"Not the Tropicana I remember"
I stayed there 20 years ago and have good memories of it, but this time I was disappointed. Sure the room was big and comfy, but some of the staff were impolite. The café at lunch only had one lady working. A red bull shouldn't cost more than a beer. The starbucks stand sold a cup of oatmeal for 7 dollars which I thought was excessive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Other than the fact that we needed to get two rooms for 5 people, it was a great hotel. And for as much as you pay it would be nice to get free wifi.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were just passing thru on our way to Utah. So it was just an overnight stay. Hotel was great. Customer service was great also. Hotel was very clean and nice. The price was good too. I will definitely stay again. Everything was in walking distance so I got to see some of Vegas. Glad we stayed there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wasn't disappointed! The room was terrific!"
We had a renovated room that was super clean! Great view of the strip. Pool was very nice. Casino isn't too big, which we like. Parking was easy. Staff was helpful and friendly. The only area that needs improvement is the exterior landscape, other than that we had a great stay and would stay again for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Vegas Retro Style"
This is definitely old school Vegas swag! The hotel has a bright airy feel throughout. The lighted registration desk made you feel like you stepped back in time. Check in/out was easy and staff very polite. This was a wonderful home base location close to but far enough away from the monster super-sized hotels. Only down side were no micro/fridge/coffee […] in the rooms, pool didn't open til 8:30 am, and gym closed at 7. Location was a quick walk or monorail ride to everything. Definitely prefer the boutique style of this hotel over the others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great new look!"
Glad to see this property brought up to date. Had a blast and our two teenagers were treated great by the pool staff. This isn't the case everywhere. Also, we were very happy with the amount of free play matched by the players club program.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Who knew the Tropicana would be this nice?"
We opted to do Expedia's hidden-hotel-discount feature and selected a 4 star hotel. At first, I was disappointed that our hotel was the Tropicana. We have been to LV many times, and have stayed at quite a few of the places on the strip. But now that I've stayed there, I think I will most likely stay again! It was quieter, less smoky, and less crowded […] than most of the other casinos on the strip. Our 'cheap' room was nicer, more comfortable, and cleaner/newer than a mid-priced room at Bally's, where we stayed 6 months ago. Even places like Mandalay Bay and the Monte Carlo seem way too big and just not as classy as the Tropicana. After our crazy days wandering around the strip, it was wonderful to return to a low(er) key casino. I was worried about there not being a monorail, but the monorail at MGM was not only surprisingly easy to get to from the Tropicana, but I think it helped keep the traffic in the casino to a minimum. Also, I was expecting "old" people. Nope. Lots of middle aged folks (shoot, maybe I'm now the 'old' person!), very few kids, and very low-key. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Room smelled of tobacco ."
There were no other rooms available fo switch to and got stuck with a smelly room. Got a room at another hotel for 3 of 4 nights. No refunds were allowed by expedia so the trip cost me twice as much.Genuine Expedia guest review
Not especially pleased with the reception we got at the desk and were misdirected to the chapel...making the journey quite difficult with a wheelchair. The maintenance fellows were very helpful to redirect us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice but old and far from the action"
The Tropicana was good for the price, but with it being at the end of the strip, it was 1.5 miles away from all of the nice and fun things about Vegas. Pool was big and packed, rooms are slightly updated but show their age with popcorn low ceilings and outdated bath hardware and doors. I would recommend Treasure Island if you wanted to stay in this […] price range. Could be more expensive but it is in a much better location as nobody wants to walk 5 miles a day in the heat. I guess it wouldn't be too bad if you were going to stay exclusively on the South side of the strip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
