Philippe Starck, a legend of modern design, created the original look for the Royalton's guestrooms. The hotel's 2007 revamp includes updated decor by Charlotte Macaux, a Starck protégée. Snuggle beneath the plump down duvet and watch your favorite HBO show on the flat-panel HDTV. Your room is also equipped with an iPad, complimentary for use during your stay. Wireless Internet access is available for a surcharge. Luxurious bathrooms include plush bathrobes, MALIN+GOETZ bath amenities, and either slate-and-glass showers or circular soaking tubs. No complaints about the Hotel or Staff. There is a nice 24 hr Deli across the road. Room was about what I expected for the price. The imediate neighborhood was a bit dirty but I felt safe enough. I wouldn't recomend it for families with young kids. I would stay there again. It's a bit old school but that was kid of cool too. I do Love NY.

The Hotel was not the best I have stayed at but it was quite I will say the Staff made the stay an enjoyable one. I will return for sure and will recommend others.

The hotel deserves it's 4 stars. It is very nice, modern, clean and perfectly located in midtown Manhattan. The rooms are very comfortable, and the showers are amazing. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The only issues we had were the elevators being extremely slow, but they did leave a note in the room saying they were working on improving that, […] so that shouldn't be an issue in the future. Also, it would have been nice to have a coffee machine in the room. Most hotels have these and provide complimentary coffee to their guests. Other than those two minor things, the hotel was great. "very posh"
It was like walking into a ultra posh club/restuarant and then being able to go to your room when your done. Really special and gorgeous room. Very roomy for the city. Would reccommend to anyone.

The Royalton is a decent option for accommodation in Midtown. Pretty close to everything you need, with Grand Central and Bryan Park subways within easy walking distance. We stayed for a weekend in Jan 2012 and the hotel condition and room were both fine. The bed was not too comfortable (rock hard, actually) and the room, like most NYC rooms, wasn't […] very big but for us it was fine since we spent most of our time outside. It was noisy outside in the street in the early hours of the morning which affected our sleep a little but for two nights we could deal with it., Overall this hotel is OK. Not my first choice in Midtown, but if nothing else is available and the rate is good, this hotel is a viable option. Read more

The hotel was beautiful. The rooms so clean and modern. The location could not have been better. Definitly a spot near everything. Rooom service was quick and delicious.Definitly recommend to others who want to be within walking distance of just about everything Christmas cool in NYC.

"Royalton"
It was the first time I have stayed there and I was not expecting much after having to pull my own luggage up the front steps and navigate a noisy lobby to find registration. However, I ended up very impressed. My room was beautiful and well laid out. Room service dinner came immediately and was delicious. All at a fair price.

Unlike most NYC hotels, the hip Royalton experience continued from the lobby to the actual room. Very functional and spacious with Apple iPad and comfy bed.

"Everything we wanted"

"Great location and service"
The hotel is located in an ideal location only a couple of minutes walk away from Times Square and 5th Avenue. The hotel staff are all very friendly and willing to help if required. Definately would recommend the hotel. :D

"Lovely hotel great location"
I had only one problem with the hotel and that is the picture on hotels.com showed a big red door when I arrived there was no big red door there was a big door but it was black other than that it was one of the best hotels I ever stayed at oh one more thing itbwas a bit pricey so be prepared to spend some money (giggles)
"Royalton in New York City"
The hotel was very good. Nice atmosphere and great location. Unfortunately, the rooms were a bit small and the air condition units were particularly noisy. The lifts were somewhat unreliable. Finally the bar at the hotel is a bit pricey (particularly the beer).

Only one word can describe this hotel immaculate. The hotel was spotless,well-designed and in a great location. The room was extremely well designed and comfortable not to mention clean. "Royalton"
I've stayed at this hotel before and it seems like it is in need of a makeover. It's still a great hotel with a great lobby/bar. However, carpets are fading and it doesn't look as clean and edgy as it used to. Overall though everyone was very friendly at the hotel and it's in a prime location for getting around to some of the major NYC attractions.

The Royalton greets you with unassuming front door that automatically opens into a cosmopolitan lobby and bar lounge. The staff was helpful and the rooms are nicely appointed. It's quite expensive, but the location in midtown really cannot be beat. Our room, with queen bed was modern and sleek, but with annoying bathroom features, such as no bath, limited […] counter space, a weird place for the facial soap and poor lighting. But the shower was great and spacious. Also, it does annoy me that there is no refrigerator space for your own beverages and that you have to call down for ice and there's no self-serve ice option. My final complaint are the elevators: slow, small and sterile in lighting and design. However, we did enjoy our stay, as the beds were comfortable, the TV and iPad were nice touches and the bar made you feel like you were in a cool NYC locale - which we were. Read more
Had stayed here many times. Great hotel. Great location. New room color was disappointing (preferred the white before) but room continues to be very nice. Speedy of response from staff, on a couple of quick requests, was less than optimal. But friendliness and overall service were good. Recommend.

