"nice hotel"
If your not familiar with this place the front of the hotel is a bit unclear. The valet parking has a station under the parkway so we figured it was automatically valet. We drove down the little street way and for self parking you have to have your room key first. We then had to drive back around to were the valet was. Point across, just drive up to the valet and go from there. Other than that the staff was really helpful, the hotel was so nice, clean, just plain beautiful.

"Nice Hotel close to the River Walk"
Great price for location. Easy walk to River Walk. Fun birds and Peacocks about the premises. Parking lot ($25 which is par for the area) overcrowded on Saturday night. Wonderful refreshing "peacock punch" and ice water with strawberries floating in it provided in lobby. Nice pool area with bar for drinks.

"Great hotel and staff not far from river walk."
We got into town early and asked to park our car in their lot and the friendly staff actually gave us our room so we got to park and wash up before stepping out. The hotel has a great setup with a nice pool and cool lounge areas.

"Great place to stay for a weekend"
This hotel is perfect for a weekend trip. It is very close to the River Walk. The pool is nice and the breakfast buffet is really good. It is also kid-friendly.

"Beautiful"
The hotel and grounds are gorgeous. It felt more like a resort than a hotel. It was refreshing to walk around outside in the garden or soak in the hot tub and relax and enjoy the beauty. It didn't feel like we were in the middle of a big city, and the Riverwalk is just a short walk away. Everyone was very courteous and helpful.

"Service should be better"
Turns out I left my cell phone at the conference down the street. My husband called my hotel to tell them it had been found. No note was left at my room, no phone message on my phone, no contact from the front desk. I had higher expectations for this hotel but found that the rates were wrong and had to haggle to get them fixed and felt the front desk service needed a better tone. The men who work outside to hail taxis were incredibly nice though! They offered me water when I would come back from the conference, which was a nice treat. I also asked for a quiet room and was placed outside the main street in front of the hotel. The comfort of my room would have been much better if their analog tv service didn't go in and out and it didn't take 1 minute to change between channels. I would think a hotel like Marriott would have better amenities to their guests.

"Riverwalk convenient"
This hotel is an easy stroll to the riverwalk, is welcoming and lovely. Self parking is a good alternative u f you want to sava a few dollars. Buffet breakfast is varied and they will make individual egg dishes to order and they perfoemed that very well with the eggs coming out perfectly. The best part of the stay is the quality of of the staff which was excellent when we were there.

"Pleasantly surprised!"
Ideal location close to the Riverwalk. Hotel is not too modern but large , comfortable room was perfect for my sisters and I. Spacious lobby and pleasing outdoor patios provided ample areas for relaxing. Close-surface parking was a definite plus for in and out excursions to the city.

"Close to convention center"
The hotel was okay, nothing spectacular but it was within walking distance to the convention center as well as the river walk. The hotel staff was not very competent, Upon checkout, I was charged for the entire stay even though I had already paid it through Expedia. Clerk told me I needed to resolve that with Expedia. Finally, a manager showed up, not because I requested it, and I asked for assistance. She finally resovled it but was not very professional. Until this happened, I thought I would book that same hotel in the future but now I am not too sure I would like to.

"Great location"
My husband and I were celebrating our 15th Anniversary and since we hadn't been to San Antonio in about 10 years we decided to go back. The Marriott Plaza was the perfect place. Within walking distance to the Riverwalk so no extra parking fees were required. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions. Would definitely recommend.

"San Antonio get-away"
Elevator was broken. I booked thru Expedia on a Wednesday for nice room. Got a room with balcony view of parking lot at far end of hotel. Ac was broke and they could not change our room to a nicer view because the nice ones were booked on Thursday. (This is what I was told). Thought has great rate of $159 a night but when final bill charged was at $500 for three days two nights. Would rather have stayed at Hilton for that price. Wish was better experience. Was first time booking on line and any vacation at that since childhood.

"Close to convention center"
We stayed here for a dental conference, and had a great time! It was only a 10 minute walk to the convention center, and 5 minutes to the river walk. The staff was friendly, the rooms were comfortable, and the atmosphere was beautiful. The first morning, I ordered room service, and they were 5 minutes later than they said they would be. I was a little irritated. But, when they came to deliver my food, I didn't have to say anything. She asked me what time it was, and said "Oh, it looks like I'm a little late. We can charge this to the house for you." Problem solved!

