Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"good location, old rooms"

I was several times in this hotel last years, every time was very good warm buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi works perfect everywhere, small fridge in the room, but room is pretty old, only a single plug in the room for charging........Reception stuff very kind, under garage (not for very wide car) available for 15eur per day, just aks on reception for open garage on check in.
"Great price and placement"

Very close to Wien Westbahnhof and the underground. Large room, big bathroom, very clean. The furniture is not new but everything was clean. The reception staff was friendly and made it possible for us to have early check in. We didn't try anything from the food. I can say it was cheap compared to other hotels close to the train station.

We loved our stay in Vienna and this hotel was perfect. Very affordable, lovely staff who also went out of their way to do our washing for us and great location 5 minute walk from the Westbahnhof. The wifi was excellent and the room and beds very comfortable. It's in a quiet area and very good facilities. We extended our stay and enjoyed leaving our car in the secure parking so we could see Vienna by train and foot.
"STAY AWAY !!!!"

It's difficult to see how this hotel could be refurbished without being completely gutted to the walls and starting from fresh. I stayed here through a tour operator, which billed it as a "Category A"/Four Star hotel. In fact, that description could not be further from the truth. In fairness to the tour operator, they rectified the situation after being advised of the conditions. Here is a listing of the problems: - The carpet is filthy/stained to the point of not wanting to walk bare foot on it. - The room "safe" is so small that no electronic devices can fit - The "clock radio" is so old that we thought it was a retro radio .... NOT SO. IT IS THE ORIGINAL RADIO so the clock DOES NOT work. - The "bar fridge" is just an empty fridge. - The tv reception is very poor AND the remote control doesn't work. - The shower (tub) requires a step ladder to get into/out of. On the POSITIVE SIDE, the bed is very comfortable & the Wi-Fi in the room is great (which you'll need to book another hotel)

Hotel has a nice location, close to the Westbahnhof and U-Bahn (Metro). You can also easily walk to the city center over the Museum Quarter (takes approximately 15 min). Prices are pretty good for this area and for the service provided.
"Walk away from Vienna West main station- and value for money"

As a family of three, we booked this hotel, and were impressed by the space it offered. Situated in a busy area, it's good for shopping trips every now and then. The keycard they offer may take a little getting used to, but otherwise, the whole experience is user-friendly. The breakfast at the lobby is delicious and filling, and offers plenty of options for everyone. The only negative, if any, is that some mobile phone users won't have the charger that fits their phone (like a hotel in the pricey central area of Paris did, for us), but otherwise, it's worth staying here again.
"Could do better"
I would agree with most of the previous reviews for this hotel. It has free wifi, big rooms and a bath in bathroom. There is potential for this place to be very good given it's claimed 'retro' approach but it is let down by very shabby and stained furnishings, non-working lights, phone and appliances and, most importantly, the less than polite attitude of one of the staff. This man was defensive and argumentative in response to genuinely polite enquiries about the hotel amenities. The other staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was only passable - not as good as I found from other hotels offering same breakfast arrangement. Others guests may however have not minded the negatives I identified.
"Budget Hotel, Needs refurbishment"

The hotel is located at walking distance from the main train station (Wien Westbahnhof) on a quiet street. Both the room and washroom were big. However, the hotel appeared to be a bit ill-maintained, as we could see from the quality of floor, lift and corridor. However, no complaints for the price - and in a city like Vienna, you would hardly stay in the hotel!
"Totally outdated but clean."

We booked this hotel because it was near the Westbonhauf and it was the only hotel with availability. The "executive room" which included a "private roof terrance" was the only room available so we took it. Thought a roof terrace would be cool. When we checked in for 3 nights, the clerk told us that we might want to prepay as Monday, our departure day, was typically very busy and we should anticipate a long wait while guests checked out. Against our better judgement, we did pre-pay then went up to the room. OMG. The so called "private terrace" was a gravel roof area shared by the 3 or 4 rooms other rooms on the 7th floor so when you walked out onto the terrace if the drapes were not pulled, you could easily look into other rooms. Also there was nothing to prevent you from walking the length of the terrace thus denying others of their privacy if you so desired. As a result, instead of being able to open the drapes in the morning while you are getting ready to go out, drapes have to remain fully closed which was quite disagreeable as lighting is very poor. We looked out once and saw the next door neighbor on the terrace smoking. The entire room is outdated in function, color, materials -- green laminate countertops, one purple wall, deep red floor to ceiling drapes - UGH. On the positive side, except for scamming us on the prepay, (there was no one waiting to check out on Monday when we departed) the staff is pleasant, the room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, the price was good and the room was very clean. If you stay there, do not stay on the 7th floor in a room with the alleged "private terrace" as it's not private and costs more than a standard room. Location was within walking distance of the Westbanhoff. I probably wouldn't stay here again because I enjoy looking out over the city at night and seeing the sun in the morning - something I couldn't do here. Pictures of "private terrace" and room attached.
"Awful experience in Vienna"
My review has nothing to do with technical characteristics of the hotel, cleanliness of the rooms, or location. All is fine. Rooms good and clean. Breakfast full and tasty. WiFi working properly. One small thing what was awful is Staff. They were not hospitable, unwelcome, ignorant including "the boss", not helpful, not nice, not polite, not human. First they didn't inform us upon arrival about the keys - KEY (plastic one time thing you use to open your door) is very important! If you loose it somehow somewhere (as it usually happens while shopping) upon arrival to the hotel you have to pay 3.50 eur for a new key to your room! Pay. For plastic. In the middle of the night. I had a huge difficulty with prolonging my room for one more night. ït is not possible they said. We can't change the dates in the program you must change a room which is free till the date you need. It didn't bother them to make a guest move to a room NEXT DOOR instead of changing the dates in Opera hotel program. Absolutely rudeness when a reception woman told me what a "haemorrhoids ' it is to change the dates. This is outrageous. I would never ever stay in this place again and do not advise other people. The old staff need proper training and strict supervision. Enjoy Vienna.
