The Metropole, was once a stately hotel with dignitaries and celebrities staying there in the years past. While still a very nice little hotel and not bad for the price, personally I would call it more 3 stars than 4. Delicious breakfast. Comfortable beds. Blair conditioning & the days were muggy, sowewere uncomfortable. This wash elped a little when we borrowed a fan. Very convenient to old toown and to bus and rail stations. Rooms on front side very noisy due to tram tracks. Elevator was out of order. Quality breakfast buffet.

If I go back to Riga, I will stay here again, 100%. The staff are very nice, the restaurant (though it doesnt look like much) was great. The room was small, but clean. The only downside is no elevator, but hey, it's an old hotel and its only like 5 stories, so man up.

Old building became a hotel. 2 stars max. Bathroom is much to be desired. Breakfast was very good. Staff is extreamly nice and coteous. TV in the room is old. Remote control has some traces of food in between the buttons. Bed was shaky and squicky. What can you expect for the price they charge?

about 1oo yards from bus terminal and train station and near the old part of town. fan instead of air conditioning worked out because it rained that night and the storm lowered the air temperature. they wanted to charge $5 to watch tv. given the price of the hotel, that was inappropriate.

We booked an economy room with double bed. Room was beautiful, with high ceiling and large window. Staff very friendly and breakfast was good. Free wifi, nice reception area and great location at the edge of the old town. Highly recommended.

Having stayed here previosuly I was a little disappointed on this visit. It seems half the hotel is not used any more and overall the whole feeling of the place is dated.....it hasn't moved with the times. The location is great for the old town and it is a good price but I will probably stay elsewhere next time. There is no air conditioning and if […] you have a room on the front of the hotel the road outside is very noisy with trams at all hours - not too bad with windows closed but enough to wake even me with them open! Metropole Hotel is located on the edge of the Old Town but directly across from the bus stop, Bus 22 from the airport. - very handy if travelling with any luggage. All sites, churches, museums and squares only a 10 minute walk if that away. Comfortable old style hotel, great breakfast served in the lobby - however you do have to pay extra to have […] TV in your room!! Not a problem for us as we were out all day and into the night sampling Riga's excellent night life. Trams do pass at night so if you have a front facing room and the windows are open, noise could be a problem - again not a problem for us. 4 stars should mean "1st class". But sadly there's nothing 1st class in the hotel Metropole in Riga. There's wasn't no ventilation or air conditioning whatsoever during our stay, thus it was intolerably warm in the room, and we didn't sleep well at all. In order to fight the burning warmness we opened the window and there was a horrible sound (probably […] other building's ventilation fan) for the entire night. Kraftig minus pga manglende heis. Vi hadde rom i 5 etasje og uten heis!! Dette holder ikke til et 4 stjerners hotell. Matsalen var også veldig liten. Men maten var god og rikelig.

Hadde rom ut mot gata og utrolig mye støy fra trikketrafikk fra kl 0500 om morgenen til etter middnatt. Heller ikke heis på hotellet. Vil aldri mer bruke dette hotellet. Også for liten kapasitet i frokostsal,måtte alltid vente på ledig bord eller ta i bruk lobby.

Hotellet har en flott beliggenhet i forhold til det meste. Bra service, bra rom, meget bra frokost. Eneste bakdel var at det ikke var heis der, men det kunne se ut som de drev å bygde en.

Hotellet lå veldig sentralt til, både til gamlebyen, shopping, tog, buss og trikk. Hotellet var gammelt, men rent og pent. Ingen heis trekker litt ned. Frokosten var heller dårlig, tørt brød og ingen kald drikke. Vi var der en uke, og fikk ikke ferskt brød en dag. Betjeningen var hjelpsom når vi spurte om noe, men ellers var det lite smil og hilsner […] og få. De reklamerer med restaurant, men det var ingen info om dette på hotellet eller fra betjeningen. Excellent, just on the north-eastern edge of the old town, close to shopping malls and the central station. Distance to the center of old town is really short, don't let the scale of the maps fool you. The bedroom was big, spacious and bright, with big windows. We got a room facing the courtyard, so it was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable, […] king size, but a bit soft. A big issue were the beefy pillows, that also were dense, so it might work if you have shoulders like a swimmer, but totally useless for lying on your back. We asked for thinner pillows, but got two more of the same. Expect pain in the neck and headache, absolute tip to bring your own pillow if you can. Furniture of the older kind, but that's no issue I think. The bathroom also had a big window, quite worn utilities, but just as the room, clean. Breakfast: Quite standard for this class. 4 kinds of bread, omelet and boiled egg, sausage and bacon, ham, some fish for the Swedes, 4-5 kinds of muesli with milk, yoghurt or kefir. 3 kinds of juices, coffee, tea. One thing I really liked, they serve breakfast between 7:30 and 10:30, but at 10:30 there still was lots of food, so they do fill up even at the end of service. Staff: Friendly and helpful, spoke good english. Parking: I can recommend a Europark garage in the north-western corner of the old town, 10 mins walk. 48hrs ticket available and you can come and go as you wish. Value for money: Very good, will definitely book here again. Read more

Frühstück gut, unser Doppelzimmer war ein Einzelzimmer mit breitem Bett und immerhin 2 Decken. Im Bad nackte Rohre an der Wand. Direkt vor dem Fenster die Straßenbahn und eine Weiche a.Ä, die ganze Nacht zu hören. Das ist zu wenig für angeblich vier Sterne.
