"Friday the 13th at Marriott Southfield"

"Worst hotel visit"
I've stayed at a few hotels: Aria in Vegas, Motorcity in Detroit, The Phoenician in Scottsdale, to the Hyatt, the Westin, to a Motel freaking 6. My stay at the Detroit Southfield Marriott was the worst service ever. 1st night - TV was getting no reception on certain channels, & the A/C didn't work. We got moved to another room. 2nd day we left the hotel […] at 10am and came back art 7pm and our room was NEVER cleaned in the 9 hours we were gone! We called the front desk to send housekeeping up ASAP and we kindly offered to go downstairs to get out of the way. When got downstairs & told the front desk we wanted our room cleaned quickly since they had a whole work day to do it, & we went to the bar. 35 minutes later we went back upstairs, & NOTHING was done! Livid, we demanded housekeeping and a manager come up. Apparently, the AM housekeeper checked off that our room was cleaned so the PM housekeeper thought it was done. Ok, I guess that says why it wasn't done that morning, but what about the 35 minutes in which we called and sat at the bar?!? PURE LAZINESS. There's absolutely no work structure/work ethic at this hotel. People make calls on walkies to a "department" and someone says, "ok" but NO ONE does the work. Elshon and Sharon helped with compensation for our horrible stay but I'm seriously thinking that the housekeeping staff needs to be fired. "not the best"
When we arrived to stay for the weekend the front desk staff ignored me standing there as they talked to each other for at least 5 minutes. Then as I checked in they told me I had to pay a 75$ deposit which ticked me off considering it doesn't say that on here. Anyway that night we went to check out the swimming pool and hot tub. There was a sign posted […] "no one under 18 after 9pm." When walked in there at 915pm there were tons of kids and their parents in there. It was okay at first because they didn't bother us...until we got in the hot tub. They were jumping in and out of the hot tub and their parents did nothing then the parents(if you want to call them that) came over and starting grabbing the kids very roughly and they started screaming bloody murder and crying. Then the parents started fighting with each other. Finally the hotel staff came in and told them they needed to leave. As we got out to leave I noticed that my hot pink swimsuit now had dark purple stains on it. Come to find out their hot tub was broken but had no sign and there were other people in it as well. We went to tell the front desk and they were prepared to do nothing so we demanded to speak to a manager who at first only offered us breakfast(worth 9$ my swimsuit cost 50$) so they gave us free dinner at their restaurant. "Nice family friendly hotel, close to express way."
I had a very nice experience . The power went out so there was no air conditioner . That was an act of nature. They had no control over that incident. The manager made his presence known. Hotel always seem to have a family reunion or wedding going on when I stay. This just makes it a lot of fun if you go down to the bar or pool area. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I generally always stay at this location when visiting Detroit. It's a 15 minute drive to the city, close to numerous stores, outlets, malls and eateries. The hotel never disappoints in cleanliness.
