and little floor space. Coffee maker did not heat adequately. Mattress sagged on one side.

Great location, convenient to everything. The staff are unbelievably friendly. Everyone was genuinely interested in our comfort and well being. Great location for exploring Portland. Walkable to Pearl district and waterfront walking paths. Rooms are small, but very nice and beds are very comfortable, nice linens. Would definitely stay there again. Good restaurants abound in Portland, but it is worth noting that the Italian restaurant Pazzo on the corner of the block is excellent.

Good hotel, in a good location. One of the few hotels with cabs nearby, the rooms are small but expected in an older building. My stay at the Hotel Lucia was truly a pleasurable experience. From the lobby to the room, the hotel lives up the all the glowing reviews. The staff was beyond courteous. The room was immaculate, clean, very hip and trendy with the touch of a 5 Star hotel. Located within walking distance of all major places of interest, Hotel Lucia is THE place.

The Hotel Lucia is a boutique hotel. That is most important to keep in mind. It is hipster cool, not luxury. The rooms are small, clean enough, not overly warm or cozy. The hotel sits on a busy street and it is loud. There are small accents to help with this (ear plugs are provided, there's a "pillow menu" to assist with comfort, etc). But overall, […] this is a 3 star hotel at best. Our TV got terrible reception, the wi-fi was really slow if it was working at all, etc. To get the hotel elevator to work, you need to put your room key in, which makes things difficult in a very small elevator crowded with other guests as the card need to be swiped for EACH floor (you can imagine the frustration when there's multiple floors needed). As well, the restaurant attached to the hotel, Imperial, was truly the worst dining experience we've ever had. Service was terrible. They were out of what my 5 year old ordered but didn't tell us until 20 minutes after we ordered and then burnt the new item she ordered and forget to bring my husband part of his breakfast. After asking twice, it still never came, but they still charged us. In the end we had to walk up to the bar just to pay our check as the servers were never around. This is a great hotel for young people or travelers who don't need the luxuries and comforts of a 4-5 star hotel. Just be sure to AVOID Imperial at all costs. Read more

My and my significant other loved the design, cleanliness and comfort of the Hotel. The super friendly staff was also very helpful when we had questions on how to get to certain areas, sites to checkout while in Portland, and local rules that we failed to research. Excellent staff and restaurant. Rooms are tiny for the price (e.g. we had a deluxe queen which had a bed, 1 small night stand small desk and chair, mini bar with TV on top, adequate closet and tiny bathroom - thought there would have been more for a deluxe room).

This hotel is prefect for a first time Portland visitor; centrally located, fantastic restaurant attached, clean and comfortable. Everyone was helpful and friendly. They accommodated our early check in and locked our bags up while we did more sight seeing after check out.

Fabulous location and beautiful public spaces. Check out the hotel's iconic photography collection and have a coffee at the recently opened Portland Penny Dinner, another gem of an eatery to add to an already sparkling neighborhood. The hotel's restaurant, Imperial, is very sleek. Vitaly Paley is a star chef in Portland, and the Hotel Lucia's very lucky […] to have him and his team recently open both these culinary ventures under one roof. Though I dined only at the bar, the soup was delicious and the burger well worth the calories. The room I stayed in was, however, quite dusty (even on the night stands, but good grief, don't open the drawers!), and the temperature was hard to control. Thank God there was a window that actually opened so I could air out the stuffiness. The staff is very welcoming and helpful, especially with special requests. One colleague of mine, who's in his 60s, remarked that he felt like the oldest person in the hotel. Clientele did, indeed, seem on the hipster side of the age gauge. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you have to travel to downtown Portland. Read more

The room was small but beautifully outfitted, very clean, with nice Aveda amenities. The thermostat actually worked to control room temperature. Ear plugs were provided in case the urban experience was too distracting, but not needed as our room on the 8th floor was unexpectedly quiet.

If staying for 1-2 days, thats ok, but I was holed up for 6 nights in a room that was barely big enough for the king-sized bed. While aesthetically a very nice hotel, the operation of the elevators (requiring a key card) was very hit/miss and half the time the elevator would close and get called to someone above who needed to come down before we could get our key to actually work which had us riding up and down the elevators unnecessarily. We live in Portland and like to try a new hotel each year just for an easy night away. The staff was very nice and the lobby was great. Being a photographer, I appreciated the photography theme. The location is great, which probably allows them to justify the pricing on their smallest rooms, but we have found better prices for larger rooms in the same general area downtown. Again, had the price been more reflective of the miniscule size of the room (and tiny bathroom) we'd have been thrilled, but as is, I'd say we will not be back. Read more
