Pros: In an excellent location for sight seeing. It is a very short walk from Brignole train station and the airport shuttle bus. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We were given a generous 2pm check-out upon request. Complimentary snacks at the bar our first night. Very nice shower head. Our room was cleaned every day despite our staying in it […] until mid-afternoon. Cons: The room was quite small. The bathtub was very small and only had a small partition which meant shower water sprayed all over the bathroom. The sink leaked on to the floor. It is an old TV with only two English channels (news). Our IPAD would not connect anywhere in the hotel and the one computer in the lobby was painfully slow. Read more

Excellent location for restaurants and shopping, pharmacies, etc. Easy to find on GPS. Excellent service, breakfast, cleanliness and it was a historic type of hotel so you had some great ambience.

We walked from the train station, which took us 20 minutes. But when we saw our room it was worth the walk. The room was huge with a very large living area and a huge bathroom. Very clean and very much worth the price. By far the best hotel of our 15 day Europe tour. Great breakfast too.

The hotel lobby is absolutely stunning! It was easy to find. We had a car, and was thrilled that the hotel parked the car for us in an off site lot. It saved us the inconvenience and stress of driving around and finding the lot ourselves. When we needed the car to take a day trip they only required a 15 minute notice and had the car waiting for us out […] front. This was much appreciated! The hotel was convenient to old town and the aquarium-which should not be missed. Breakfast was a generous spread with lots of choices. If you need an Internet connection, the Bristol may not be for you. According to other guests, the Internet was unreliable. It never worked for me and when I tried to talk to the hotel about it, the staff were difficult. The assistant manager would not let me finish a sentence and was very rude. A smile or "I am sorry for the inconvenience" would have […] gone a long way, but I had neither at the Bristol. The Bristol Palace Hotel is in a great part of Genoa. It is conveniently located to visit many of the main attractions. It's also near a Metro station in case you need to move about by subway. This hotel is very beautiful. Yes, it is older as some have mentioned, but it is a great value. It is one of the nicer hotels I have stayed in in Italy. The staff was very friendly helping my friend with some minor first aid issues. It is in a nice location, very close to the beautiful fountain. About a 10 minute taxi ride from the train station.

It was a nice hotel for a business trip, nice condition and convienient. Great small bar and breakfast, clean and european. I wouldn't stay here on a vacation or want to stay in room much. The bathroom was new and elegant but the street was noisey, the room small, and no way to darken the room except wooden shutters that didn't close all the way.

Beautiful hotel. This was our first stop on our 10 day trip to Italy and France and it turned out to be one of the best. The Bristol must have been a stunning hotel in its heyday. It is tucked in among retail space in the architecturally stunning arcade that runs along Via XX Settembre. Even the terrazzo sidewalks outside are lovely. Inside is a high-ceiling lobby and a beautiful oval spiral staircase with marble steps that curves up six flights to a stained-glass skylight. […] The service, however, was dismal. No one offered to help with our luggage when we arrived late in the evening. One staff member, noting the struggles of my petite female travel companion with her heavy bag, asked if she needed help, and then obliged by pointing the direction of her room and walking away! Telephone service using the room phone for local calls was generally unsuccessful, and don't expect the staff to help you make any calls or reservations. My room was nicely proportioned with a high celing and tall windows, and the bathroom was recently renovated, but the decor was a drab mishmash of a cheap-looking bedspread and upholstered headboard, cheap-looking light fixtures, some nice throw rugs from Azerbyghan and a serviceable Deco-style wardrobe, presumably from better days. The location is a conventient walk to Via Garibaldi. Read more

To preface this, I travel quite a bit for both business and pleasure. This hotel is situated on the main drag of Genova and is extremely noisy. The hotel management is oblivious to complaints and has an attitude that guests should be honored to stay at the "palace". As an example, one morning the water from the bathroom sink began to foam. When I called […] to complain they said "there is a slight problem with the water filtration system". When I asked if it was drinkable the response was "I think so". How long was this to last? "I don't know". This was typical of the attitude I encountered at the "Palace". This may have been a good hotel in earlier years but is obviously living on its old reputation. As a businessman travelling worldwide but also extensively throughout Europe and in particular Italy, I would really question why this hotel is rated as a four star. Other than the location and its architectural herirage the hotel is somewhat lacking. The breakfast was OK but the selection no better or worse than other hotels with the same rating. The bar was small and the barman who spoke very good English just didn't want to talk ( maybe it was me) spent most of the time in the back cooking and eating his own evening meal.
