Best Western Le Patio Saint Antoine - Paris

This was my second stay at this hotel in the past few months. I would return with pleasure. I like the perfect cleanliness, the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, the pretty setting and quiet atmosphere of this hotel. The rooms are all overlooking two interior courtyards which makes staying there a quiet visit. The only negative items were: 1. The […] bad sewer smell in the bathroom. I am not sure they can do anything about this. It is a problem in most Parisian hotels. 2. The fact that the tub should have some anti-slip device in the bottom (especially for elderly guests). Overall, this hotel looks as if it has been recently renovated. Is near the main subway sub of Nation, and has a couple of bus lines nearby. Nearby is the commercial atmosphere of Rue du Faubourg St Antoine and not far from Bastille, with great restaurants. Just next door is a magnificent French and eclectic restaurant (La Dame Brune) and across the street an "authentic" Italian restaurant (Le Farniente) that was open 3 months ago and is quite amazing. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only downsides were the typically small bed especially for two, breakfast prices unreasonable but rooms well equipped for eating in and plenty of excellent food shops nearby, very basic toiletries provided, and if you want a washcloth bring your own. The upsides include friendly helpful service, a convenient location […] - the no. 86 bus takes you directly to the St. Michel area and RER A station 3 blocks away, all is clean and well maintained, and very reasonable prices. The location of the hotel was in a run-down neighborhood. The room, though clean, well kept and modern lacked air conditioning so was not comfortable with a noisy swamp cooler. The dedication of one of the front desk clerks was marginal and they lost the printout of our airline boarding passes. My first shower when I arrived ended up icy cold. There was not enough hot water in the water heater for one single shower. The staff was very responsive and offer to move me to another room. I declined, being too tired after a long day of travel and my long walk to reach Place des Vosges and its neighborhood... But I appreciated the offer and the responsiveness of the staff. I had to leave very early so I opted for the hotel breakfast. It would have been acceptable if not so pricey... 18€ was just ridiculously expensive for dried eggs, pastry and coffee. Hotel was clean and well cared for. The location was good. It was about a 5-10min walk from the Nation Metro. The neighborhood was ok. I didn't feel comfortable walking after dark alone. The shower had no hand rails and that was a concern. We were afraid of slipping with nothing to grab onto. Room was not well-lighted.

First the positive. The wireless Internet was free and speed and up-time was the best I've experienced in Europe for wireless. The staff were very nice and very helpful. The location was convenient to the Nation Metro and RER station, by which you could travel to most parts of the city fairly easily. There were a few decent thought unremarkable restaurants […] and cafes within easy walking distance. The queen-size bed (really two small twins pushed together) was quite comfortable. The square at the center of the buildings was rather charming. Now the negative. The hotel consists of a series of buildings surrounding the square, with the shorter ones not providing an elevator/lift. There was no central air - climate control was provided by portal units installed in most of the rooms. Problem is, they doubled as dehumidifiers! If you had the setting on high, the tiny 'tank' would fill in 5 hours, shutting off the unit. The front desk didn't mention anything about needed to empty the tank, let alone how to do it. Although the hotel has a no-smoking policy, they don't seem to enforce it. It was very disappointing walking onto our floor and being met by a cloud of tobacco smoke. There was mold in the bathroom, which was functional at best. Because the hotel is essentially cobbled together, it features a number of rooms with very different sizes and configurations. Ours was quite small, but then, who spends much time in their hotel in Paris? All in all, not the worst place that I've stayed in my global travels, but no where near the best, and at the price point, it was disappointing overall. Read more

