The staff were all extremely nice and all spoke good English. The advertisements about the hotel, however were misleading: The roof-top pool was not much larger than a bathtub and had 4 lounge chairs. The rooftop bar was very small and had only 4 bar stools. The "fitness center" was, I believe a converted closet, with one treadmill and a small set of […] hand weights crowded into a space only large enough for one person at a time. The dining room serving breakfast was very good, We were told that breakfast was included in our room rate, and we were assured of this at check-in and at each of the 3 mornings we had breakfast. But on checkout, we were charged US$24.00 for each breakfast. After discussions, they took it off our bill. However, 3 days after we checked out, they billed the credit card for these breakfasts! Visa is involved in crediting these charges. I was surprised that they would do such an underhanded thing. The room was lovely with a great view down Ipanema Beach. Read more

Hotel needs updating, lobby, elevators, room. I stayed on a standard room and the room is very dated. The location however is fantastic, could not be better, beachfront in the upscale Leblon neighborhood.

The location is magnificent on Leblon Beach. However the hotel needs millions of $ invested to bring into this century. The lifts are old, slow and often do not work. The rooms are tired and old, though they are clean. Internet access is dreadful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel is in a great neighborhood, but the staff is rude and the service was terrible. They even neglected to pick up my room service breakfast order from my hotel door overnight and didn't seemed the least bit concerned about it. Rio is notorious for bad service, but this was terrible for for the high cost..

QUITE A NICE HOTEL IN IGUAZU BUT HOUSEKEEPING STAFF ARE LACKING IN A "BIG" WAY. THEY MADE BEDS AND DID NOTHING MORE. NO TOWELS OR TOILETRIES WERE REPLACED AND ROOM WAS NOT VACUUMED. HOWEVER, WELL LOCATED AND WOULD RECOMMEND.

Great location on the beach in a safe neighborhood. Breakfast was better than average for Brazilian hotels. The beds are very hard. The Internet connection is dodgy on a good day, and not very fast. Overall a good hotel if you do not have work to do and I would definitely, 100% stay there for a vacation/holiday.

Amenities are kind of "small". The gym had only 2 machines. The pool is smaller than my friends backyard pool. But the breakfast was great. The hotel is very well located in front of the beach and in the middle of the Leblon Neighborhood, very peaceful. But the noise insulation from the street could be better. Sore point. Depressing, spartane room, although we upgraded to executive. No balcony, impossible to open windows. Toilet malfunctioned, water leakage on floor. Good breakfast. Friendly floor staff and room service, unfriendly receptionistst (they made it sound difficult to get us a normal taxi, wanted to sell us the overpriced hotel taxi). Unimpressive common areas […] for the price. Boring neighborhood, it's far to walk to the restaurants and shopping. There are so many hookers residing with their sugar daddies in this hotel, that my legitimate, black girlfriend was automatically considered to be a hooker too. She was asked for ID in order to enter the hotel (although we already had gotten 2 keys), and she was oogled up and down. Oogling stopped when she changed her skirt for a long dress. We ordered a room service breakfast that turned out to cost 117 reais, they gave us double of everything, although it was not ordered. No refund possible. Minibar was not filled on every maid service. Internet in the room is crazy expensive, especially if you want decent speed, slowest package can't open a basic page with images, working was difficult. I was generally very disappointed with this hotel, I have stayed at better but cheaper hotels in Rio before. I'd pick central Ipanema or even Copacabana anytime. If you're allergic to perfumes, be aware that this hotel uses a lot of aromatizing products when cleaning your room. Read more

The hotel is in a good location. Close to everything. However, the rooms are very old. the bathtub and other bathroom fixtures are chipped and faded. There is no varioity of TV Channels. Right on the beach and in a lovely leafy neighborhod - great choice for your visit. Don't plan to arrive early and get your room. The hotel is almost always sold out. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They culd attend to guests in English or Portuguese and helped with arrangements both within the hotel and throughout the city.

Spent five days in Rio at the Marina Palace Hotel, and was quite satisfied will the accommodations that were provided. We actually had multiple reservations from two different systems because of price. The front office was very accommodating us in upgrading us to a refurnished room on the 20th floor with a nice corner view of Ipanema beach. Overall […] the room was very clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water, room safe, and new LCD TV. The room actually had three twin beds, and they were kind enough to group two of the beds together so overall the room had plenty of space. Although the weather wasn’t ideal the days we were there, but the beach staff provided us chairs and umbrellas without any problems. The breakfast buffet was good nice view. The pool is really quite small more just to soak, but a nice view from the top. The surrounding area was very safe with plenty of restaurants and stores. Read more

This is the first time I travel to Rio on vacation, rather than business. From the very entrance one can figure out how poor the hotel accommodations must be. Where else can you see a poor suburb basement-style bar with white painted vertical slabs of wood? The room was hands down the worst hotel or motel I have seen in my life (in ANY price range). […] In addition to the room being extremely tired and having a cracked ceiling, the furniture is really difficult to describe in terms of low quality and poor aging. If you are seeking dead bugs (at least I hope that's what it was, rather than rodent excrement) you can find a plentiful collection in between the windows on the 22nd floor. The bathroom: 3 long vertical cracks in the sheetrock facing the "walls" around the tub, as the sheets never fully touch, spaced apart wood stick ceiling through which one can see the electrical wires and pipes, and finally the electric wires of the refrigerator, whose full back could be admired from under the sink! You can imagine the speed at which we were forced to take showers because we were really concerned of electrocution. Breakfast: good fruit, coffee and pastry; poor juices, eggs, cold cuts and cheese. Dinner - we didn't dare. They have some sort of wood painted porch reminiscent of some poor mountain resort from the 50s. If I need to pay top dollar, I will pay it in a decent place. Read more
