We had a great time here. The bed / pillows were extremely comfortable, ac worked well, and most importantly internet was one of the only working one's we've found in our hotel room after weeks of traveling. Staff very professional and helpful. Good location for walking to cafes or shops and also easy access to main roads out of town. Breakfast was a plentiful buffet with something for everyone. Very nicely appointed with a balcony for sitting and viewing the harbor. Only drawback was the bathroom door - it was frosted glass which didn't hide much. Made it a little awkward since I was a mother sharing the room with my adult son and there was nowhere to stand when stepping out of the shower except right in front of the door. The hotel had everything I could ask for.... I forgot my toothbrush, they had them available and brought it to my room.... Needed an iron, brought that to my room as well.... Gave suggestions on places to eat.... Tv in the room had HDMI input so I could hook my laptop up and watch a movie if there was nothing on in English to watch (Greek Tv).... Breakfast […] was buffet style, not the greatest but that depends on the person and it was included so no complaints.... The only reason I gave the room a 4 out of 5 was cause it was supposed to be a non smoking room and for someone who doesn't smoke, it definitely smelt like a smoker may have stayed there previously.... Rooms were decent, great location but the hotel is separated into two buildings and this is not something they tell you when you make the reservation. It's incovinient because the reception,restaurant and breakfast is across the street.

We stayed one night to be able to catch the ferry the next day. We were upgraded to the penthouse suite with a beautiful view of the harbor, a lovely room and a buffet breakfast downstairs that was very nice. Staff was very helpful and in walking distance to restaurants and museums. We would stay there again - even without the upgrade!

Checkin was ridiculous. Arrival at 6:30 AM when ferry arrived resulted in the front dest agent saying our room would be ready about 13:00 and turned away. He did not give i=us information, nor turn on the lobby lights so we could wait, nor tell us about restaurant options. When we checked out he was repeating the same lack of information for others […] who arrived. Breakfast is OK, the eulogized restaurants was expensive but mediocre, as was the room. Beautiful decoration in the room (incredible view of the harbour in our room). Particulary nice and helpful staff. Delicious restaurant on the rooftop with superb view too. Lot of attention paid to details. Great location : close to the attractions and to the airport (although not too noisy). I would absolutely come back if I came back to Iraklio!

Stayed in Crete for two days, and this hotel is a nice central spot in Heraklion. It's very close to the airport by car, and within walking distance to most things in Heraklion. Room was clean and had a nice view of the ocean.

Booked the Lato given it's central location and other online reviews. Had a 2 bed (need to request ahead) room with small balcony. Room had nice modern/loft feel with updated decor/beds(very comfortable) and bath. Noise was little as we were on 3rd floor and facing harbor. About 10+minute walk from ferry port to hotel. Neighborhood borders vacant buildings/offices […] so walk with other person. Very close to ped mall, bus station B, fortress, restaurants, ATMs, ferry ticket offices, etc. Read more

We loved the Lato hotel. We had a terrific dinner on the roof and saw wonderful sunset from our room. It was close to the city center and the 12:00 checkout let us do a few things early in the day which was very nice. Would definitely recommend for a night or two in Heraclion.

The Lato was extremely convenient for its location near the port. Had no problem catching my morning ferry to Thira. The staff was extremely accommodating as well, just darlings. The rooms with a view have a spectacular panorama of the Sea of Crete. I will certainly be returning next time I am passing through Heraklion.

The beds were not as nice and we could not get wifi in the room. The hotel has a great location and it is very clean. Some rooms have great views of the harbor. Other rooms have a view of the back side of the next building. We had one of each during our stay. I arrived in Heraklion late in the evening via ferry, and was so relieved to be able to see the hotel from the port. A quick convenient walk from the ferry, close to the main square. Also a close walk to the bus stop, which was convenient to catch the bus to Chania. The hotel was clean and modern, with a nice big breakfast. The Lato is extremely well situated. All the sights and the bus station are within easy walking distance. The staff go out of their way to be helpful including recommendations for hotels in Hania and then getting us accomadations there. The breakfast was especially well done. Stayed here for business and leisure. The staff is very friendly and helpful, arranging whatever you might need. The view on the port is quite enjoyable. The breakfast buffet is pretty good and the location is perfect, 5 minutes from the port and from downtown. The architectural style is pure balkan, which you may or may not enjoy.

Lovely location, excellent breakfast, superb roof-top restaurant, excellent staff, bedrooms are a little tired, we had a Junior Suite and it was tiny and claustrophobic and bathroom had smelly drains. The balcony was tatty and had only one lounger for two people. Would not stay again but I would definitely eat at the roof-top restaurant.
