"Decent hotel with accommodating staff"
We stayed New Year's Eve and didn't have any real expectations for this place, so it is fair to say that our expectations were exceeded. It was nice and would stay here again if more downtown centric hotels were not available.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Don't Drink and Drive"
We got a room to be closer to a concert venue. The discount website listed a price lower than weeks ahead of time. Therefore, it was a great value. Excellent service/staff- very courteous and helpful. The room was slightly run down as was part of the lobby but I don't care about a little peeled wallpaper or cracks in the lobby floor. St. Regis was an […] excellent value and served its purpose wonderfully Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was the perfect location for a night out at the Fisher Theatre. There is also a great restaurant right across the street (New Center Eatery).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Definatley did not like how the house keeping personnel slammed or let the doors slam in the morning. It woke me and my guest up way before check out timeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not enough information about area...no real amenities.... not good area to experience DetroitGenuine Expedia guest review
I live in Oakland County and whenever I am going to a concert or a banger I always stay here. This place is great. not to far from the HEART of the D. Staff is great, valet is fast and usually a cab waiting for you when you get ready for your night/morning our... I love this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The Saint Regis is close to some interesting sites"
My stay in Detroit at the St. Regis I would say was quite pleasant, but due to the Weather condition I did not get around much. So at this time I will not elaborate, will have to visit again when the Weather is pleasant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient to Fisher Building & Downtown Detroit"
This time it was quite noisy with a loud group from a class reunion and a private 40th birthday party just down from our first room (we asked to move and staff were accomodating). we did complain again about people coming in at 2:30 AM and talking at the top of their voices. Staff knocked off $25 from our final check which made us feel better. Stay […] away from front street and elevator and noise is less of a problem. We have been here three nights now and crime is not a problem in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice independnt hotel in the hot midtown center I wanted--nothing walkable, but that's pretty much Detroit. Starbucks in the room, not very good food, but friendly service and not a boring chain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice old hotel-but falls short"
I thought the service was good, and the room was clean. I would have preferred that they have an exercise room, hot tub or pool. Also, the valet parking charge was excessive. The hotel restaurant closes very early.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
room temp was about 62 degrees all night. brrrrrrGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Gem in the city."
Beautiful old-world hotel. Staff was delightful. Unfortunately they oversold the two queen beds we had requested and we were forced to squeeze into two double beds. We would definitely stay here again, but we'd confirm our room and maybe complain if we were again disappointed by our sleeping accommodations. Also, parking is $20 if you need it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, convenient"
The St. Regis was comfortable, affordable, clean, safe, and convenient to downtown Detroit and the Wayne State area. We were very happy with our two-night stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Won't go there again"
The hotel is beautiful on the outside and has a beautiful lobby. That's where it ends. Our room had nails in the walls for pictures, but no pictures. The windows were so drafty that we put a couple bottles of wine on the windowsill because it kept it colder there than in a bucket of ice. Although we turned the heat up, our room never got warm. The $20.00 […] parking fee is outrageous! I will never stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in the heart of Detroit"
After traveling through Detroit and seeing the condition of the city, it was a nice surprise to be staying in a hotel that was well maintained, clean and friendly. There is valet parking and a restaurant in the hotel so you don't have to venture out. It was a very pleasant stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Electrical plug in bathroom did not work along with it not being as clean as possible. . The bed rolled to the center of the bed.Genuine Expedia guest review
- The room doors do not have any seals on them. You can hear everything. It was windy my first night and the person next door had their window open. Their door constantly rattled keeping me awake. I called the front desk who said they'd look into it; they did not. I called again and had them switch my room. The second room's heater did not work. We […] switched rooms again. The night desk agent was less than enthusiastic with her service. - They have mandatory valet parking at $20 per night. They park your car in a lot behind the hotel which isn't as secure as you'd want it to be. - They do not have a complimentary breakfast bar. Not even a doughnut. - Only one ice maker in the entire building. If you want an in-room fridge, it'll cost you $10 per night more. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

My stay was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First experience at the hotel was the mandatory 20 dollar valet that I was treated with! Then I entered my first room for the night both phones were not working so I couldn't ask what the wifi password was. After going downstairs they switched me to another room. "Classy and reasonable"
I love the elegance and location of this hotel. As a former Detroiter, I was happy that this symbol of our greatness still survives.Genuine Expedia guest review
"room out dated"
The bath room tub faucet leaked and had rust eveywhere. The knobs and hook were missing off door. Bathroom door appeared to be kicked in at some point. The Tv was extremely old. For the price I'd expect more. The lobby is very grad but doesn't match the rooms.. I was given a free breakfast for the inconvenience. Again for the cost id expect more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
St. Regis is towards downtown and close to the casinos. The room was fine. Ask for extra towels :-) We saved the valet fee by parking on the street directly across from the hotel both nights and had no problem.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Customer Service"
This Hotel has an amazing Staff! I was there with a film crew and they went out of their way to support and accommodate our needs. , I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Detroit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel St Regis"
My whole motivation in staying at this hotel was it is right down the street from the Amtrak station in Detroit, walking distance. So, that was very convenient. The area was a bit rougher than I was expecting, but it wasn't too bad. The hotel is located north on Woodward of the Fox Theater corridor, Ford Field and all of that.Genuine Expedia guest review
Best place I ever stayed!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
St.Regis is a nice hotel with friendly staff. Valet is the option for parking, but with reasonable rates its still more affordable than other hotels in the area. The only complaint was a request for late checkout was not relayed to housekeeping, and the heat in the room only seemed to have an on/off switch. Had to open the window and turn off the heat. "Nice hotel, but..."
