THE HOTEL IS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN CITY CENTER. BUILDING HAS AN OLD WORLD CHARM BUT ROOMS ARE TINY AND NOT WELL MAINTAINED. STAFF ARE NOT AS FRIENDLY AS PEOPLE OF MELBOURNE.

This is a run-down place, however, the location is good. We stayed in a "courtyard room" which was simply a dump. The cleaning crew deserve a medal for trying to make it more presentable. They did not have our room ready when we arrived at 2:30 am. They finally put us in an upgraded room but told us we would have to move to another room in the morning. At 10:00 the next morning we received a phone call saying that we needed to be out of our room within a half hour (keep in mind that we didn't get to sleep until after 3:00). We started […] to shower, and as my husband started to undress there was a knock at the door and before he could say anything, the housekeeper started to walk in! When we complained at the front desk and asked for free parking, free breakfast, discount, etc., they said they had already given us an upgrade and that's all they could do for us. The good news is, this hotel is in a great location for exploring Melbourne on foot - very close to Flinders Street station, so you can be right in the middle of the city within a very short space of time. The bad news is, the hotel was incredibly noisy - all the lower-priced rooms are built around a central courtyard, and you will be able to hear […] EVERYTHING that happens pretty much anywhere around this courtyard... people talking, people walking, etc. And since the low prices seem to attract a hard-partying, young crowd, don't plan on getting much sleep if you get a courtyard room. (I know I didn't.) The housekeeping hours also start at 8:30 in the morning (more noise), and since they don't have "do not disturb" signs for their doors, I was constantly jumpy that the housekeeping staff would come in before I'd left. One day they actually waited outside my door for me to leave - not exactly a relaxing experience! The service at the hotel was perfectly adequate, but not particularly friendly - they'll book you an airport shuttle, for example, but will do so unsmilingly, and will seem a little annoyed if you want more info on the city, or ask other questions. Overall - good price, great location, but I still wouldn't recommend the hotel. Look for other places in the same neighborhood! Read more

The cheap room we have booked was i bit of a shocker, so we decided to upgrade, the newly renovated part of this hotel is not bad but we had to pay 20 bucks extra a night and on the top of that you pay $25.00 a night for parking of your car, which Hotels.com don't mention add it all up ...for $ 130.00 staying 9 nights we could have […] found a much better hotel. I chose this hotel for the location to public transport and price for a 3 star hotel, from the room pictures on the web site they all looked clean and neat, they also had a cheaper option for non serviced rooms, this didn't bother us so we took that option. Upon arrival front foyer is modern and staff pleasant and accommodating. We were put in the "Court […] Yard rooms" this more aptly should be named the prison block. Our room was closer to 1 star and most of the lights didn't work and the exhaust fan in the bath room resembled a Boeing 747 taking off. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked, the TV was a 1990 48 cm CRT and if you liked watching snow it was good. Don't get me wrong I was happy to stay in this but would have preferred to know what I was getting before I got there, the price I paid was great for the location but not for the room. I would stay here again but would probably prefer on of the refurbished rooms they advertise on the web site. Read more

The staff were very pleasant however the room was a bit of a let down as the carpet was badly stained stained and the grouting in the bathroom needed redoing. Also the double bed was very small lengthways so my partners feet hung over the edge.As this was billed as a superior double room the decor and fixtures could have been better maintained.

Tarriff is worth what was charged. Hotel is right near train and tram stops so getting around is no issue. TV reception is not great but then you are in the CBD, however would expect this to change at the end of 2013 when they need to go to digital. I stayed in a budget courtyard room, which was really good value for money. It is very small and would have been a bit uncomfortable to share. I wouldn't reccomend it if you are staying for a long period of time but for a 3 night stay for business purposes it was excellent and great value for money with an excellent location.

Some part of the walls might be stained but you will find that also in your house. People who's leaving a negative feedback should think twice. Hotel room was in The Courtyard area which was very noisy due to so much surrounding concrete. However, I knew this was budget accommodation and the room was adequate and very clean. Location was close to free city tram but on my next visit to Melbourne, I would prefer to stay closer to the city centre.
