"Currently undergoing renovation."
This hotel is currently undergoing renovation and there may be some confusion as a result of that. Our room was clean, had towels, etc., but did not have soap and toiletries when we arrived. We had plenty of our own items, so that did not bother us. The crew doing the work was professional and appeared to be working quickly while making allowances for […] the safety of the guests. They had their equipment set up in the courtyard, so that was not a place to relax during the day, but was a nice quiet spot at night. The location is excellent. Parking is a bit expensive at twenty eight per day. I am sure this will be a wonderful place to stay once the renovations are completed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The pictures online drew me to the place, and its proximity to everything in the quarter was fantastic. When we got there, I was initially a bit disappointed because we had paid for a deluxe room on hotels.com to get a king bed and room with a view. Well, we walked into a queen sized bed in the room, and the courtyard view unfortunately was temporarily […] messed up due to renovations currently going on in the hotel. I politely told the front desk worker that I wasn't try to be a problem, but I had paid extra for a deluxe room, and at the very least, my friend and I wanted the king sized bed. The desk worker simply told me that sometimes online booking cannot guarantee these things, and she swiftly took care of it. The second room was definitely deluxe. Spacious with a 2 window view if the street, king bed, beautiful exposed brick walls, and new fixtures, we were definitely impressed. The staff was courteous the entire time and the lady on staff that dealt with us at check in definitely made the best of the situation by fixing things quickly. Thanks! The staff at this property was very nice and helpful with what they have to work with. Lots of renivation going on at this hotel. It was very awkward getting to the room in the renovated side of the property. One afternnoon it rained and we were forced to walk through 2 inches of rain to get to newly renovated section of the hotel due to poor drainage […] in the courtyard area. This same area that we were forced to walk through had a very bad sewage smell probably due to all of the underground plumbing that was open and exposed during the construction. This will be an good hotel to stay at in about 2 years when the renovation is complete. I also need to say that the A/C in our newly renpovated room was insufficient. The A/C panel said that it was 67 degrees but it felt more like 74-75 degrees. I did bring this to management's attention with in 10 minutes of being in the room and was told that this was the lowest setting. I cannot recommend this property for these reasons at this time....sorry. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is the best hotel ive ever stayed at in New Orleans. I come here a lot and have tried many ones. The location could not be better. Walking distance to everything!! I liked the old French feeling of the place and loved the location but the hotel is not in the best condition. The faucet was a bit loose in the bathtub and the towel rack was not attached properly to the wall. Just little things like that. Not a big deal whatsoever and the price was great for the location. I liked it and would stay there again. It's […] not a luxury hotel but very quaint. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is under heavy reform but had no impact in my stay. My room was noiseless, big, clean, moderm and very comfortable, not to talk about the excelent location. Wish hotel has swiming pool to make it almost perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Another great stay"
The was my 2nd stay at French Market Inn. The people working the desk were friendly, efficient, and helpful. My room was clean and well appointed. For the price, the location is perfect. Right in the Quarter without being in the middle of all the chaos. This is the best type of hotel in New Orleans. The rooms are small and it's not full service but, […] those things aren't necessary. There are dozens of restaurants, shops, bars, and others things to do within walking distance. "Right in the mix and yet quiet and very pleasant"
This facility is being redone. We were given a redone room and found it deoightful! It had character and also functionality. Everything worked as it should. Staff were competent and subtle, yet always available. Couldn't have asked for a better room or abetter location.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Wonderful little gem!"
