"Hotel Holiday Inn Munich-posizione comoda"
"Relocated from the Leonardo Hotel & Residenz, and not happy."
10/22/14 eleonor Canberra, ACT, Australia
We were booked in to stay at the Leonardo Hotel and Residenz in Munich, and when we walked out of the Metro station and could see the hotel from the metro we were very happy. What a great location! But when we went to check in we were told that they were over-booked and we would be moved out to another of their properties, apparently a "better one". Well, what felt like a 45 minute taxi ride, we realised that while the hotel might be "better", the location was a lot worse. It is in the middle of suburbia and not very close to a metro station. The metro was a 15-20 minute walk away through a bit of traffic, and there were no restaurants nearby at all that we could see - just a heap of apartment buildings. We were very disappointed by this, especially as we were travelling around Europe on trains. The night before we checked out we asked if they could assist us in getting to the Metro or train station the next day, since walking 20 minutes with our bags, first thing in the morning, isn't what we had planned (we had carefully booked our accommodation thinking about getting to and from train stations). The manager at reception was very unhelpful, saying that it was only 1km to the metro, not 20 minutes (once you factor in stopping at traffic lights, it can take you longer to walk 1km than normal), and that they wouldn't offer us a taxi. But they could transfer us back to the original hotel (at 9.30pm at night - with a 5am start the next morning - we declined that offer). So I would not recommend that anyone stay with this hotel chain at all. They also don't offer free WiFi!!

This is a fairly small hotel and not really near anything of note within walking distance so far as I can tell Thats ok for a business trip though to Unterfohring, a few miles away The room was fairly small with twin beds but clean and comfortable, and quiet too The restaurant inside the hotel is a bit quirky, walls and ceilings all pine cladded so has the look of a chalet about it, but the food and service was good If I were looking fro somewhere for a leisure trip to Munich then I wouldnt stay here because of its not being close to the centre, or any other amentities, but for a business trip of only a few days, it was a good choice and reasonably priced
"Tired and an unclean bathroom"
09/24/14 Hugo R London, United Kingdom
Room rates during Oktoberfest are notoriously expensive however €234 per night for this hotel was stretching it. My room (albeit opposite the lift) was noisy but it was the staining in the bathroom that I found offensive. Staff were charming and breakfast was excellent though.
"Unlike most of the reviews, it s very good, here s some help"

Well I was in for a conference at the Messe, I read the reviews before and I was worried. But the check in took 30 seconds, free WiFi, the room was very nice, reasonably big, very comfortable. The breakfast was ok, the underground is a good 15 minutes walk but you can take bus 187 right at the hotel and it takes you in 7 minutes to Arabella Park U station but last bus at night is at 8.44 pm. The walk is not bad , never felt threatened at 11 or 12 pm. Area is nice, calm, park behind if u fancy some walk. Car park is 13 €/day but u can park free in the street .I would not mind coming back.
"An ok hotel for a short stay"

Stayed here for 3 nights, not our choice it was booked for us . Some but not all friendly staff, the young girl serving in the bar was very miserable and slow to serve drinks. This hotel in need of a revamp very dated rooms although clean on arrival, the room cleaners need to pay a lot more attention when cleaning used cups, fridges didn't work in any of our rooms. Comfy beds but for some reason we all had problems sleeping on all 3 nights. Plenty of choice for breakfast. This hotel is not in the best of locations, good job there was a petrol station next door. Don't think I would go back or recommend to others.
"Could be significantly better"
05/25/14 Treppenwitz Texas
Stayed here on business so I didn't get a choice in the matter. Based on the pricing and competition I would not choose to stay here. That's not because it's terrible (it isn't), but because there are better options available elsewhere for similar prices. The internet was comically slow and room service was of fairly low quality. I don't normally get room service but I was so tired and hungry I splashed out, and regretted it once the food arrived. The staff are great, the rooms are pretty comfortable and there's working air conditioning, but overall there are better places to stay unless you absolutely have to be in this neighborhood. I can see why Holiday Inn pulled out, put it that way. Train-wise it's 15 minutes walk to the nearest station. There are bus stops closer by but of course that takes longer to get into the city.
"Not a great location; great breakfast"

As a family of four adults travelling together, we had booked two rooms for 3 nights. Having arrived in Munich in our rental car, we were confused when following the GPS to pull up at a Leonardo Hotel, our booking was for a Holiday Inn. At the time of our stay there had been no information sent to us about the rebrand nor had their website changed with the update. The Reception staff were friendly and helpful; but nothing above their call of duty. Parking and wifi were at an extra cost. After arriving in the late evening, we resigned ourselves to the fact that since the closest train station was a 15 minute walk away (not what we had expected) and a further 10 minutes would be needed to get into the city, we would have to eat at the hotel restaurant. We were completely ignored by three staff when we walked in, had to sit at a dirty table full of glasses and plates from those before us. We sat there for over 15 minutes, without anything more than a dismissive wave from staff as they seemed to continually go into the kitchen for long periods of time. A couple who walked in after us were attending to first, before finally we were given menus. The choices were extremely limited and came at a very high cost. Another 10 minutes and still without an apology or explanation, we ordered and received our meals which were no more than average. The rooms were good, fair sized with a good bathroom and shower.
"cigarette smoke on the corridor, super slow internet"
04/28/14 Martzee Munich, Germany
Sorry to say but for the same amount of money I have stayed in much well equipped and better smelling hotels. Internet is super slow. Cigarett smoke on the corridor is really disappointing. Hotel really needs modernization! :) Anyways, it's clean with small rooms.
"In need of modernization!"
If you are looking for a nice place to stay during a tourist visit to Munich, this is NOT the place. In desperate need of modernization and updating this hotel is old, set back amongst trees and difficult to find if you do not have a car or a navigation system. Public transport is a bus and the hotel is located almost out of the city. The entire hotel smells of cigarette smoke even though it is a non-smoking hotel. Perhaps it is from the guest, staff or maid service but it still smells and is a bother if you are smoke sensitive. Rooms are somewhat clean but old. Bathroom tiles are stained with old mold set in cracked tiles and gout. Carpets are stained in rooms and in the hallways. Internet is terrible as it is very slow to connect and expensive. Not worth paying the price for such terrible connection and speed. Staff is friendly and open to trying to accommodate special wishes. Breakfast was a very large spread with quality food. Parking is expensive for the location and is covered yet set apart from the hotel. If bad weather you will get wet just having to walk from the garage to the hotel. This hotel is mostly for large tour bus groups and people passing through on business or workshops at the hotel. Rack rate is listed at Euro 379 per night. NEVER pay this as this hotel is not worth more than 150 Euro per night.
"A hotel with pluses and minuses!"
01/18/14 Georgios1974 Nicosia, Cyprus
Stayed for a week late December 2013-January 2014. Initial room allocation for 2 people, small by way of room and bed sizes, as well as wood furniture that made it look outdated. Asked to change the room and it was politely effected from the second day via an upgrade at no extra charge. New room even exceeded expectations. Moving on, excellent breakfast and by way of quality and by way of always been quiet with not a lot of guests. The hotel's location has issues. The distance from Marienplatz and its surrounding area is 15' by taxi and comes at €18 one way. Getting there by metro involves walking since there is no station really near the hotel. The petrol station's mini market immediately next to the hotel, saves the day when it comes to needing to buy water or coffee or something outside the hotel premises. Polite staff at all times, ready to assist. Overall, i cant say this is a bad hotel to stay. Like the title of the review says, my personal opinion is that the hotel has serious pluses and serious minuses which primarily relate to location as mentioned above.
