"Nickle and Diming hotel"
I was overall disappointed by my stay. I don't care of the daily extra charge. Why is that not included in the hotel price? The wifi connection the first day didn't work, but it worked the second day. Also, they were understaffed so each morning I had to wait in a long line in the coffee shop as there was just one person taking the order, making the […] drink, processing the payment AND answering phones. On the positive side, the location and pool were great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Tried to check in early. Told room was not ready but they would call if available before 3pm. No call. At 2 pm they were checking people in. Waited again. Told we had already checked in and adked if we wanted a duplicate key. Finally got a room that they clearly don't normally rent on bottom floor with partial parking lot view. Bed mattress needs to […] be replaced. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"amazing service and facilities"
We could have just stayed at the hotel and had a great time. Do buy a package that includes the breakfast buffet. It's worth it, and is so convenient. Save a day just to hang out at the pools, too. We went whale watching and to a luau, as well as spending time in historic Kialua- Kona. Such a fun trip!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Nice Stay"
We spent three nights at this property at the tail-end of a weeklong visit to the Big Island. If we had it to do over, we would have stayed here the entire week. This resort, albeit a bit far from town, is simply a wonderful place to stay. The property is very clean, well maintained, located on a beautiful beach, and right across the street from two […] very nice shopping centers. The snorkeling up on this part of the island is not nearly as nice as the snorkeling down to the south, but a couple of quick day trips could have easily remedied this minor shortfall. I would strongly recommend this resort to anyone visiting the Big Island. During our stay, I made two quick calls to the front desk. The friendliness and helpfulness of the front desk staff was second to none. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Part of Paradise"
Beautiful facility. Pleasant staff. Gorgeous location. Liked that parking was included in resort fee. Used Welcome Rewards redemption. May be reason why were given a handicapped room on a first floor rather than a higher room with a preferred view? Seems to be a common issue when booking a discounted room. Otherwise enjoyed our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"near Island Gourmet Market (ABC Store)"
Shops: 2 blocks from Queen's Market shops (Island Gourmet Market - very convenient for food - spam musubi!/Japanese food/deli, sundries, souvenirs; Starbucks, Food Court, Macaroni Grill). Across the street from the more expensive King's Market shops (Roy's, Three Fat Pigs, Merriman's Mediterranean Cafe, very small Macy's, Louis Vuitton, Crazy Shirts). […] Check-in and Check-out: understaffed front desk, took 20 minutes of waiting to check-in, 10 minutes to check-out. Beds: not comfortable(Hilo Hawaiian Hotel was much better). Bathroom: needed to summon the evening maintenance man to unclog our bathtub sink. View: 4th floor - decent limited ocean view but right above the roof of the restaurant/bar/veranda, so lots of noise heard. Resort fee: $25/day, includes parking. Beach: nice; didn't rent anything though - SUP, kayaks, sorkels, etc. Pools: 1 kiddie, 1 adult, 1 short slide. Luau: didn' t attend, $97/adult. Housekeeping: Good, but I found a small metal spring(from a pen? or other machine? ) on the carpet next to my bed after the first day's service; glad I didn't sustain an injury from it. Electrical outlets: adequate number on the walls; the 3-outlet mount on the front of the desk didn't work though, the outlet openings were too loose for good contact. Location: convenient - 25 mins. north of Kona airport, 35 minutes north of Kona, 45 mins. southwest of north Kohala, 2 hours from Hilo. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice and quiet, relaxing"
Really enjoyed it. The room was quite comfortable. Really liked the fact I could see the beach from the patio and it was just a short walk away. Very peaceful and relaxing.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful setting and great service -- we were happy! But the place needs little tweaks to make it perfect: a hook on the bathroom door, wifi that works, and the coffee bar needs to serve decent coffee! These are small things, however. Overall, it was quite lovely.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pleasant hotel, with large pool area."