I was very happy with my five night stay at the French Market Inn. The room was a good size and very clean and comfortable. I loved the brick work in the room, and my balcony overlooking Decatur Street. I could even see part of the River from the balcony. I had a flat screen television and a large shower, all apparently new. It was was quite convenient […] to the French Quarter, and especially the French Market and the Cafe du Monde. It's an old building, and it's old New Orleans, not some flashy hotel. The staff was very helpful with directions, guidance, etc. I plan to stay again. Highly recommended. "Great place to stay"
The hotel was charming and the location was perfect. Just at the edge of the French Quarter, but close enough to Burbon St and all the stores that it was pleasant to walk around. Being on the edge of the French Quarter the room was quiet at night, however our room didn't have any windows so you couldn't tell if it was day or night. "Economic French Quarter Option"
I booked a room through Expedia at the absolute last minute for a conference. The rate was nearly 200 dollars less than the Hilton Riverside including airfare so I was very satisfied. It is currently under renovation and navigating the hallways and elevators reminded me of staying on a cruise ship, especially being in an "interior cabin" type room. […] Not having a window was a bit of a drawback, but the location really made it worthwhile. It was about a half-mile from the conference center at the Hilton and a block and a half from Jackson Square. Expedia also included a voucher for the Hop On Hop Off bus tour, which allowed me to make it all the way over to the World War II museum and back in time for a bit of lunch and a walk to my meeting, all free of charge. We were also just steps from the Steamboat Natchez (and the river for that matter), which was a great perk as well. The food choices just in a four block radius should be enough for anyone (and I am a seriously picky eater). For the money and being in the heart of it all, I really can't complain. "Good location, questionable quality"
It's not terrible but for the price they should definitely offer more. No fridge in room, broken TV remote, tiny room, poor lighting. Besides extremely expensive valet parking, you have to park in public parking lot across the street (also expensive) or more than a mile away. Right on the French Quarter, however, very practical.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We had a very pleasant experience at the French Market Inn. The staff was wonderful, the room was new and the shower was awesome. Would love to stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was undergoing construction/maintenance so it was a bit confusing when it came to getting to our room. We're a young couple and we were just staying for the night so it didn't bother us too much. The king bed we had was very comfortable, and the bathrooms were small but very nice. "Good locations, poor condition"
The hotel is in a wonderful location with a good view if the Mississippi, but the rooms were not well maintained. The paint on the walls was is terrible shape and the hot water was never better than warm.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best Location within French Quarter"
Only one drawback: We were on third floor in a section with no elevator service between 2nd and 3rd floor. A little hard on senior citizens like us, 70 & 73 years old.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"In middle of French Quarter"
Great location. Near the river, restaurants and shops. Room was quiet for being in the middle of everything. New Orleans charm: You have to walk through a court yard and brick hallway to get to the elevator. Room had brick wall on one side and exposed beams in the extremely high ceiling. Very nice and modern bathroom.Genuine Expedia guest review
"close location but the conditions weren't great"
While the location is good, the quality of the hotel isn't. I know they are doing repairs to it, but some things need to be fixed right away. Peeling wallpaper, sink handles that come off, sticky floors, trash in the stairwells...these things are MUST FIXES, not maybe fixes.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nothing like the pictures on the website"
The room was tiny, the carpet very stained, the towel rack was broken, the bathtub faucet was hard to turn on, my husband had to turn it on and off for me. The headboard was loose and hit the wall evetytime we moved in the bed. The walls are thin, we could hear everyone coming and going. For the price we paid we could have stayed at a much nicer hotel. […] There was only one clerk working and 2 couples a head of us. It took 45 minutes to check in. I will never stay there again and will not recomend to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great for our short trip!"
We booked this last minute and are so glad we did! The hotel is in a wonderful location, so close to everything in the Quarter. The hotel is undergoing a renovation so there are some maintenance crews on the property during the day, but we were never bothered by noise. Our room was one that was recently renovated and was very well made up. The Lobby […] is beautiful and the courtyard was small but was nice to go read. We also got a room with a shared balcony that overlooked the street and had a view of the river. We spent more time out there than we thought we would. I suggest checking other websites, including the hotel's, before booking. Hotels com was great and price matched, but we could have saved quite a bit of hassle if we had just done a little more searching. Also: Rooms listed as "Standard" on this website for this property are "interior" rooms with no window. Just so everyone knows. Minnie and Jenna were so friendly and helpful, both on the phone before our arrival, and during our stay. It was a great couple days for a last minute trip and we are so glad we found this hotel. We will be back for our next NOLA getaway! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Couldn't fault it"
Beautiful rooms with great decor. Staff were helpfulGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good location-that's about it!"