I've stayed in this hotel two times, about a year apart. This time, some changes have been made, and I don't know that I'll stay in this hotel again. PROS: Nice hotel, easy access, friendly staff, good service. The valet even helped us carry our bags to the 3rd floor because there were no available luggage trollies! CONS: They've eliminated their continental […] breakfast, and there is a mandatory overnight valet parking charge. I remember there being a valet parking charge last year, but I don't think it was nearly so expensive. As a group of college students, we were looking to save money, and our stay ended up being about the same price as some of the more expensive hotels in the area. Overall, it's a nice hotel, and other than the cons I mentioned, we had a great time there. Next time, we'll be looking for a hotel that can get us more for our money. "Great Price for a decent night sleep"
Friendly Staff. Valet parking is great! The room was very clean. The only problem was that the heat wouldn't turn off in our room (85 degrees when we arrived) I solved it by opening the window a crack (40 degrees outside) to balance the temp to a tolerable 71 degrees.Genuine Expedia guest review
I checked in hotel and the room was extremely hot, I tried to turn on air but it just blowed out hot air. I called to front desk to complain and their response was the air has been shut off for the season and we could open the window! I told them the furnace was still blowing out hot air, they said it's going to do that and they can't stop it! So I […] left that night and got a full refund Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The only problem was the restaurant. Horrible service and the oatmeal tasted like wallpaper paste. After the first morning we ate breakfast out.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed one night at the Hotel St. Regis over the marathon weekend and were very disappointed with multiple aspects of our stay. First of all, we didn't realize that the only parking option at the hotel was a $20 per night valet charge which could certainly add up if you are staying multiple nights. Second, the room itself was very disappointing with […] a large pink stain on the carpet, two pieces of trash on the floor that we cleaned up ourselves, carpet coming up at the edges, lights out in the bathroom, and the shower curtain partially falling off. Then there were issues with the heat not coming on until the middle of the night when it was 40 degrees outside. In the morning, the water temperature fluctuated from cold to hot and required constant adjusting while showering. To top it off, we accidentally left our iPhone charger in the room and called about it only 4 hours after we checked out, but no one had seen it or turned it in even though the room had already been cleaned. After speaking to multiple people during the next two days, I found that most of them refused to acknowledge that the charger had been stolen. However the manager did offer to buy me a new one and send it me in the mail, but that missed the point. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fine Basic Hotel"
We were going to see the Detroit Institute for the Arts and the St. Regis was the one hotel within walking distance. It is also within walking distance of the Amtrak station, so we did not require taxis. Immediate surroundings of hotel were depressing. The room was fine, but the pillows hard and toilet ran and needed repair. Restaurant very nice, if […] empty. Free WiFi was great, if slow. Overall a good experience for the price. My stay this time compared to the last stay was like night and day. The staff were not only professional but personable. They have made improvements in all areas of the hotel. It was clean and inviting. I think the real difference I noticed was in the feeling of safety and being secure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very interesting historic hotel. Could be an excellent stay, but it is obvious the facilities need updating and repair. Difficult to tell if the room was well worn or needing deep cleaning. Staff is super friendly and accommodating.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Will Stay Again"
My first overnight stay in Detroit, MI, was both a nervous and exciting event. Getting lost was not a pleasurable experience. It was pleasing to know the St. Regis staff was willing to accept my call and stay on the line until I found my way to the hotel safely. The beds were comfortable; however I could not control the room temperature. Nevertheless, […] the overall stay was good. The morning breakfast was excellent and the staff was helpful with confirming directions to stated locations. The valet parking attendant also provided a great experience. It is a $15.00 cab ride each way to / back for Commerica, Ford Field or Greektown. So the savings is not really there.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Hotel experience was excellent! Check in was a little slow initially with one person. Our room( king bed) was great. "All new St Regis?"
There's nothing new about this hotel, except maybe the staff. Old dirty duvets on the beds, mix/match gold and silver hardware throughout the room, down to the "big back" old school tv. For the amount of money, definitely a No.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was relaxing. The beds were so comfy I didn't want to get up to check out. The staff was very friendly. Although it was a drag that I had to pay $20 for valet, since there was no self parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was unsure about staying here because of other reviews as well as the location. However, it was much better than I had anticipated. The staff was incredibly friendly and the building itself is beautiful. My only complaint is that our air conditioning didn't work in our room. We did not alert staff because when we got back to our room it was really […] late and we were exhausted. Next time we know to check before we go out for the evening. "Very nice hotel. Great access to downtown."
I grew up in Detroit. My husband (from NC), has visited the city many times. But I wanted him to experience downtown and we did! The St. Regis was excellent: location comfort, friendly and professional staff, and good food. Our stay made me happy. In spite of the national news and Detroit does have some problems to solve. But what I saw was a good sign. […] Our city is in survival mode and it will! If you go, stay at the St. Regis. You will be glad you did. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