Our trip was hectic, full of logistics, requests, etc. All of the staff, from the bellmen to the desk staff to the bar tender to the engineer to the event staff, were helpful, kind, and thoughtful. This hotel is a little off the "main drag" but close to everything, especially if you take the River Walk. My whole team recommend it thoroughly! The next time we travel to San Antonia, this will be the first choice for our hotel.

"Nice hotel walking distance to the Riverwalk."
We stayed two nights at this hotel, we were two families with kids, and it is a very convenient location to walk to the Alamo, Riverwalk, La Villita, etc. They give us the worst rooms in the hotel during the check in, they didn't have a tub, only a little shower with a plastic curtain, and they were not connected -a thing that I have required having children. Another member of the staff easily gave us better and connected rooms, so I think they wait to see if you complain or not. The breakfast was not good, we have to wait almost half an our for bread and pancakes.

"Great Location"
The hotel was situated in a great spot. The staff was very accommodating and friendly - always willing to help in any way they could. The pool was very nice and quiet the first few days until all the families arrived with their kids and pool toys in tow....but nice overall. It would have been nice if the pool bar was open since the pool was very crowded; the waitress had to run in and out to bar/kitchen area so the wait for food and drink was a bit long - but she did the best she could and was very pleasant. It would have been nice to have had coffee available in the lobby - being a Marriott Reward member I also would have appreciated being told about the Concierge Level that was available - found out on last day there and it was closed that day because it was a Sunday. Overall though it was a great experience - the unfortunate thing was the daily price for self-service parking - I think the price is too high....

"not worth it"
The room was very clean everyday but the hotel hallway isnt. The pool is very very small and if you go in a weekend you dont have a spot to get into. The bad part of the hotel is the parking lot...25 dlls daily rate...really??? Cmon that should be included in the room's price already or not charge it at all.

Nice folks, friendly and prompt service. Tub did not drain in the first room; moved to the second room and one of the twin beds was broken (sagged in the middle). Seems like there may be maintenance issues?

"Nice location, good service, dirty sheets."
Upon check in we were put into a double bed room and had to request we be be moved to the king room we booked. A man nicely met us upstairs and showed us to our new room and ensured we were happy with it before leaving. We headed back out to the river walk and returned later that night. Due to some miscommunication in the little shop in the lobby and our earlier mishap the lady at the front desk gave us a key to a lounge that had free sodas and snacks, which I thought was nice. Upon returning to our room we found our sheets to be stained. It was already late and I did not want to go through the hassle of complaining or having them changed. Even though it looked as if the stains were older and the sheets had been washed I was grossed out by it. Even though the service was not directly bad I felt as if the room switch and stained sheets should not have happened considering what I paid to stay there.

It was good, except the hotel did not have our reservation. Had to call several places to confirm. The confirmation # hotels.com gave was a different one that Merriot had. They told us that they don't have to guarantee a room that's booked through a third party. We found this a bit disturbing.

"It's the staff!"
Let's start with the hotel. It's perfectly nice, and conveniently located. I'd describe the rooms as slightly dated, though very comfortable. Let's talk about the staff. They were absolutely top notch. Natasha, who works the front desk, is deserving of a promotion. Talk about going above and beyond! I had an unfortunate incident with a suit button and asked if she had a sewing kit. For the next ten minutes she became a professional seamstress and repaired my jacket with a smile. Amazing! The concierge was also wonderful, as was the staff at the hotel's small but comfortable bar. I'll definitely be back.

"Nice Hotel"
Our room was huge, we had 5 people staying in a room with 2 double beds and we had room for an air mattress. The only complaint I have is there is no free breakfast, and we could not find coffee in the lobby. We either had to make it ourselves or spend $5 a the hotel bar. They have nice options in the store in the lobby for medicine or snacks, and there is even a peacock and peahen that roam the yard! The hot tub and pool area is beautiful, with towels outside. Staff was very friendly. Parking was about $25 a day. Overall a very enjoyable stay! Super easy to walk to the riverwalk.

