Hotel staff was great, resturant was excellent and while the hotel was a bit dated it was overshadowed by the smiles, service and quality of the staff. The location was just as promised and the balcony allowed a great view of the water.

The beach on the Gulf is located just across the street a short walk away. The hotel overlooks the bay area towards the east. From our balcony, we were fortunate to see dolphins swimming. Overall nice and quite. There is only one (slightly pricey) restaurant located next door, but it is nice. There is also a casual diner nearby, which served a good […] breakfast. The First thing I noticed after entering the room was the smell of raw fish all over the place. The second was its worn-out, unclean carpet and furniture. The third was its hard-to-access, old microvawe and refrigerator with very poor lighting in the room. Make sure you take a flashlight with you in case you need to find the refrigerator or to use the […] microwave. Hotel was Great !! Staff was Great !! Bed was a great night stay !! We stayed the next night at the Sheraton, across the street, at which we were not as pleased. The bed was terrible. Both my wife and I had back aches in the morning. Next time I need to stay in Sand Key it will be with The Marriott.

Hotel staff, for the most part were extremely helpful. The hostess at the restaurant was rude when we inquired about a seating for a party of 10 for breakfast. The room decor seemed old. We has an issue with our toilet the entire stay (3 days). The most disappointing was the view from the balcony. The hotel is beautiful and a great location. There are 2 things that need work one is the service by the pool. The bartenders and servers were very slow and at times seemed confused on who was waiting on who..We also dined in the restaurant and I was a bit surprised at how high the prices were as was my 18yr old daughter. But being on a weekend getaway […] and it is a Marriott I said get whatever you want. The steak is way overpriced for the quality of meat and we were the only table eating in the restaurant because it was an early dinner and I still had to ask someone for our server twice and had to remind him two seperate times my daughter would like a sprite. Yes I would stay at the hotel again and give them another chance. I will just be curious how they will hold up when its our busy season in the summer time. Read more

I have never stayed at a hotel where the staff was so friendly and helpful. the hotel is beautiful , but I would recommend the side of the hotel facing the pool. We stayed in two different rooms and the room away from the pool is very noisy from the huge AC unit.But he staff was just delightful, especially the front desk , especially SANDY.

I felt the attention to details was lacking. There were dirty dishes left in the hallways on the third floor and with the incredible winds those two days, foods was scattered in front of the elevators. I thought with the costs of the rooms, Wifi should have been included without additional fees to hotel guest.

I thought the location of the hotel was great, the pool was great, the staff was friendly and the room was fine. We did have an issue with the toilet overflowing ~ this was on the first morning we were there. Maintenance came immediately and housekeeping brought clean towels within 10 minutes but than no one came to clean the bathroom floor for hours […] - to be honest, I don't know if they really cleaned the floor....it grosses me out to think about it. I know they came and made beds etc but until i called and asked if they would be cleaning the bathroom floor, i don't think they thought it necessary. After an overflowing toilet, sanitizing is a must!!! So that was a disappointment and an inconvenience but, I have to say, if it wasn't for that, everything would have been great! Read more

It is a beautiful hotel! The staff and everyone working there were very considerate and cordial. The outside bar was great! The pool is beautiful with a waterfall. The beach is not near the pool, it is across the street (a little deceiving). The only real disappointment was their restaurant. We stayed at this hotel based on it's ratings both Expedia and Traveler Opinion. I will begin by saying that this is not a 4.6 or higher hotel. I would say it is a solid 4 at best. The hotel is slightly dated and it is not located on the beach. Actually they have a golf cart service to the beach and all I can say is in the off season we waited 30 minutes […] before walking back to the hotel (which was not very far but not convenient either). The staff, as you would expect from a Marriot was exceptional. Extremely helpful and pleasant. The pool area was great but I cannot emphasize enough that with all the options in this price range in this area I would prefer to stay "on the beach" for convenience purposes. The rooms were old and a bit musty smelling albeit clean and having the convenience of a suite with a child was a bonus but if I were to return to this area (which I expect I will) I will not be staying at the Marriot Suites. Sorry Marriot I am a Rewards Member and have stayed at many of your places just not this one again. Read more

