very convenient to tube; very nice neighborhood; quiet if in the back; wifi not working in rooms, and ethernet provided was very short.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was super impressed with how friendly the hotel staff was especially guest registration. As an ignorant American I booked a Double Room expecting it to be 2 beds but in UK Double means double bed not two beds. Fortunately the nice staff changed it. Thank youGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location of the hotel was very convenient, right on the bus line and less than a block from the Underground. Hotel is a little old but the service was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location but do not depend on wifi"
The hotel was in a great location. In keeping with European standards, the room was small but comfortable. The halls and elevator were narrow but again very typical for Europe. The place was very clean and tidy. Our only complaint was the wifi. They advertised free wifi but the signal was terrible. It only worked in the reception/lounge area but not […] in the room. Even in the reception area, it worked spottily because their service under-served the demand. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Best Western for 3 nights when visiting London. Good location, very close to the London Underground. Room was small, but clean. TV blurry, but did not care because we were there to sight see. Elevator slow at times, but again just a minor detail. Would stay here again if rate was less expensive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was ridiculously small... We expected small, but this was SMALL. It was pretty clean. The staff was very friendlyGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very convenient to museums, etc"
Single room.. up in 'attic' on 5th floor. Elevator only went to 4th! Room Very tiny. Sloped ceiling. High small window. Claustraphobic. Bathroom very nice...remodelled well. Wifi problems in room...to lobby. Very convenient but will not stay here in single again!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"So-so At Best"
Informed the front desk that wifi wasn't working for me - up on floor 4 -and was given an " oh well" answer and told to come down there or at the bar for a stronger signal maybe. Plus an elevator/ lift went out and they hadn't repaired it for the whole three days I was there. Probably also had an " oh well" attitude to that. This just isn't a four star […] hotel. Three maybe, four no. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The best part about the hotel is the location. Just south of Hyde Park and across the street from a tube stop. Great restaurants in the area too. The room was very small but clean. The shower was great but we had no hot water one night. The hotel staff was horrible, unhelpful and rather rude. Had they been nice and helpful I would recommend this to […] someone...but they ruined it for themselves. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Tube Station"
The room was small, but was very nice. We liked the small balcony off our room that looked out on the garden. It was really close to a tube station on the Piccadilly line, which is what we were aiming for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location and pleasent staff."
I was at this hotel for one night. I used the gym which you have to get a separate key card and sign a waver prior to using it. Room is small. But I didn't spend much time in it. It was clean and adequate for my purpose. Breakfast had a buffet of hot foods.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We'll be back"
The location is great, Hyde Park, the Vic and Al, Royal Albert Hall, Herrods, nice cafes and restaurants, all only a few minutes walk. Attentive staff. Considering London costs, it was a good deal. It would have been nice to have had openable windows, however.Genuine Expedia guest review
The location was fantastic, the room extremely small (to be somewhat expected in Europe, but still small by European standards). The worst thing was their wifi which practically did not work most of the time. Also, VERY limited tv channels and no fridge in room... All in all an ok hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a great hotel in Central London. Check in was very easy, we arrived early in the morning and the staff was able to hold our bags until we checked in later in the day. The staff was very helpful with all of our needs and questions we had regarding the city of London. This hotel is in a great location, within a five to ten minute underground (tube) […] ride to all main areas and attractions in the city. The underground station ( Gloucester RD) is very close, across the street from the hotel, We took the underground from Heathrow Airport to the underground station. The area is very nice, super market, drug store, and nice restaurants and pubs very close by which was nice to walk to. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, Very quiet at night. The rooms are on the small side like many European hotel rooms. It was just fine for my wife and I during our stay. We were out exploring most of the day and night, we mainly used the room for sleeping and showering etc. Who goes to London to sit in a hotel room? We booked the standard, or smallest room at the hotel. We will definately stay at this hotel again when returning to London. The price is great, it is in a nice, safe area, and close to all attractions in the city. I greatly recommend this hotel when staying in London and trying not to spend a fortune on a hotel. "So-So stay at Best Western Cromwell Road"
The room was very small, especially for a 4 star "AA" rated hotle and the price paid. The decor and styling were modern but the room had a musty almost moldy smell that I assume was from the lack of ventalation and possibly an air conditioning unit that was not properly drained. My luggage and clothing reaked of this smell upon departure. Luckily that […] departure was a return to home were I immediately washed and sanitzed everything. The location is OK but I think you could stay closer to the city for the price paid and probably find a larger room as well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for families, convenient location!"