"Nice hotel, convenient location"
Enjoyed our stay in San Antonio. Very convenient location - walking distance from the River Walk and The Alamo. Would have rated higher if they had a restaurant that served dinner - my wife was sick one of the days and we wanted to have a quick dinner but had to walk out to a nearby restaurant instead.

"excellent experience"
I visited for a conference at the hotel. From arrival to departure the staff was always w a smile on the face and greeting us at all time. Also eager to help. Their behavior seemed to be genuine. The food at the hotel was very good (though a little on the pricey side but of course, is Marriott. The accomodations were very good and even my wife that is somewhat demmanding for waht she pays, had no compaints for the first time in a hotel. I will return nest time that I have to be in San Antonio overnite.

"Nice hotel but room noisy"
We enjoyed the hotel and loved the rooms vaulted ceilings since the room we were given was on the top floor. The hotel is within a short walking distance of the river walk, and many other inner city attractions. The room was pleasant and clean. There was plenty of parking and in and out privileges were definitely a plus during our stay. Our only complaint was that our room was right next to the elevator which meant that we were roused from sleep several times during our stay. We did question where we were to hang our towels if we didn't need them to be laundered as there were no drying rods for this purpose.

"Not Impressed"
Here for a 3-day stay on business and I wasn't too impressed. The room just fine. Comfortable beds and clean, but the amenities leave a lot to be desired for a $150/night range hotel. First, Internet is $12.95/day in room, which is pretty dumb. Free in the lobby but it's constantly overflowing with everyone else trying to connect to the same wifi and it's an inconvienence to be away from your room. Second, there just one small washer/dryer for the entire hotel and zero room to fold or place down your belonging. No breakfast but for $15 you can get a bagel and fruit (no thanks). No town car, the hot tub was broke for a day (they did address). Hotel gets 5 starts for cleanliness and location and 1 star for amenities. For a hotel of this size, I'll look elsewhere next time.

"It was "OK", but NOT worth 240$ a night !!"
Sooo, though the hotel was beautiful and it was convenient, for $240 I would have expected more and have gotten more from hotels that weren't as expensive... 23$ for self parking... I just think that should have been mentioned when we booked the hotel. When we first walked in the room, we had to call maintenance because the a/c was STUCK on heat and he gladly came and got in ceiling and fixed it with no problem. The toilet seat was such that when you sat on it, it slid over to the side, like you were fixing to fall off... and, there was NO avoiding it... The dust on the leather couch was where we could write our name in it, and we did... Literally, there was ONE trash can in the WHOLE room, which was located in the bathroom... There was one small bottle of liquid soap for two people, needless to say, after a day at the riverwalk, we needed more. Lighting was so dim, extremely dim... We're 50, we need LIGHT... The bed, the bed was MOST COMFORTABLE... One of the best beds we've slept in, in a hotel, and we've stayed in many. Thank You.

"A bit too pricey for what you get"
We stayed at the Marriott Plaza for a quick weekend trip because most everything else downtown was booked completely or definitively had no two-queen-bed rooms left. Overall, the location was nice being between some fun bars on the south side of downtown and the river walk area. The rooms were in pretty good condition and seemed pretty updated. That being said, the staff seemed less than excited to be of any help. I've never had a hotel completely refuse or be unable to have any rooms available a bit early before check in--even though check in was rather late. They simply forced people to wait en masse in the lobby until 4. This was doubly annoying when the cleaning staff knocked on our door promptly at 950 am the next morning. It's hard to believe there were zero rooms made ready before 4 pm. They also promised to call us when a room came open, but that never happened. To top it off, they were out of double bed rooms right at the start of check in. Whereas other hotels blackout the double bed preference once those rooms are booked, the Marriott apparently doesn't. And without even complaining to them or being unpleasant, they quickly jumped to acting bothered by my questions, as of I was an idiot for even asking for early check in. The price of parking was also a bit much when you consider the already high price of the room (which didn't come with breakfast). It is a pretty nice hotel, but I'd either spring for an even nicer hotel or save a lot and go more basic next time. But hey, there's a peacock in the courtyard, so that's something.
