While aesthetically a very nice hotel, the operation of the elevators (requiring a key card) was very hit/miss and half the time the elevator would close and get called to someone above who needed to come down before we could get our key to actually work which had us riding up and down the elevators unnecessarily. The room was okay, but it was very […] small, and for the price, we felt it was a poor deal. We'd have had no problem with the room had we not had to pay what we did. We live in Portland and like to try a new hotel each year just for an easy night away. The staff was very nice and the lobby was great. Being a photographer, I appreciated the photography theme. The location is great, which probably allows them to justify the pricing on their smallest rooms, but we have found better prices for larger rooms in the same general area downtown. Again, had the price been more reflective of the miniscule size of the room (and tiny bathroom) we'd have been thrilled, but as is, I'd say we will not be back. Read more

Great location, nice rooms with a good-size bathroom (unusual in a city). My only quibble is that the front desk staff--though extremely nice--didn't have a concierge mindset. Was hoping they'd be more in the know and have more connections to places. But I would return again.

Portland's such a transient area that you really can't bypass street people but the location was great, considering, and the bed was sooooooo comfortable. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, too!

Great location to everything downtown. Good quality hotel and comfy rooms. Watch out if you valet - WAY too pricey. It was about (if I remember correctly) $35 to park overnight there. Directly across the street it was half that, if not less. When we left, it was in their computer that we valet parked w/them when we didn't. We explained and they took […] the charges off. Outside of that instance, it was a fantastic stay with great restaurants around. We found the hotel lobby and common spaces beautifully designed with good art, the room very attractively appointed, very clean and the staff were excellent in every way; friendly, accommodating and responsive. We were initially offered a room by the ice machine and when I mentioned I was sensitive to noise and would prefer a different location, was […] offered two others with the thought that an interior room might be quieter. Sadly, the interior rooms face an inner shaft filled with large fans and other building equipment which I found rather loud all night long. We stayed one night at this excellent hotel in Portland, OR. It's in an excellent location downtown and the room, while small, was great. The bed was softer than most hotels that we're used to, which could be a plus for some travelers. The blinds allowed a bit too much early morning sun in compared to other hotels as well. Very clean, great location. But the staff is very "cold" and not very helpful. This hotel is going for the "boutique," hip vibe and if you are into that, you will love it. I do not recommend staying here if you have a family. I also found it ridiculous that they charge $10/day for wi-fi.

Basically, my experience was very good at Hotel Lucia. The staff are quite friendly and professional, from the doormen to the front desk staff. The bathroom was tiny, but clean, attractive, and worked well enough for me. I have never such poor service in the resturant/bar. The waitress/bartender was totally overwhelmed and forgot to serve people with food and drinks standing for awhile to be served. Drinks were water consequently, all ice. She was busy visiting with people rather than serving.

Expedia had the worst rooms available. Tiny. Noisy, overlooking a courtyard with construction going on. They were full the first night, but the front desk and everyone was helpful, so I moved to another room. The hotel is great, a great location.

The Lobby is ver nice, but the rooms were renovated from a dated hotel , they really did not do a full renovation and just pained over the old bumpy walls with gloss paint. The tub is very old. Also the hotel was redone in a modern decor for 2002, but does not look fresh in 2012. Also the restaurant was shut down! Also the rooms are extremely small, […] mine was about 150 square feet and that was an upgrade from my original smaller room??? Most of the rooms view inward and have low light, I was looking at a very ugly roof machines. The worst part was the front desk guy on the day I checked out Monday, June 25th. He refused to give me even 30 minutes extra to pack up, I have a broken arm!! He made me check out at 12:00, when I was not able to check in until 4PM. When I checked in, I came at 2PM and they had not started cleaning many of the rooms.At 3:30 when I came back many rooms were still uncleaned, so why can I not check out late if you don't even begin to clean the rooms until after 3pm? This guy at the front desk is just a jerk! I wont ever come back because you are inconsiderate. When I checked out I asked them to deliver my bags to the hotel next door literally (Vintage Plaza) they refused, so my new hotel (much nicer) picked up my bags from the Lucia. Read more

This was our second stay at the Hotel Lucia, and we've enjoyed it immensely both times. The front desk staff and doormen couldn't be nicer or more helpful. The rooms are on the small side, but immaculately clean and very well laid out. The mattresses are terrific, and we always like the Aveda brand toiletries that the hotel provides.

We enjoyed our stay here. My only complaints are the expensive valet parking ($35 a night) and the very, very tiny bathroom. Fixtures in the bathroom are rather impractical. Otherwise, the service was excellent, the bed was very comfortable, and the location was excellent for visiting downtown or the Pearl.

The hotel and its staff was pretty amazing. The rooms are pretty small (especially the bathroom), but I was only there for 2 nights so I didn't really mind. I was also out most of the time, so I didn't feel it as much. It is still a beautiful hotel, in an incredible location, and with very helpful staff. I would stay there again.

Checked in late on Thursday. Initial room was quite small. Me being slightly claustrophobic, we requested a larger room and they promptly obliged. Loved the bed and bedding, closeness to most anything downtown and very impressed with friendliness and helpfulness of everyone we encountered. Would highly recommned for a downtown Portland experience.

Hotel Lucia is conveniently located right in the heart of downtown Portland -- blocks from Powell's, blocks from Pioneer Square, and blocks from the art museum / PSU campus. It is a true boutique hotel, and the decor is very nice (but not ostentatious.) Staff were wonderful, always pleasant and always helpful. There was a very large walk-in closet in my single room and a very generous (and comfortable) queen bed.