Stayed two nights to see friends. Rented a car, drove to Waikoloa inland, to Waimea, shopped at Farmer's Market, lunch at Merriman's, saw Puukohola Heiau. Next day went to Keaau and then to Kimura's Lahala Shop at Holualoa, drove through Kailua-Kona, but it was so busy and crowded I did not stop.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and hotel facility"
Loved the location of the hotel away from the congestion and right on the beach. The multiple pools, hot tubs and water slide were great. The common facilities were great. There were 2 issues. First, even $40/night motels have in room internet. Having to pay for in room internet is ridiculous. Wasting time in the lobby for internet service is 20 years […] behind the times. Second, my wife likes hot baths. The bathtub in the room would not give hot, hot water. The sink water you could not keep you hand in. Nice and hot. The bath tub was at best warm. We complained to the desk and they said they would check it. When we got back in the evening. the water was no different and no one knew anything about it. They sent another maintenance guy but he did nothing. They never offered to give us another room or followed up to see if we were satisfied. Other than that the room was great. However when one of you hot buttons is not met, it can taint the whole experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

everyday we had a beautiful perfect photo of the sun sets from our room, quiet not crowded, wonderful morning walks along the coast, food was very expensive and wednesday at night activity also was very very expensive. to do any of the day trips you need a ton of money and make sure the volcano is active before you book your trip to see it !! over all […] our experience was nice and found places to eat that were not an arm and a leg to pay for meals. we will never forget the sunsets, adventures, and nature walks !! the fruit is the absolute best, like the ice cream bananas, we will never eat another banana again because we were spoiled with mother natures best grown fruit. the pinapple, guava, mango, passion fruits, all were just a treat to live off the land !! Very happy, had a great time! Only unhappy had requested 2 bed rooms, received 1 room with 2 reg. sized beds for 4 people. Very friendly staff. Rooms were recently renovated I was told. Hotel is just the right size, not too big or too small. The only problem I encountered was that I was charged twice on my credit card, but, I will get it corrected.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beautiful A Bay is a 150 yard walk. Beach toys for rent in beach shack. Palm trees, calm warm water with coral, rocks and lots to see when snorkeling. There is about a mile of beach to explore to the south with a sandy inlet by an abandoned coconut grove. Walk to the Hilton 3/4 mi north along the ocean. Hotel has one restaurant but the food is amazing! […] Gourmet. Not cheap but watch for specials and try the braised short ribs when they are half priced currently on Mondays and Thursdays. Bar staff are fun, have been there for years as have many hotel staff. This hotel gets well-mannered guests, hallways are quiet, pool is low keyed. Not many children, they tend to stay at the Hilton down the street. Thankfully. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel for families"
Booked a trip to the Big Island for Thanksgiving and chose to stay at the Marriott. It's nicely situated with easy shore line access. The staff are bright and cheerful, and happy to help out with quarries. They are happy to share their personal experiences, especially on things to do and places to go on the Island (talk to an expedia local expert). […] The facilities are clean and well maintained, but not state of the art in terms of room fixtures and gym equipment. I'd recommend this resort for those traveling with kids and family. For couples who want a more intimate atmosphere I would recommend the Mauna Lani Spa and Resort just 10 min to the north. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Pleasant stay at Waikoloa Beach"
Overall this hotel is very well maintained and clean. The staff is courteous and efficient. Our only issue was the air conditioning in our room was kind on noisy. In less than five minutes after I notified the front desk, I had a couple of technicians fixing it. The $25/day optional resort activity charge pays for itself if you want internet access […] in your room and need to park a car. In addition, it includes various discount for hotel activities and access to the golf course. The pool/beach towel control established by the hotel is inconsistent and a little weird some times. You need to sign a receipt, and depending on the person in charge, you may also get a bracelet to take the towels to the beach. Nothing wrong, just weird. We've never seen this system. The food and breakfast buffet are good, but nothing extraordinary. There are also several restaurants near the hotel. The hotel is conveniently located at walking distance of two shopping centers, in the nice Waikoloa Beach Drive, with fine shops and restaurants. We stayed in a low season week, so we don't know if things are the same when the hotel is full. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Pools and Beach!"
