Upon arrival the bell boys came running down the stairs to greet us and could not do enough for us. All the staff were very helpful and so, so friendly. We went away for a few days diving and when we came back, they remembered us and welcomed us back like old friends.A little tip: people providing a service will "Y" you as a greeting (putting their hands together like in prayer and bow their heads) - apparently it is clumbsy for the person receiving the service to return the gesture, but a polite nod of the head and a big smile go a long way. They are such a smiley nation! The hotel is absolutely beautiful; shining marble, gleaming surfaces, fresh flowers everywhere, ornate decoration and a pianist in reception in the evening. The rooms we had were both lovely and I particularly enjoyed the oversized, corner shower cubicle! My friend who teaches out there, who we met up with, told me later that it should have been 400 Baht (£8)maximum by taxi back to the airport, but unfortunately we'd already booked and paid for transfers at much more than that. Great stay, would definitely go back.

We enjoyed our stay at the Siam City Hotel. The facility itself and our room in particular far exceeded what you would expect for a similar price in a U.S. hotel in a major city. We found the pool and deck to be a pleasant oasis where we could recover from jetlag. The location is no doubt ideal for many travelers. Siam City is within two blocks of a Skytrain station, and only a short ride (or 15-minute walk) from important shopping centers. It's also convenient to Bangkok's business district. However, Siam City is far from Bangkok's main cultural sites, which are not directly accessible by Skytrain or the connected underground system. Taxis are ubiquitous relatively inexpensive in Bangkok (hotel staff will help you find a metered taxi), but depending on the time of day/week it may take hours to reach the main cultural sites due to Bangkok's severe congestion. More sophisticated travelers should consider taking the Skytrain and underground to the Hua Lumphong train station, and from there hailing a taxi or tuk-tuk to the cultural sites. Always insist that the taxi driver turn on his meter. Tuk-tuks are fast and cheap but newcomers to the city should probably avoid them. If you take one, ask a local what it should cost to get where you're going, and bargain with the driver (who will ask for two or three times the going rate). Assume that you will still pay about 20 percent more than a local would. ALWAYS insist that the driver go directly to your destination, and don't believe him if he tells you it's closed. If he tries to take you to some gem shop or tailor store, demand that he stop and let you out, then hail a metered cab.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I was expecting a business level hotel, and this was more luxiorous than I had expected for the cost of the room. Very wonderful, decor. they offer a collector's view of authentic, traditional ThAI pottery and ceramicware with great descriptions of the time period and part of the country from which it came. They had a wonderful spa and a BEAUTIFUL swimming pool area with a gazebo for outdoor, poolside massage. I would definitely come back.

Spiste også her på nyttårsaften, da var maten over all forventning.