Excellent Family Hotel (Parents + two kids in a suite!)in a nice neighborhood of Paris. 5 min walk from "Nation" Metro station - Outstanding access to all of Paris! Great choice for our family of 4: parents and 2 teens. We had junior sweet room with queen bed and a comfortable twin/ single murphy bed for our boys. Less than five minute walk to metro line 1 that runs past most Paris museums. Secure, off street parking for 25 Euros/day and we had access to the car. Only 7 parking spots.... We liked the hotel, it has a funky layout that surrounds a central courtyard. A bonus for us as parents of young children (4 and 1). The patio allowed us to "get away" and share a bottle of wine and be able to hear the kids if the woke up. Some reviews comment on the distance from the attractions. As a family of 5 we were so pleased we chose this hotel. We loved its location (not central, but Bastille walkable in 15 mins, Notre Dame in about 40 mins - much quicker by Metro, obviously, in a less touristy area which we prefer). Ideal for storing bottled water for days out, plus for preparing breakfast (we recommend getting fresh croissants and pein chocolat from the nearby boulangerie each morning - cheaper than going for the hotel breakfast). I felt that the lack of guest parking spaces was a disappointment, since we had driven to Paris. The area of Paris that it is located in is not the greatest. As we were unloading in front of the hotel our car antenna was stolen. At check in and check out the staff was friendly and helped us with our bags. The layout of the hotel is very unusual. There are elevators to access upper floors but there are steps leading out to the other buildings and going into other buildings. The rooms were tiny - slightly claustrophobic. We opted not to have the hotel breakfast, but it was fine because it was overpriced and there are plenty of shops up and down the street that have breakfast type foods available for a fraction of the cost of the hotel breakfast. The hotel was clean and the room was clean. We had put a do not disturb sign on the door but when we returned from our sightseeing we discovered housekeeping had been in. This was a great hotel. We were in a junior suite - for the four of us and when we arrived very late at night, the hotel staff were very welcoming. We had bunk beds for the children but there was no ladder to enable us to get to the top bunk. We called reception and they came up, looked for a ladder and when there was not one to be found, went off to […] get one from another room (who had a ladder but were not in need of it) immediately. The staff were very helpful with regards to information on travelling by metro, distances to the airport and when we left, they organised a taxi for us with no trouble. The front desk offered additional blankets/pillows free of charge upon request so the fact it only had two pillows was not a problem. The only thing I was less than happy with is the bed. They were very firm. I generally like a fluffy-er mattress. I don't have complaints but it would be nice to have beds that were a bit softer. If you are looking to stay in Paris relatively cheaply, this place is great. In addition, we traveled with a 7-month old baby and this hotel was perfect for that. They provided what seemed like a brand new pack-and-play with 'blacked-out' sides so that was perfect to make sure the baby wasn't disturbed while we kept the light on in the evenings. The […] room had a small kitchenette with a burner, kettle, microwave, sink, small fridge and box freezer and some pots, pans, plates, cutlery, etc. There is also a small table with two chairs where we could feed the baby - all perfect for heating/cleaning bottles, food prep/storage etc. The tub was nice and clean for bathing the baby but a little more slippery than we're used to. Things to know about the hotel include the noise factor. We had a white noise machine on for the baby but we could still hear quite a bit of noise from the elevator nearby, the courtyard and any other noise near our room. It was a volume level we're not used to in a Canadian hotel but might be normal in Europe - not sure. Also, although the room was quite nice - small but nice - our room could have used a bit more attention to cleaning. I wouldn't have noticed that it could use a vacuum if the baby wasn't crawling all over the floor, some hairs in the bathroom that weren't ours (that didn't disappear over our 5-day stay). Everything else seemed quite clean though. Important note: If you have a baby in Paris, you can skip the lines at museums!! Read more

We stayed in the Best western near the Louvre that was a 3 star going on 4 was fabulous . The Le Patio Sainte Antonine was a 3 but really more like a two. Lobby was old and the courtyard where are room was located is just a reverb chamber for anyone sitting and talking brings the noise amplified to your room. Smell of the room was hint of cigarette […] and old carpet because people can smoke in the courtyard comes into the room. Overall I slept very little the spiral staircase that access the room allows you to carry only one bag at a time so of course anyone checking in and out we had to listen to them stumble with their bags. We had a short, enjoyable stay and would recommend it. The staff were very nice and the hotel seemed like good value. The room had a connecting door and whilst that would have been great if we had brought the kids, it was very easy to hear our neighbours.