First, the rooms smell strange, kind of humid odor inside. Their "buffet" breakfast is a joke, very limited. Each time we asked for "hot" tea we got warm to cold water. We had the breakfast for one day and went out the rest. You can have a little better breakfast in Sheraton across the street or much better in Hyatt Regency if you can drive little. […] They are the same price anyway. Hotel's "business center" is very small, has only 3 chairs and no pens, no fax machine, no scanner. So other than browsing the internet there is nothing can be done for business! The fitness center is outside the hotel. You have to walk outside each time to go into fitness. The kids club was closed every day when we were there. They have a notice on window saying that need an appointment ahead. If you can't assign an employee at least during the day time please don't list that in the hotel features. Read more

The view from room was awesome-looking on the water. The pool area very nice; wish they had a better playground for the kids-old swingset/slide and not much else. Breakfast buffet not worth the $18.95 price. The shuttle too the beach was great. The rooms felt old and the balcony was not very inviting for such a nice view.

The Marriott Sand Key is an AWESOME place to stay. The view of the bay off our room (7th floor) balcony and the view (ocean in the distance) from our living room were spectacular! The pool with its two waterfalls is heated to 85 degrees and is so inviting. We enjoyed the hot tub too! Each and everyone of the Marriott staff await you! Sand Key Beach […] is very nice, but not the powdery sand like Clearwater Beach. The Marriott has a courtesy van and buggy that will take you to Sand Key Beach ANYTIME you want to go and there is a phone at the beach bathhouse where you can call when you are ready to go back to the hotel. There is a beautiful Boardwalk from the Marriott to lots of shopping and other restarurants. We flew into Tampa Airport and found it easy to rent a car and navigate to Clearwater. It is only about 15-20 miles to Clearwater / Sand Key and NO TOLL ROADS. We followed 60W from Tampa Airport to Clearwater until it dead ends right into Gulf Blvd. Sand Key and Clearwater are beautiful. You will not be disappointed. Clearwater Beach is just a jaunt from the Marriott hotel and is actually a nice short drive (maybe 2-3 miles). We went in November and found a jacket necessary in the evening. We were there 5 days. Our first two days were in the low 60's & upper 60's then the beautiful low 80's. Read more

Enjoyed our recent stay at the hotel. Great views. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is across street from beach which is somewhat disappointing but they did provide transportation back and forth to Sand Key Beach across the street and provided towels. The beach is very nice - it is lined with small shells. You can rent very nice padded lounge […] chairs with umbrellas on the beach. These chairs are much nicer then the ones at Clearwater Beach. I have stayed at this hotel once before with my son. THis trip he took a friend. The rooms were perfect for this situation. I had the bedroom and they could use the front room with sofa bed! The hotel faces the bay(which the hotel sits on) and you look from the front and can see the ocean. THe restaurant at the hotel is excellent and the pool bar if so convenient! You can order lunch, dinner or just a snack while poolside! Very kind staff and Savanah, the pool deck manager is the best! She really keeps the place in perfect condition! Very friendly staff and helpful! I also love that there is a shopping strip next door with some fun shops for everyone plus several great little restaurants. My family was a little disappointed in the hotel. It was older than the pictures on the website indicated. The pool was beautiful, however, you have to get there early in the morning to get a lounge chair. The toilet in our bathroom had trouble flushing, but maintenence came out right away and fixed the problem. The faucet also leaked. We reviewed many hotels in the Clearwater Beach area and settled on the Marriott for acouple reasons: child activities (have 2 kids - 6 and 8) , right on or at minimal access to beach, and good pool area. Lisa Klubhouse was a hit w my older son who begged to hang out there acouple hours a day, while my younger son spent the whole day in the pool....a […] win-win for both. They both loved the Dive-in movie night (late night swim and outdoor movie). The staff (concierge, front desk, housekeeping, Lisas, doormen, staff getting back and forth to beach) were all fantastic w my family. We were alittle concerned w beach commute but used the transfers and never had a problem...they gave us lots of water bottles, towels and beach toys for the kids...truly first class treatment for us. We used the path beside the S hotel on two days when we wanted some exercise. We used the inroom fridge/freezer to house bfast stuff and went out for lunches and dinners...worked out very well as we wanted to sleep in and our youngest is an early riser. Overall an excellent hotel and fantastic staff., and would definitely good back for a return visit. Read more

Really nice hotel, our room was fine. Door handle to bedroom was broken so it kept opening while my kids were sleeping and the balcony door was getting stuck often. I was told that the hotel was on the beach. Well, the public beach is across the street so a buggy service takes you there which is fine too.