we reserved regular room for 2 night but they gave us Suite Room for 1 night. it was so beautiful but only two think they should repair, the parasol was broken in the balcony and Jacuzzi was so dirty. but it was still so nice. for the 2nd night the regular room was still okay, However there was no shower gown, coffee maker, refrigerator.Genuine Expedia guest review
"First trip to Las Vegas"
My husband and I as well as another couple took a kid free vacation and the hotel was great for the price. The room was comfortable, the AC blew super cold (108 outside) we were thankful, and the Pool was clean and well kept. We could walk to other hotels with ease. If you want to be close to the shops and the Fancy hotels (Aria, Belagio, Cesars) this […] is not super close. We did walk down there but it was hot and uncomfortable. The comedy club on site was fantastic! For the price this was a great stay. That being said, there was a stained towel (big stain ) that probably should not have made it in our room, the tub has a bit of peeling paint, and the casino was small. Again, none of those were deal breakers, just didn't use that towel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Las Vegas Trip - Staying At Tropicana"
Had a great time in vegas - food, shows, gambling, great weather. Signed up for vegas power pass and monorail pass. Good money spent to keep busy with entertainment. Monorail saved us money in taxis cab fares and allowed us to explore the entire strip.Genuine Expedia guest review
the entire experience was not near special or memorable. There are no good eating options inside the hotel. the casino was small with little room to move around. the ceilings were very close to the ground making everything feel stuffy. I'm glad we did not party in the hotel and would not go back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You get what you pay for"
Because of the low price, you don't stay in the hotel proper, but the Bungalow's which is probably the original hotel. I was expecting an upscale hotel, but it was along the lines of a remodeled old Holiday Inn. Our balcony overlooked laundry bins. The hotel is at the end of the strip, so everything is north of the hotel. It is close to the airport […] though. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok hotel...just not my favorite"
We arrived at 7:15pm after a long drive from the Grand Canyon National Park. We reserved a room with two queen beds (traveling with 2 kids) and at check-in we were told there was no room available. After a 10 minute wait, the check-in clerk returned to tell us they found us a room (no apologies-no concessions to make us feel like we were welcomed to […] stay at this hotel. When we got to our room we found they put us next to elevator and ice machine. So we changed and headed to the pool, only to find the pool closed for the night. Closing a pool at 7:30 pm on a Friday night in Las Vegas (temp was 102 that day) seems silly to me. We were very disappointed and won't be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Tropicana is a Great Value at South End of Strip"
I purchased 5 nites (Sun-Thurs) during a flash sale, paid $211 (excludes the 19.95 resort fee). The cleanliness is outstanding. The casino walkways were stripped and waxed nightly! Hotel room was clean and towels replaced daily. Bed linens are changed on the 3 rd day of stay. Stayed in the Paradise Tower (the original tower) vs the Club Tower (new tower). […] Although great effort was put into restoring the rooms, I did notice the bath tub showed wear. I stayed on the 3rd floor, the view was of the strip roof lighting the side of building. This didn't bother me; however, I noticed that the cement/paint needed attention. Pool area was beautiful and correlates with the cabana theme of the Tropicana. Their slot rewards was spend $200 in a single day and receive $100 in comp play during your stay with another $100 comp play within 30 days. Not bad. Although, I found better comps at the neighboring MGM Grand where I won $$$$. Mama Mia is a must see if you enjoy the music of ABBA. The performance was delightful! The actors were outstanding. Noticed that on Thursday night crowds of younger (21 yr old) visitors were on the strip and in casinos for the Vegas weekend party scene. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Sneaky Resort Fees"
Overall it's nice hotel but I wish they would be upfront about the resort fee. Why is the resort fee charged separately than my original payment to Expedia? It's the last item they discuss at the front desk so the customer is committed to paying that. The Trop is a beautiful hotel with a friendly staff. Just be upfront about the resort fee - why does […] The Trop have to do something sneaky? Also, there are no places to get a quick bite to eat unless you want chips from the gift shop. Overall a nice experience if you're aware of the caveat mentioned above. Most will like The Trop. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Ups and downs..."
