It was no less expensive than Kona's Seaside yet it was much more dated and run down. I did not see any bugs; however it should be noted I puposely kept my glasses off just in case! That being said I cannot state that you get what you pay for since Kona's Seaside was the same price and location but much better. This place should be condemned as extremely […] run down with threadbare carpet and rusted fixtures - truly disgusting. The hotel is located on strip in Kona that is extremely popular and across from numerous shops, restaurants and beach. Continental breakfast was skimpy and had to pay for parking. Hotel staff appeared tired of visitors and could use a rest. Uncle Billy himself was spotted motoring around hotel in electric chair so it is not as if he isn't aware. Additionally Uncle Billy owns several establishents that could use a good facelift to make Kona a prime vacation spot - shame on Uncle Billy for not caring! Read more

Had a ground floor room. The bathroom was dirty; lots of grime in the corners and obviously had not been cleaned well for some time. Musty smelling in bathroom. Carpet was damp. No air conditioning. The hotel was cheap. If they would paint or clean, it might not feel so terrible. The elevator smelled so badly, we took the stairs up 3 flights, just to avoid throwing up. Bathroom smelled like mildew.

Uncle Billies is great. It's not the Ritz but you are not paying for the Ritz. The restaurant has reopened . Food was fine and entertainment good. So close to Vocanoes National Park and other great attractions. Ask for the superior rooms. Lite breakfast fine. It's Hawaii - eat papaya!

Stayed here one night with my family as we were island hoping from Oahu. The only plus I can give this hotel is its location. It is right in the middle of Kona and within walking distance of some very nice sights and good restaurants. The hotel, on the other hand, is old and run down. Uncle Billy, if you're reading this, PLEASE perform a complete renovation... […] Top to bottom!! I will say that for as old and rundown as the place was, the employees who service it should be given raises because they sure managed to make it as clean looking as they could. However, there is no amount of cleaning that can fix peeling paint, rust, and just plain years of use. Because of our aggressive schedule on the Leeward side of the Big Island, my family and I literally showered and slept there. And even at that, I wish that I spent just a little more for a little extra feeling of comfort. It was probably the first time I thought twice about jumping under the covers and that was only because of my feeling about the rest of the place. If you're just looking for a cheap overnight stay then you'll almost get what you pay for here, but I recommend you spend just a few extra dollars and stay somewhere a little nicer. If you're backpacking around the island then this is the place for you, at least it is in my opinion. By no means do I have much, but I'm fortunate enough to have a little more than others and so I expect a little more when I pay to stay somewhere. Read more

This hotel is very conveniently located near the main drag, the beach, and the entry to the town. Unfortunately, it can also be quite loud with a layout that overlooks a pool on one side (think screaming children) and their parking lot on the other (allowing for the sounds of returning or arriving guests at all hours). The hotel is good, if considering the location and rate. However you need to understand the facility of the hotel is not brand new. One significant consideration is if you are ok with fan and ventilation fan for air conditioning. Hotel service is fine.

The desk clerk was rude. Room was dilapidated and bathroom had leftover hair in the shower. The sink in the bath area was clogged and drained very slowly. Didn't look good after three people had brushed their teeth. No microwave in room. It is pretty tired looking. Did like the little balcony. Oh, and the hot tub was cold, not hot.

We walked to most everything we did in the Kona area. Restaurants, shops, and much more easily accessible. The only challenge we had was a tsunami warning that caused us to have leave for several hours during the night. The hotel staff was very courteous and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We had a great stay. Paid extra for a partial ocean view & next morning we did have a view out to the ocean over the rooftops. Then the next day we could see the cruise ship in the harbor. Continental breakfast was ok and the location is great.

very friendly staff, great fruit, juice and pastry complementary breakfast. Rooms were old but clean and comfortable with included refrigerator. You could crank on wi/fi at any time for unlimited periods for free... a great benefit. It is located in the middle of the Kona action but you had to pay for parking. I recommend this place

Uncle Billys is clearly a well used hotel. It's design (horseshoe with balconies facing the sea) does make it feel a little like a 50's Motel. However, this is no bad thing and the view was really quite nice. The rooms were in a good state of repair although the toilet/shower area did feel a bit cramped (maybe it could be expanded into the sink area […] outside to give more room?). Again though this was not a major issue. The staff were friendly and courteous when checking in and departing and I would happily recommend Uncle Billys.
