I only had one lasting negative memory, the snooty unsmiling reception staff, otherwise, the hotel was so lovely I didn't want to leave. I travel around the globe regularly staying in all kinds of 4/5 star hotels and this has to be one of the best (front desk staff attitude aside, bar one). I will definitely return.

Everything up to the usual Hyatt standards that we have to come to expect from many previous visits apart from a bad experience with Room Service at 1am. The Porter insisted that I paid in cash, despite the fact we had added our card details to the room for any further expenses. I said no we would like to pay by card but the Porter came back to our room three times and then even called the room number at 1:30am after I had fallen asleep. Credit where due, upon explanation the receptionist refunded the Room Service bill of £20ish but not the experience you expect from Hyatt.

It was OK, convenient, but just OK nothing more.the WiFi network is quite useless, doesn't connect properly anywhere, and we had three pads but none of them would connect. Any entertainment, even free view has to be paid for. If you need it here make sure your phone tethers other wise your dead. The reception is respectful but pretty impersonal. We've stayed here previously years ago but had forgotten what it was like. Would I stay here again, possibly, but not out of choice, but in Birmingham most hotels are a bit humdrum so little alternative really !!!

Very disappointed with the breakfast £35 for 2 adults had to wait 15 mins to be seated only to wait another 20 mins for the buffet which was empted as quick as the staff could fill it would have been better going to macdonalds

Excellent price using Expedia . In the heart of Birmingham. The staff one or two were not helpful. But I advised every one to book in advance and experience the ultimate city break. The swimming pool is a little bite deep for my child and he did not enjoy it that much.

Lovely hotel, service was great, spa was nice, rooms were comfortable. Only downside was that we were told by a member that the steam room can cut out and you have to pour water over it but this did not affect the quality of our stay. Good location for bars and restaurants, rundown building opposite which is a shame for the view

The Hyatt in Birmingham is a lovely hotel in our view - our favourite in Birmingham. Staff are first class as are the facilities. We always enjoy a relaxing, comfortable stay and never think twice about booking elsewhere. Is there anything negative ? Just one thing: Wifi is not free. This seems "antiquated" in this day and age when most hotels - and certainly ones of this quality - offer free Wifi throughout.

had a lovely time staying here. I stayed in a standard room ( asked to upgrade but all rooms had been booked ) so the downsides were; the air conditioning took forever to start, the movies I had purchased where not available in English which I was very confused about seeing as we were in England ? And lastly we had some very loud neighbours who decided that 3 am was a good time to start a karaoke sing along .. The positive were; room service was excellent !! Loved the efficient service .. And the view was amazing especially at night .. I would stay again but would upgrade to an executive suite !

Pleasant stay. Paid for upgrade to larger room/internet access. Was disappointed to be locked out of room having arranged late check out. Mixed staff: very helpful restaurant service staff, really pleasant bar man in lounge later for coffee but rude concierge greeting and seating in restaurant at breakfast.

I booked this hotel due to it's proximity to the ICC (there's a bridge across to it) and it worked really well for that. I would work equally well for a visit to the Symphony Hall. A lovely large room, excellent room and bar service. I wasn't booked in for breakfast (too expensive!) The Conference dinner was held there, but I would say that the quality was disappointing.

2 nights stay in early January. All staff were amazing, especially the door men, who looked after our car and gave us special privileges with our 5 month old. The room was spacious, bed was awesome, and although the pool was a bit on the chilly side, it was a cool feature. Great location and heaps of restaurants and in walking distance (cheaper than hotel). Only recommendation is better toilet roll - for a quality hotel, we'd hope for better than sandpaper. Thanks!

I did enjoy my stay as I needed the break .. The spa is lovely but I was desapointed with the breakfast being a 5 star I would expect more viourity very big disappointment

Overall a very good experience staying here with my husband and two year old son for a weekend break. Great location for Sea Life Centre and Brindley Place. Easy walk from train station. Views from room were worth the price of the room. Comfortable bed. Bathroom fine. Breakfast was very good with vast range. Most impressive was the childrens menu for lunch/dinner with amazing fish fingers and accommodating chef who would consider things off the menu also. Lounge area relaxing with pleasant ambience/ music. Downside was the pool was being tested by maintenance and had to wait till evening to use it. Overall would stay again and recommend.

We booked the Hyatt for New Years Eve 2014 / 2015; we were so looking forward to the night as it was close to the fireworks in centenary square. We booked through Expedia; 2 Adults and 1 Child "under 18" as required by the Expedia website drop down menu; our son is 17. When we got to the hotel we were told their policy was anyone over 12 years old was classed as adult they had not provided a second bed and were expecting our 17 year old to share a King Bed with us. We were then told we would need to find another £50 for an additional bed; we simply could not afford this. I pointed out on the booking we had been completely honest; 2 adults and 1 child under 18 on the Expedia booking but they would not listen; I therefore ended up sleeping on the floor the bed being shared by my wife and son. I think the booking companies classification of ages and the hotels they represent should at least match; we told the complete truth and lost out.

I stayed here overnight as I was attending my work's Christmas party at the ICC. The Hyatt is perfectly located for access to the ICC/Symphony Hall as there is a very convenient private bridge linking the two buildings. It's also perfectly located for accessing the bars and clubs of Broad Street and Brindley Place as well as the National Indoor Arena. The staff were excellent across the board, very friendly, helpful and efficient from the moment I arrived until I checked out. I'd actually forgotten to bring a set of cufflinks with me and the reception staff were happy to hunt for any spares they may have had. Unfortunately the only ones they could locate were the ones they had on sale, but they were a very reasonable £10 for a nice set in the shape of guitars. The room was clean and spacious with floor to ceiling windows giving a good view across the city (looking down over the Gas Street canal basin from my room on the 10th floor). The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had an excellent selection of toiletries. Only downside would probably be the lack of free wifi, but I wasn't in the hotel long enough for it to be an issue for me. Yes, the hotel cost more than some of the budget hotels nearby (although not too much more given the time of year), but you certainly do feel as if you're staying somewhere special. I've stayed in a few of the Birmingham city centre hotels over the years and the Hyatt is definitely the best in my opinion.

The staff from the door staff to the reception where very welcoming and helpful .The room was as you would expect from such a highly regarded hotel .The bridge to Symphony Hall was used on a night that turned out to be very cold and wet to normal pedestrians outside . The breakfast was good .All in all a very pleasant stay .I would particularly make mention of the staff and their pleasant attitude where nothing was to much trouble .

This is my third year running in this hotel as i come with my wife to spend a night on our wedding anniversary. Fantastic service, great food and the staff hospitality is second to none. Beer is a little dearer in my opinion but then again its a star hotel so cant moan a lot.

We booked for 2 nigts. Basically housekeeping did not clean bathroom. He/she changed only towels, no cleaning up floor, no emptied rubbish which made me disappointed. Swimming pool was really good.