Great location. Modern, techy. Do not take comfort room, it includes a "mirror cabinet" which eats the room size not really addid value. Restourant and bar are overpriced. Barkeepers are losing interest to you if you are after a bier only.

The lobby / lounge area is excellent. Always people enjoying the trendy atmosphere. The elevator and hallways are very narrow. The hallway smelled of smoke. My room had a view of a fire escape. The rooms are small, the bed is hard and there is only a shower (no bath). The room was clean and the hotel is very near 5th Avenue shopping and Broadway. Excellent […] location and if you just need a clean, convenient place to sleep while you party...you will love this place! "Royalton is a great location for a stay in NY city"
The Royalton is located in smack-center Manhattan, close to everything. This is my favorite location for a sty in Midtown. The service is excellent and the rooms are very nice.
Very swanky! Perfect for a 15 year wedding anniversary. Might just be a little too cool for us in coming years. Lobby was awesome. Rooms, small but cute--felt a little like a cruise ship. Air condition/heating system loud and sometimes made a loud thumping noise. Central to everything.

"Great location, subdued atmosphere"
The hotel is in a great location and is a good value. It's very modern, with an iPad in every room. The entire first floor is a bar/lounge area with fireplaces and couches. Very nice. Rooms are smallish, which is typical for NYC. The biggest negative is the low lighting in the bathroom.

We stayed for business but location is fantastic for tourists. Our quiet room was very spacious and filled with latest technology. Only complaint was the lighting in the bathroom -- not good for ladies applying make up unless they are dressing for a night out in a dim setting.Oh but I also think you shouldn't have to pay an additional fee for internet […] connection - but here you do. The fitness center is adequate but not special. The lobby bar is a fun place for a cocktail. Check out was a little bit hard as there are only two stations and both were busy as we left. The Royalton is on Wesgt 44th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, a street filled with small, characterful luxury hotels. It is diagonally opposite the famous Algonquin Hotel, and just two blocks from Times Square attractions, the subway and Grand Central Terminal. It was particularly nice/impressive to bring a date back for a cocktail. The lobby is […] long dark and narrow and during winter has a very cool jet-flame fireplace dividing one half of the area and keeping guests warm who, most of them, it must be said, pride themselves on being cool. Everyone on the staff was fabulous and very helpful. The restaurant staff, front desk staff and the front desk staff were all great. I would stay here again in a minute. Great location. It was just a great time.
There was no ability to get any food on arrival, there was a complete lack of initiative or service offering that one should expect from any hotel, let alone a hotel of the reputed quality and reputation of The Royalton; a 4-star hotel in the heart of New York. The experience was a poor one all round. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone nor would […] I stay here ever again. We choose our hotels based on comfort, quality of service and friendliness or staff. We pay good money in the hope that we at least get partially satisfied against this criteria. "Fun, Trendy and Spectacular!"
Spectacular! This hotel is hip, trendy, and the epitome of a boutique hotel in NYC. The level of friendliness and accommodation from the staff is exceptional and I would recommend this hotel any day of week. The lobby turns into a club at night (starts getting club-like at 5:00), complete with very loud music, lots of beautiful people, and flowing drinks […] throughout, so be preparred for that. If you're looking for a traditional bright and quiet lobby with people sporadically scattered, this is not it. This is a true NYC hot spot! The location is perfectly convenient to everything in Midtown, you can walk everywhere! "Clean, updated, friendly staff"
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby is decorated very nicely and has a fun fashion forward vibe to it. Don't order a beer at the bar unless you're on a company tab, though, because they're $10 or more each!

There is so little I'd be able to complain about here. Room was wonderful. Bathroom great, and bed was super comfortable. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. A big thank you to the people at the Royalton for making our stay in NYC so pleasant!

A very stylish and welcomingly unusual hotel. We had a loft suite which was spacious and very comfortable. We didn't eat at the hotel as there were many excellent restaurants close and less expensive. Well positioned in Mid town near to Times Square.

Located on 44th West St between 5th and 6th Avenues this hotel is on one of the quieter streets of New York yet only 5 minutes from Times Square and Grand Central Station. The rooms are clean and of a reasonable size (bigger than our bedroom at home) and well furnished with comfortable beds. The bathrooms have small sinks but any shortcomings are outweighed […] by the enormous walk in showers. The bar areas and reception is very dark (part of the boutique effect). The service from the staff is excellent. Opposite the hotel is a traditional American diner where breakfast is a third of the cost of that in the hotel. There are hundreds of restaurants with a 10 minute walk. If offered a limo when you get to the airport take it if $60 to $70 this is more than the fixed yellow taxi fare of $45 but far more comfortable. New York taxis leave a lot to be desired. Read more
