the elevator to the check in was dirty, I mean DIRTY. It was foul smelling and dirty that you didn't want to touch the walls of the elevator. the carpet lining was stained in patches. the room was a bit ok but the bathroom was dirty and moldy. the showerhead sprayed everywhere but inside the tub. the drain in the sink was just a hole. If you dropped something in the sink by mistake, you could forget it for life. Paying top dollars for the new years was just not worth it.

Hotel is very outdated. Room was dingy and bathroom was dirty. Faucet in bathtub broke and when it was fixed, would only turn to super hot water. However, great location to be in the middle of the strip, within walking distance to a lot of things. There is construction/renovation going on, so the rooms are in the process of being updated. Would only recommend the hotel for its location at this time.

It is a good thing they are planning to renovate this hotel in 2010, it sure needs it. I last stayed at the Tropicana in 2003, and don't remember it being like this. The air quality was horrible in the rooms, and the bed we had was incredibly uncomfortable. Not to mention the 19" TV that couldn't get a clear reception. I really hope that these pending renovations bring the Tropicana to the quality level of its neighbors. Until I see those improvements first-hand, I won't be staying there again.

The service at the hotel is very bad. Starting from the person on the registration desk to simple vendors in the hotel. The lady who should say at least a simple "welcome" did everything so we did not feel welcome at all. For the service in the room, they come to clean your room like at 7,8pm in the evening instead of during the day. Not dirty, but everything is so old, it smells. You can fall from the balcon, it is not stable at all. If you look to eat something in the hotel, it will be kind of difficult to find something eatable. It's not only bad, but expensive. The ladies who work in the gift shop cannot understand what you ask her, she just repeats "my manager, my manager" and when you ask where is he, so we can ask him a simple question instead you just receive "not know, not know". I will not recommend to anybody. I will be much better investment to give $5.00 more and just go to a nicer hotel. I cannot beleve I went to Tropicana myself, but this is the risk when you want to see a different hotel, you have never stayed before.

Although we were very satisfied with the hotel and the original price of the room, I was charged an additional $7.80 when checking in. This was called a resort charge which would allow me to receive incoming faxes, unlimited phone calls and one or two other amenities that I had absolutely no use for. Had I know about the additional "no choice" charges, I would not have stayed here.

We slept one night in such a room and then changed the room to another floor which also smelled the same. Then we changed another time the room and fortunately we were booked to the other tower and the room was okay. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. After reading other reviews I was a little nervous about our stay, but I think the low price was a great deal for the hotel. It's obviously a slightly older hotel, but it's clean, comfortable, and quite enjoyable. The bathroom was huge with a huge oval bathtub and lots of space for getting cleaned up. We were checked in very quickly and the staff was quite pleasant. There was only one bar in the hotel that opened before 10:30am, though, which is a bit of a pitfall for us social drinking Vegas visitors. There were also little shops set up, all-you-can-eat buffets, and an oxygen bar. But overall, especially considering the price, I will definitely be staying again.

When I checked in the hotel charged a $9 per night "resort fee" on top of what I already paid through hotels.com. I sked what the fee was for, they told me it was for use of their pool and hot tub. Well on day 2 I went to use the hot tub only to find out the pool and hot tub were under renovation. So I was paying a fee to use something that doesn't exist. Bed was very worn out. TV had about 8 channels total. Parking lot is very small for a hotel that size. So a couple times we had to park in a remote overflow parking lot.