Hotel-COLD showers both nights/mornings, TINY room, lumpy mattress (could literally feel the springs in the mattress-also had to ask for more pillows), mouse trap under the chair in the room, noisy (both in the hallway and on the street outside the window), train runs nearby and blows whistle at about 3 in the morning. When we first arrived, we grabbed […] a luggage cart to start unloading our luggage from the car. A man standing in front of the hotel grabbed our cart as if he was an employee. It took us a minute or two to realize that he was just a local vagrant looking for a tip/handout. The hotel bellhop finally showed up to help us, and the vagrant went back to standing outside the hotel. Valet parking-took an average of 20 t0 30 minutes to retrieve our car when we needed it. The parking was an extra $33 per day in addition to the hotel room. New Orleans room tax was RIDICULOUS-added another 13+% to the total for the room. Also, was promised a free ticket to the "Hop-and-Go" sightseeing tour bus (value $30) by Expedia if we booked the room with Expedia-no one at the hotel or at the tour company would honor this. I was told to contact Expedia to get a coupon (no computer/printer with me on the trip) or prove that this had been offered to me. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was my first trip to New Orleans and when I go back, I will definitely stay here again. It's just a few blocks from both the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. It's also still well within walking distance of the Harrah's Casino nearby as well. The front desk service was excellent, as was the bell hop. As for downsides, The maid wasn't very friendly […] and one of our two beds was quite worn out and uncomfortable. However, renovations are still ongoing and by mid-next year they plan to have it fully completed. I highly recommend a stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy Room, Great Location"
The room was small, which suited me just fine. I can't believe how little I paid for a room right next to Jackson Square, the French Market, and Bourbon street.Genuine Expedia guest review
The stay was ok. The room could use a good dusting and vacuuming. The mattress was as old as the hotel, could feel every spring in it. Great location in the French Quarters. They are under construction, one set of stairs was blocked. I would only stay there again if I couldn't find a hotel in the area for a reasonable price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just a night"
Check in was a breeze, friendly staff. Hotel was going through some renovations at the time, so one must be open minded when giving feedback. If you are looking for a spot to crash for a night or two, this place works just fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Work in progress"
Half of the hotel is under construction as they update it, so it's hard to say just how it will be eventually. My room was small but clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff seemed friendly. Extra amenities are basic (for now, I don't know what they'll be like when the construction is finished), so no pool, didn't see anything like an ice machine anywhere, […] etc. -- but that was fine for me, I just needed a clean and quiet place to sleep, and that's what I got. The location on Decatur is nice, the Quarter is small so everything is still walkable, but the hotel is close enough to the edge of the Quarter that it isn't busy/noisy at night. "Feels like its close to everything."
Wish I could stay longer. Best seafood for the price you will ever get. And have a new appreciation for fried or blackened gator. Being a New Yorker, wasn't used to stores closing so early. Avoid the pizza and hotdogs, but dig into everything else. You won't be disappointed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Historical nice hotel"
This hotel was very nice of appearance and atmosphere, appearance looks very historical though inside is modified contemporary and comfortable. Location is easy access to French Quarter so even stayed bar by midnight easy to come back.Genuine Expedia guest review
First trip to New Orleans, very disappointed in the room. Lobby was pretty and thought it was going to be great until we had to go up an elevator out the door onto an old deck that was scary to walk across then back inside and down a narrow hallway to our room, carpet was nasty, beds you could practically feel the springs in.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A hidden jewel in the French Quarter"
I needed a room last-minute, so I was open to just about anything. However, I was greatly surprised what a great deal I got on such a cool hotel so close to the French Quarter! The sales guy I spoke with was great, and it was a very quick & seamless transaction. I am very satisfied with my experience with Hotels.com.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel on the outskirts of the French Quarter"
The hotel is still being remodeled, so the common areas were a bit messy. We asked for and received a renovated room, which made a big difference I think. Base rooms don't have windows which is kind of odd, but not too bad. Location was great, very close to Cafe Du Monde and close enough to Bourbon St that it was nearby, but not close enough to make […] you deal with the mess on that street. Beautiful inn with clean, and stylish updates. The courtyards were pretty and the staff was very kind. Great location. I go to the Quarter usually twice a year and this hotel is by far the best value i've experienced. I will come back.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room had a very unusual smell... kind of like sulphur and formaldehyde mixed with mildew. The mattress was not very comfy and the bathroom paint was peeling. I've stayed at numerous hotels in NOLA and most are in old, renovated buildings, so I understand that in most cases you're going to find more hotels with the charm of an old building rather […] than the shiny cleanliness of a brand new hotel, but the only charm of this place is its location. For the same price you can get into the Ambassador or the Royal Saint Charles, which may not be in as prime of a location, but it's worth it to not sleep with a clothespin on your nose! "Renovated? and how!"
the historic french market inn was already a wonderful value. now it's even better. new lobby, beautiful rooms (my double ended up being an enORMOUS room with a huge bathroom, and two queen beds. oh, and the decatur street windows have been replaced with balconies. yup...at the same rate.) the interior layout is a bit confusing, as renovation is ongoing, […] but not hard at all to find things. the only complaint I had was the absence of vending machines. but for the price and location, it's a small complaint. this place really is hard to beat.