We stayed for a week over Thanksgiving and had a great trip. Our 7 yr old daughter loved the pools at the hotel and the beach and bay are beautiful. Snorkeling right in front of the hotel was fantastic and some of the best on the island in my opinion. We had a standard corner room which had great space but the couch was not comfortable at all so there […] was nowhere else to sit in the room other than the king bed. We eventually had a rollaway bed brought in for our daughter, which worked better than the pullout, but still didn't make the couch any more comfortable (either as a bed or a couch). The beds are called "reviving" beds but were waaaay too soft. After a few nights of bad sleep, we had the hotel flip the mattress, which helped significantly. On the plus side, there doesn't seem to be a room in the resort that doesn't offer a glimpse of the ocean. The staff was very accommodating and always helpful. Strangely, there seemed to be a lot of confusion about the drink specials during the week by the pool staff. Overall great service. Beware of the Expedia local "concierge." They are not affiliated with the hotel and push trip packages on everyone. If you have a rental car and don't mind driving in the dark, you are much better off with your own excursions or booking directly after doing some online research. "Beautiful Beach Resort"
The Resort was beautiful but pricey on food. Our room was nice and quiet. Bed and pillows were wonderful. Bathroom was dirty when we got to the Resort, so that was a downfall. Housekeeping did a good job except in the bathroom. They did not seem to clean the bathroom very well while we were staying there. "Relaxing hotel by the beach"
The hotel is a lovely one, starting from the friendly staff until the nice lobby and beach area. Our room was of good size, despite showing its old age. We're happy with the size of the bed, although it looked smaller like a queen-sized bed rather than the king-sized one as booked. The leather bed frame was white in color, but smeared with some permanent […] stains. The balcony was great, the airconditioned room was never too warm or cold for us. Unfortunately, the sink seemed stucked and the water took a long time before flowing away. The bathroom also seemed dark. But, overall, the room had a lot of lights, making it a pleasant one to be inside. The hotel pool and jacuzzi were great, there were plenty of one so it never felt too crowded, especially in the evening. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

My husband and I decided to visit Hawaii for the first time it was a last minute thing and since. it was a holiday week end thier was no available cars for rent anywere so we took a taxi to the resort. when getting thier we checked in but we were suppose toget a free upgrade since we were thier for our honeymoon but did not get it was upset about that […] because the receptionest had told me she would do something to compensate us for not having the upgrade nor the room we had reserved and it was unusual to find out that the spa actually had nothing to do with the hotel but overall the hotel is amazing the food is great the waiters are friendly and i also loved that the pools are 24 hours that was a plus. "Perfect place to quietly relax"
Traveled to HI with my 17-yr-old daughter on a school break. LOVED our quiet 5 days at the Waikoloa Marriott. Unlike other mega resorts on the island, this property seems calmer, quieter and more relaxed in an understated way but still very nice. We loved that instead of having to walk 10 minutes to get from our room to the pool like at other larger […] hotels, we could slip back and forth from the pool to our room in about a minute . "My family's favorite vacation spot in Hawaii"
I've lost count of how many times my family and I have stayed at the Marriott Waikoloa resort, but we keep coming back and are never disappointed. We just love "A"-bay, the shops nearby, and the grounds at the resort are beautiful. My family and I average three trips a year to Hawaii, and we've stayed in condos, big fancy resorts in Wailea on Maui, […] and we keep coming back to the Marriott Waikoloa resort because of the great weather, excellent lodging, and very good value compared to all these other places we've stayed. I'll probably be back there in a few months for my kids' winter break. We just love Hawaii and especially Waikoloa. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Location, location, location"
Great beach and lots of walkable-distance shopping (to especially include food). Pool area is good but not great; it's a little short on shade (and the Hawaii sun can be intense) and a little crowded at times. "Excellent value and experience!"
My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Waikaloa for our anniversary. It was our first time on the Big Island, and the staff could not have been better! We did research before making our reservation, and were prepared for some of the complaints made by others. However, in the week we stayed in early November, we found none of the complaints we had read […] about. From the moment we pulled on to the property, we were greeted with true "aloha". From the people behind the counter to management to the people keeping the grounds clean, everyone had a smile and a friendly attitude. The room had a partial mountain and ocean view. The lady behind the counter made sure we would be happy with the room before making the arrangements. There are other places within walking distance for dinner. You can also walk to a local grocery store and pick up things to make for meals. However, there is a fine restaurant on property. It offers a full buffet breakfast every day. There are also dinners at the same restaurant, although it can get expensive. But remember, you are on Hawaii, where almost everything is expensive! They have a luau twice a week (we didn't attend) on property. We could hear the music, and it sounded like everyone was having a great time. They do have a rental car location on site, but you are probably better off renting a car at the airport, and driving the 19 miles to the resort. Overall, a wonderful experience which I would gladly recommend! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very comfortable stay. Bed was just like home."
This is a really nice resort with a perfect location. We arrived a little early and our room was not ready. After 2 hours it was still not ready so the front desk assigned us a different room, a slight upgrade to what we had booked. The room was overlooking the pool area and beach. If you are looking for absolute quiet, this is not the side, but the […] pool was only really busy on the weekend. Closing the sliding door shut out most of the noise and it was not bothersome. The luau area is also near by and we could hear the show. That was very enjoyable. The show ends around 8:30 p.m. so, it really doesn't interrupt sleep, or early bed time. Everything about this room was so homey and comfortable. The king size mattress was similar to ours at home, so we were able to relax and sleep through the night. Dining at the resort can be expensive, but there are other options in the area. The Waikoloa resort area is perfect for anyone who wants to relax or spend a lot of time recreating. I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 mile run every morning around the main road and back to the Marriott. Then finding our spot on the beach or getting ready for the days adventures. The shopping at both the Kings Shops (if you can afford Tiffany and Louis Vuitton) and the Queens Marketplace offer something for everyone including affordable dining and those absolutely necessary souvenirs. We highly recommend the Marriott and the resort. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
