This property was a no frills pleasant property with an awesome location for Kenmore Square, BU and Fenway. Each of these locations are just outside your door. The Buckminster is an older hotel. There is one small elevator but a wide staircase if you are on the lower floors. It is right around the corner from Fenway Park so if you are attending a game this is a great location. We were given a "complimentary" upgrade to a King suite, which meant we had a sitting room with fridge and microwave along with our […] king sized bedroom ( and a view of Fenway Park!).The bathroom was also a good size. We found it to be very comfortable for our short stay, clean and well cared for just older in style.Front desk staff was kind and there was a continental breakfast included but we did not partake. I was there for a fund raising run and would stay there again if I participate in the future. The hotel does offer parking for a fee and there are many good restaurants up Commonwealth Ave as well as the T stop right there, so you can't beat this place for convenience to downtown Boston. The Buckminster is less then one block from Fenway Park and one block from the subway. The building is old, but the room was very clean. During mid-day it took 10 minutes for the hot water to get to the room. The hot water came quicker in the morning. Great price and great location!

Even though the hotel is old, the rooms have been renovated. it is also overpriced for what you get. The convenience of being across the street from Boston University trumps all the complaints with the exception of what happened to us during the stay. We were there from NJ on Thursday, April 18th, 2013, the day of the Boston lockdown. We were asked […] by the hotel staff to check of or pay even though no one was allowed in or out of the city. Can't beat the location. Just a 2-minute walk from the Kenmore T subway stop. Hotel room was excellent (given the $130/night rate). There was a repetitive clicking sound in the room that was kind of annoying though.

Hotel Buckminster is a beautiful, character hotel that is close to everything. We enjoyed our stay there and would gladly stay their again. Our only complaint was that the room that we stayed in was a little small - but the cleanliness and overall feeling in the hotel more than made up for the slightly cramped quarters.

Garage was closing due to event, car would be blocked in 7am-6pm and was not notified before my stay.Parked on a side street and had to walk items back and forth from hotel to car. The freezer door on refrigerator was broken. There were two tv stands side by side that looked like they were picked from trash. No coffee maker in room and room was bland […] no decor to make it pop. Bathroom had no counter to put everyday bathroom items on. The room was located on corner could see Fenway Park and Commonwealth it was also very spacious. Hairdryer was handy and did serve breakfast but i did'nt eat so no comment. Went to a game at Fenway so the Buckminster was the perfect location. Also enjoyed a run along the Charles River in the morning. Lots of good restaurants to check out too. The hotel itself is very good, with great service, though the accommodations themselves are more than adequate but not top of the line.

If you get the std. queen expect a room with a bed and not much room for anything else. Larger rooms are significantly more expensive and are very simply decorated. The hotel is old fashioned but well taken care of. The staff is very friendly and the location is convenient to Fenway Park and Boston University.

The location is really good - across from Boston University, by Fenway Park, near Harvard / MIT. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. You {Hotel.com} need to clarify hotel info. I go through you not the hotel web site. No mention was made at my reservation site of a charge to park. Upon checkin the hotel wanted to charge me $30 for my car and 40 for my guest's car [who were in the 2nd room I had reserved] The manager would not even come speak with me but instead sent out a desk clerk […] with a very vague print-out of "their hotel website info". Exceptionally friendly staff. Perfect location for visiting BU, Emerson, Northeastern and Boston College. The hotel is adjacent to BU. The T is right across the street, making the other schools less than a 15 commute by T. Parking was available with in and out priveleges. We didn't bother taking the car out. The hotel is in a good position near Boston U and Fenway. Nice hotel, good service and clean. The subway is a block away. Subway cost $5.00 round for 2 rides and does take you from the airport. Problem is they have no shuttle, and the last subway leaves at 12:45 am s and starts up at 5:00 am. So if you take an early flight be prepared to pay $40 - $50 […] for a cab ride. Came in town for a concert. The staff was very helpful and friendly.Room was a nice surprise .we weren't aware our room had 2 separate rooms with the bathroom in a hallway .which was fine because it was the 2 of us. Extremely kind staff. Was upgraded to an efficiency suite with a kitchen. Clean room. Nice warm clean modern bathroom and the stove would have been practical if we were staying a while. Breakfast: no eggs or oatmeal, it was truly continental with fruit and cereal and danish, etc. Had to go to the next block, Eastern Standard twice for omelets because […] of the long days I was having at the conference. A good place to go if you're on a budget but want to be close to downtown. A flatscreen in the living room and an old style TV in the bedroom wardrobe. Free wi-fi. The hotel was comfortable and clean, but no frills. I stayed there while attending a conference at Hynes Convention Center, and it was conveniently located (15 minute walk or 1 stop on the T). If you're looking for something less expensive than the hotels directly around the Center, this is a good choice.

We booked this hotel for a cheap place to stay after the Bruins game. The location was perfect. Only a minute walk to the t station. We also booked the hotel for the price, at least $20 cheaper than anything else in the area. However, when we got there we had to pay an extra $30 for parking. While this is typical parking rate for the area, we were […] told before hand the the first car parks free. Therefore, the room turned out to be just as expensive as higher end hotels in the area. The room itself was the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. For us, this was fine since we didn't spend much time there, but something to keep in mind. The room was HOT and we couldn't get the heat to turn down so we had to open the window (in march) which let in a lot of noise and we had to get up in the middle of the night to open and close it as the temperature changed. The room and hotel was clean and the staff until midnight was very helpful and friendly. My biggest complaint was just the parking issue, which the hotel says is discounted, but when asking the people at the garage they caaeged the same as the hotel did. Read more

The location was convenient to Kenmore, by BU with lots of restaurant choices. The lobby was beautiful, with its historic decore. But the rooms...ugh! At check-in I asked not be by the stairs or elevator. the room was small, tight, dreary and near the stairs. I asked to be moved, my request was granted. This next room was bigger, but there were probably […] two outlets and an extension cord, which made it a challenge to plug in my laptop and charge my phone at the same time. While I like antique furniture, I dont like chairs that wobble when you sit in them or cabinets and desks that are tattered and worn. When I got up after my first night to take a shower to go to my uncle's funeral, turned on the shower, the water stopped coming out the shower head, back to the spout., and then all water STOPPED. After an extensive conversation with the front desk, a key to another room was brought to me, it was like the first room. So I used it to shower and get dressed, but asked the shower just be fixed as i was not staying in the new room. I finally decided to check out and go to another hotel. We have a son attending BU and a son attending NEU so we visit Boston frequently. We have stayed at many hotels in the Boston area and found this one to be the best location...right in the middle of the 2 campuses and convenient for the boys. Also it was not necessary to rent a car and pay the high parking expenses as we took the train to the hotel […] directly from the airport and back. Good rate, convenient locatoin to Fenway Park area and The House of Blues. Maybe too close to the House of Blues, given the partiers who stayed there following a concert. Also, the rooms were really really hot. We slept with the window wide open in March and were barely comfortable. Otherwise the room was fine, if tiny.
