Ok, 1st of all, I seriously do NOT write reviews, but I TOTALLY feel this time it's worth it. I stayed at this hotel Jan 25-27, and was in San Antonio for a friends wedding, so I wanted to make sure I made the most my stay. The room was very relaxing. The staff was INCREDIBLE!!! I was Pleasantly surprised when I called down for a cab before meeting friends (both nights), and the front desk transfered me to the valet to be driven to my destinations, AND they were even available to bring me back to the hotel. The hotel overall was very nice, beds were comfortable room clean! We liked the fact that this hotel is not right on the riverwalk, but not far from it , well within walking distance. However, the Hotel staff mislead us into believing that our rooms would have balcony's! When in truth, none of the rooms on the second floor have actual balcony's they […] are just sliding doors that open to an railing balcony look-a-like we were bummed. As it turned out we were hardly there long enough to have even enjoyed one. But if you stay here make sure you specify a room with a balcony, and a view of the pool area very pretty. "Do not waste your time or money here"
The stay was bad from the beginning. I pull up to valet and let the valet know I will need to check in. She tells me that it will be 29 a night or 20 cash if I don't tell anyone. I tell her no thanks as I like to keep things on the up and up. Not a good first impression to say the least. Go to the room and pull back the covers (checking for bedbugs) […] and there is blood on the coverlet. It did look like old blood that had been washed but no one wants to see that. "Valet Parking Attendant MIA- Not worth $30 night"
This is one of our favorite places to stay during the summer months when we visit the San ANtonio area. We are generally quite pleased but this past experience was a disappointment. Our main complaint is with the valet, or lack of. We opted for the $30 a night valet parking but every time we went to get our car, the valet person was MIA. We would wait […] for 10 min or so expecting someone to come but nothing. On at least 3 occasions on our two night stay, we had to go find someone at the front desk to find our keys and go get our car. We stayed there over the labor day holiday and both times were fairly early in the evening at about 5:30 and 7:30 pm. Same thing happened when we returned later in the evening. No one was available so we had to park our own car and then leave the keys at the front. The front desk clerk told us that the valet person was out picking up a guest from a restaurant. If the hotel is going to charge $30 for valet, they need to have enough coverage for these things. Aside from this annoying problem with parking, our stay was great. The cleanliness of the property was disappointing. The pool area was dirty and the pool was disgusting--looked like it had not been cleaned in a long while. Everything was great except for parking. we paid $23.00 separately for parking only to find gate wide open to public and parking lot full upon our return for the evening. Staff offered to park my vehicle for me because it would have to be parked in the lot illegally, however could not answer my question as to who would be responsible if my car was damaged […] while parked this way. The hotel is conveniently located just a block from the river and La Villita. The grounds and pool area are wonderful with shady oak trees, fountains and birds walking the grounds. "Nice place for the money"
We have stayed at a variety of Marriotts in San Antonio and considering this ones price and location it is a good deal. The walk to the riverwalk isn't a big deal and this averages about $100 less per night.