Very central location - just 2 min walk from Gloucester Rd station. 2-5 min walk to Bureau de Change, pubs, popular restaurants, museums. Loved the location!! I took the underground straight to Heathrow without problems. The concierge and staff were very helpful in calling taxis for us, giving us directions and tips on local eateries...Genuine Expedia guest review
The first problem was a dangerous narrow staircase to the cellar, there was not enough room to carry your luggage beside you I had to let my luggage fall to the bottom on its own. We requested a room with two beds and got a room with one bed for myself and my adult daughter. The window did not open and it had bars on it. I would have never thought that […] somebody would try and make a motel room that small. After calling the reception we were moved to a nicer room upstairs that had two beds and enough space for our luggage if one of us put ours on the counter with the TV. This was the smallest room I've ever stayed in. On the bright side, it was clean and very close to the tube station. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, Wonderful stay"
The Cromwell was perfectly situated to all the sights and sounds of London. Walking distance to the So. "Great hotel for family or couples."
Our recent stay was very nice. The couple we were with had a much smaller room, however. The hotel staff was superb. There was a mix-up with our airport transportation when we were leaving the morning of August 30. However, this error was totally our fault, and not that of the staff, and I want to make that perfectly clear.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Choice for a Weekend Getaway in London"
As other reviewers said, the room is kind of small, but it is not unbearable. It is great for the cost and it is in a great location, so really people shouldn't be complaining. Maybe it would be cramped for a family, but for a couple it was perfect. It is right by the tube station and a good tube station at that. Several lines run through it, and you […] can go directly from Heathrow to the station at the hotel without having to transfer lines (and it only cost 2.90, but just fyi: it will take about 30/35 minutes). You are also in a good neighborhood, plus close to the museums, plus only a 10 minute direct tube ride to all the tourist sights (ie Westminster Abbey). The staff was nice and super helpful. Check in and checkout were a breeze. I'd recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel for the price"
Room was tiny, you can't open the door all the way because it would hit the bed. Bathroom was nice but small, the shower was probably the best feature of the room as it is really nice with strong water pressure. Bed was comfy but definitely not what I would consider a 4* hotel because of the room size.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice and convenient."
The room was very nice. Initially the wifi was not working, but the issue was resolved quickly. There was a problem with the airconditioning, however, that was never resolved. The location is superb. Close to the bus and underground. Nice neighborhood. Close to the Victoria and Albert Museum and walking distance to Hyde Park.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Worst Experience Ever"
We were placed in the basement of this hotel. If you like to hear the roar of traffic all through the night, then this room would be for you. The biggest problem we had was the urine smell in the bathroom that had not been cleaned in a long time. I pulled a staff member aside the request a clean, however, my family had to remain in this room and smell […] this for our stay. I stay in many hotels, and I would have thought that someone would have moved us or made an attempt in helping with this BAD ISSUE. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location - everything else, not so much."
The stay at this hotel was absolutely terrible, I will never ever stay here again. Everyone who worked there had difficulty speaking English and it was a task to communicate with them on even a basic level - check in and out was a disaster. The power went out more than once in our room while there, the internet went out and was so bad that I had to […] go to the nearby Starbucks to access my work emails! And this was not a cheap hotel stay, you would think for the price per night night they would at least have working internet! The gym was disgusting, and the housekeeping did a terrible job cleaning the bathroom. One day housekeeping came and I was still in the room, I told them I would be leaving in a half hour and the housekeeper gave me the most disgusted look and said "oh my god, another half hour?" and then sighed and just walked away. After that I called the front desk and let them know I no longer wanted housekeeping to come for the rest of my stay - who knows what she would have done to my things! Also, the elevator went out and was unavailable for the last 2 days - I had 3 suitcases that I had to walk down 4 flights of stairs when I checked out. If I was staying at a really cheap place, OK, that's fine - and yes, Best Western isn't luxury, but basic power and internet you would expect for what I paid. Trust me, stay clear of this place! There's plenty of other hotels in the area that I'm sure are MUCH better! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Miniscule freezing attic room."
