When we checked in they said all of their guests get a Bellini on arrival, no big deal but it never showed up. We waited and waited for our luggage to be delivered and finally had to call down and ask where it was. It took about 1/2 hour for it to be delivered. I had a great stay it was very nice hotel with many amenities and a fabulous restaurant. My one complaint is that I showed up 1 hour after check in at 4 pm and my room was not ready. "Fun get away spot in LA"
This was a perfect LA boutique hotel for my bday get away with my boyfriend. We live in Laguna and wanted an easy stay but different than the beach. We got a nice 7th floor room and enjoyed the view with the in-room dining late the first night (in-house restaurant is highly recommended). Saturday am, we woke up and leisurely made our way downstairs […] to explore LA on our bikes and discovered our bikes ready to go outside near valet. Neither of us called for them but the bellman had an inclining that we would be using them. The room was comfortable and service was phenomenal, James at valet is a good host and provided great leads for Mothes day flowers. It's a fun bike ride from Beverly Hills to Sunset, if you are local or want to do LA different bring or rent bikes. LA can be a great biking city. Much of Santa Monica blvd has a bike lane. Everyone on staff is warm & doing their very best. But the hotel lacks consistency & needs significant work. The bed is extremely soft and therefore for me very uncomfortable. Rooms with balconies/views are great if you don't glance downward where a hideous mall awaits. Rooms themselves are nicely appointed but rather dusty and there are no drawers […] for clothing. One out of the 8 nights there was no turndown service. Pool area is very nice, with extremely comfortable places to lounge, but the same annoying house music plays there all day and night just as it does in the hotel lobby and lounge ( which are separated by feet but where fyi the prices are different for the exact same cup of tea). One of the couches in the lounge area was broken so people were virtually falling off it. Only once out of 3 or 4 times I sat at the pool did a staff member appear so I could order a beverage. Gym was completely unstaffed the 1 time I went to use it. It's located in the basement with no space for stretching. The food was good but room service showed up costing more than the already high prices on the menu (rectified at check-out). I wish they'd take all the veal off the menu and replace it with kinder/healthier options! Again, none of these criticisms are a reflection of the wonderful staff who are doing their best. I've been looking for a great, 5-star hotel in LA other than the 4 seasons and I think I've found it. The hotel definitely has the "cool" look and feel. I was staying on the 11th floor in a suite. They got one of my orders wrong one morning and they corrected it quickly without making any attempt to convince me that I ordered incorrectly. Had dinner at Mr C restaurant (same menu as Cipraini in NYC) and it was excellent. Guest get 20% off so that was a nice surprise. Good crowd and energy. The gym was just ok for a 5-star hotel - it was in the basement which was a bit drab, but all the machines were there and it was just fine. The location is in a neighborhood close to Beverly Hills. "Stylish, intimate and charming."
Lovely experience at Mr. C. Rather than checking at the counter, you sit at a stylish bar, are offered a drink/etc, as someone takes your information/credit card. The staff is extremely helpful - especially Rick, a bellman. The concierge was slightly brittle, and the morning staff on Saturday seemed less prepared/professional than their midday/midweek […] counterparts: A young woman at the desk offered to print my boarding pass, yet didn't know how. And the young man outside welcoming guests in his black suit said 'these people don't know how to follow directions' about a driver. It's a poor idea to disparage anyone at all to a guest. He also offered directions to the airport, but was insufficiently informed about 'Carmaggedon' which was a big deal that day. Those are exceptions, however. The barman, the bellmen, the valets, front desk staff, and house keepers were all charming and attentive. The rooms are extremely well designed, so the few flaws they do have stand out. For some reason, there are no sheer curtains on the huge balcony doors. So for privacy, one must close the heavy curtains, and do without natural light/the gorgeous view. That's a real shame. Also, the bathroom is well fitted, if small, but both my basins had terrible drainage. There was a some excess noise because I was above the valet/exterior to restaurant, but it wasn't too bad. "Labor Day Weekend family vacation"
Thought this hotel was very nice. Travel with husband, 11 yo and 13 yo who have all become pretty fussy about hotel quality, cleanliness and all were pleased with this hotel. Booked our room on hotels.com for basic double/double on lower floor and was pleasantly surprised that they put us on one of the higher floors without our asking. Room itself was […] very attractive and very clean (prefer the hardwoods to the stained carpet you see in most hotels)...just a little small for 4 and we considered getting a second room, but it ended up working out fine. Had a nice baclony with comfortable chairs and a great view of Beverly Hills and of the mountains in the distance. Given the perfect weather it was like having a very useable second space to spread out. My husband and 11 yo used the heated pool once. Said it was small but very nice. Our only compliant was that we had the misfortune of being in a room under some very late night partiers and heard music and heels (because floors are hardwoods) until about 4 am one night. Otherwise, peaceful nights sleep, comfy bed. Just a few blocks from the main area of Beverly Hills. Prob a 15-20 min. walk but they have a free car service and we had a rental so it was not an issue at all for us. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Would be happy to stay here again!