First problem started at check-in. When presented my confirmation number they said I had a standard, non-view room (which is not what I booked on Expedia). When I showed them the Expedia email, they honored it, but said the room type Expedia used doesn't exist. The room was clean, nice size. Avoid room 1431 though as it is next to the cleaning staff […] closet which they went in and out of (loudly) all hours of the day and night. My big issue was they never cleaned the room. We got up and left a little late (1:15 - 1:30)... but was gone for 7 hours. The room wasn't serviced. No problem, we left for dinner. On the way I stopped at the front desk. The apologized and said they would send someone ASAP. We got back 2 hours later... and the room wasn't serviced. I called an got towels for the next day. At 11:50 PM there was a knock at the door... we are here to clean your room... are you serious. Anyways. Other than the noise and service.. the trip was nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Was a disappointment"
Very impersonal. No refrigerator, microwave or coffee maker. The hotel restaurant took too long over an hour and a half to get your food even though we tried to save time by picking up the food. "Nicely located hotel on the strip next to the MGM"
The hotel is not the newest or the largest, and the casino is one of the smaller ones on the strip. But the hotel is excellently located and has a nice pool.Genuine Expedia guest review
Got in the room wasn't overly impressed. I've read there was a remodel. Room seemed dated tub looked stained and was chipping everywhere. Smoke alarm battery was dead so it beeped every thirty seconds and at 3 am stumbling back to room was kinda annoying when I just wanted to sleep. Maids never came unless they were called. Left the room all day only […] to come back with no new towels no bed made. All in all wasn't impressed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Spent 4 nights in Vegas over the 4th of July holiday. The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. The check in process was quick and easy! We arrived at 11a.m and was allowed to check in right away! We are planning to go back again. We had a Ball!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Will not stay again"
I will never stay at this hotel again. My boyfriend and I came for 4th of July weekend (and our anniversary). I asked the reservation desk when we were checking in if they had free wifi. He said no and it would be a $19.95 fee, so we said nevermind. Then he asked us to sign something for the charges etc and noticed the $19.95 and I said we do not want […] internet. He said it's a resort fee and mandatory to pay that each day for pool, gym and internet. This is RIDICULOUS. We get to our room and notice there is no fridge. Really??? It's VEGAS. So I called the Front Desk and she said they could bring up a fridge for $15 per day!! Are you crazy??? So I said so you force us to pay $20 a day fee and now you charge for a fridge?? I told her we would never stay here again and hung up. A minute later she calls me back at the room and said they would give us the fridge for free for the rest of our stay (should have ALREADY BEEN FREE). So I thanked her and she said they would be right up....over half an hour later they decide to show up. Their blinds are not dark enough to hold out the light and the AC did not seem to get cold enough. Granted it was over 100 degrees but the pool could have been a little warmer. Their pool could have been better, they had one side closed off and said it would open sat which is strange and when it was "open" it was still closed off for Gay and Lebsian but we walked in and nothing was said to us. It was more fun on that side! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Difficulty with front desk"
My sister and I were meeting in Vegas, both from different states. I arrived 2 days before her. I called 2 wks ahead to link our room reservations for 2 beds non smoking so I wouldn't have to check in and back out again on the day she arrived. They said they could link them but couldn't guarantee anything. When I arrived, they could only give me a smoking […] king room. Spent the whole next day trying to get a different room. Front desk staff not accommodating or friendly. After switching rooms, the rest of the experience was good. What a hassle and waste of valuable vacation time! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Super Yummy Cookies"
Upon arrival the woman at the reception desk was incredibly friendly. We were surprised by the offer of free cookies (from the nearby cafe) and boy, were they tasty! Even though the walk to our tower was a bit long (a ride on an elevator, a long hallway and another elevator ride) we didn't have a problem after finding a back way to the self-parking […] lot to reload our luggage upon leaving. The location is pretty great. Right across from the MGM and New York-New York (we had a pretty good view of NY-NY, but it was marred by the front building). The room was very nice, and clean. The only problem we had was with the tub drain. The stopper was worn and wouldn't stay up. You do have to go through the casino, so if smoke bothers you too much, walk fast. Mostly would just like another entrance for the back tower, but unless mobility is a major issue, I would recommend The Tropicana as a solid Las Vegas hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