Very disappointing. As a single traveler I was put in an absolutely tiny, dark attic room with a minute window in a sloping roof. I could stand on the (single) bed and touch both walls easily - the wall was 1 foot from the bed on one side, and about 1.5 feet on the sloping ceiling side. I think this is the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in, […] and I have stayed in some pretty small hotel rooms in capital cities all over Europe, so this is saying something. It was impossible to change the setting on the air conditioning from anything other than freezing, but I suppose it was good that I even had air conditioning. Lighting was poor - lamp by bedside didn't work. Internet was hopeless - signal seemed strong, but couldn't actually get to any webpages to load. Avoid at all costs if you are on business travel. Location is great, the hotel overlooks Gloucester Road tube, but I suppose that is what you are paying for. Staff were helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good hotel, small rooms"
The Cromwell is in a great loction near Hyde Park and very close to the underground. We really enjoyed our stay but for some reason I was expecting the rooms to be a little bigger. This was the last hotel we stayed at during our two week European vacation and it was one of the smaller rooms we stayed in. By they way...if you're there on Saturday or […] Sunday and want to get out the typical London scene go to the Portobello Market in Notting Hill. "Good Location, Friendly, Not sure about Value"
Staff at The Cromwell is unmistakably friendly and will go out of their way to greet, help, and service your needs. Staff kept soft drinks in their fridge for us. During my 5 nite stay, WIFI at hotel was useless, I heard other guests complain, it only worked in lobby and at speeds slower than a turtle. Room was clean, bathroom very clean, room was small […] but functional. The only minor complaint, occasionally you could hear hallway noise. At the time I booked the room, this hotel seemed to be a good value for the location. After check-in and encountering the WIFI issue, I looked for alternative local options and discovered better value. The walkup room rate at four star hotel next door, for 3 of 4 remaining nites was 28% cheaper than what I had pre-paid. All said and excluding WIFI, I left The Cromwell with a positive experience. Pro – Staff, location, clean room. Con – questionable value, hallway noise, don’t count on using WIFI Neighborhood is safe and clean, but I did witness and stop an attempted pick-pocket by a 10 year old boy. Location is great, a block from the Gloucester Road tube station and if you like to walk you are 1 mile to Harrods or Kensington Whole Foods, Kensington Palace, 2 miles to Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, <3 miles to Westminster Abbey/Big Ben or Charing Cross/Trafalgar Square, and 4.5 to St. Paul's. "Amazing Customer Service"
Well this review is a bit unusual. We booked a garden view room at this hotel, but when we went to check in they said there was a problem and they didn't have a room for us at this hotel. My first thought was that we were going to be put up at some cheap hotel, but much to my surprise they said that they booked us a room across the street at their sister […] hotel. They promptly helped my wife and I with our bags as we walked just five minutes to the hotel across the street. We were greeted there and promptly got checked into our room. This is where we were very plesed. They booked us a junior suite at a 4 star hotel and when we entered our room there was a bottle of wine from the Best Western as a small gift for the mixup and wishing us a pleasant stay in London. The room was absolutely amazing and much more expensive than the one we originally booked. I have never had a hotel go so far above what was necessary to fix a problem. It was a pleasant surprise and I will definitely stay at Best Western the Cromwell during my next trip to London. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location, location, location"
I guess that it is just the european standard of small tubs and shower facilities. There were some light fixtures not working, few towels, no washcloths, and the in-room coffee and tea provided was for one person only. One desk clerk was outstanding, the rest of the staff only average. And lastly, it would be nice to have at least one person on staff […] who speaks english as a first language. "Great staff, great location, small room."
Two things made this a great hotel, and neither had to do with the room itself. The room had problems with the AC and the shower (and it is small, but this is part of being in Europe, and we spent very little time in the room). The great things are the staff, and location. The staff took care of every problem we had the first day, while we were out. […] They even went out and bought a fan for us just for the white noise (we weren't used to the traffic noise). They also let us put our stuff in our room before check in, so we could start sightseeing right away. And you cannot beat the location. Right across the street from the underground. And best of all, this station is connected to THREE lines, one is direct to Heathrow (we rode the regular tube from the airport and saved nearly $100 on a taxi ride). Very easy to do. Plenty of places to eat nearby. All round a great experience, but don't expect a large room. There were only three of us and it was CROWDED to walk around in. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location, friendly staff, clean room."
Had a great experience at The Cromwell. Staff was very friendly and helpful... recommended a fantastic Indian restaurant when we checked in after 8pm (Memories of India, 5 minute walk around the corner on Gloucester Road). Location is perfect... central London, across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station on the Picadilly line. Can take […] the tube from Heathrow to Gloucester Road with no changes... very nice after a 10 hour flight. Room was small compared to what Americans are used to, but it served it's purpose... clean, comfy bed and a shower. If you're in London and you're doing anything more than sleeping and showering in your hotel, you should rethink your priorities. I stayed at The Cromwell on a recommendation from my brother and I have to pass that recommendation on... great place to stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"BestWestern, the Cromwell.."
Overall the hotel was very good. I knew going in the room was small and could deal with that. What was annoying was the lack of storage, the mini closet had hangers too wide for it which made it almost useless.. One drawer on thre desk and one shelf in bath.. Even in such a limited space there is a way to add storage.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were very happy to choose this hotel. ( my husband, my son and I). The tube is across the street, coffee and restaurants are very close to the hotel, also the museums. Very nice neigbourhood.
