Econo Lodge Motel Village - Calgary

This was by far the worse hotel we have ever stayed in!! The pictures on the Internet was nothing like what the hotel, room or front desk, looked like. There was extension cords under the bed that connected all the appliances. There was a refrigerator and a microwave, but neither were plugged in because another extension cord was under the desk not […] plugged into anything. There were two floors, but no elevator. Not much to recommend. Should include specific location in description as it is somewhat hidden. Something like "Next to Denny's" would be helpful. Continental breakfast not very appealing. Property a bit run down.

This Econo Lodge is in a good location- close to the C train station and a 24 hour restaurant. The hotel itself is definitely in need of some basic upkeep- the mattress was one of those U-shaped affairs and the curtains were so yukky that I washed my hands after closing them. Also, the floors in the hallway are lumpy... what's up with that?

We booked this room at the Econo Lodge 6 weeks in advance. The address we were given was for a fairly new Econo Lodge but when we arrived late in the day due to air travel, we were sent to another Econo Lodge property down the street. This site was so run down that it did not feel safe, however due to the lateness of the hour we had no other choice. […] There was no elevator in the building so we had to lug huge heavy bags up two flights of stairs. The halls were overpowered with deodorizer that was supposed to cover the stench. The pad under the hall carpet was so disintegrated that it was like walking on an uneven surface rather than a carpeted hallway. The room was not clean. The plumbing in the bathroom was so old that when we turned on the hot water, I am sure the noise from the plumbing woke everyone nearby. The shower head was so low that anyone over 5'5" had to bend over to get rinsed. This motel is not suitable for occupancy. Hilton should be ashamed to have their name on it. BECAUSE OF THIS EXPERIENCE WE WILL NOT BE STAYING IN A HILTON PROPERTY IN THE FUTURE AND WILL INFORM THE AAA THAT THERE IS MORE THAN ONE LOCATION UNDER THIS NAME. Thank you. Read more

15 min from airport. The room was spacious and had a little kitchenette with dishes, sink, fridge and microwave! The halls smelled like smoke but the room smelled fine.

Location of this hotel is great if you need access to the LRT but it is dire need of a renovation. Musty, smoky smell to it. outdated paint and carpets. Outdated furniture. needs new mattresses. Will not stay here again.

This hotel is VERY affordable. It IS a smoking hotel so you can smell it in the hallways, but it is not bad. The rooms were aged and worn, but very clean. Breakfast was simple but adequate. Service was very nice. This place is bare bones - but it's worth it for the money.

Its an economy hotel and if you are looking to enjoy your time outside and then come back and relax for a good night sleep then this hotel will sure fill in your needs. We got a deal through expedia and had the parking and complimentary breakfast build in the price. Well I didnt use the breakfast (which i believe is continental and is the same everywhere […] else) but I believe to save out on parking is a plus. The front desk was polite when I called them at a hours notice before my checkout and mentioned that I might be late. They did check me out in the system. Although I came in a whole 2 hrs later then i promised as I got stuck in an appointment. The rooms are small but thats the price you pay. I found the beds comfortable in comparison to the deltas and the radissons. I had a good ngiht sleep. The lobby is a bit kind of run down as its an old motel. This is a very old property will little recent renos. Hallways and rooms are dark and dingy. Rooms are small but fairly clean. Price is the cheapest in motel village although there is another much newer and nicer econo lodge right next door. I got the two confused when booking. The Free breakfast is only toast and cereal.

Hotel needs work, it is showing its age. Tub in bathroom raised at least 6 inches off floor, a hazzard, not sure if it even conforms to building code. Use of handrails is a must.

It was a very scary place to stay. Our first night there we saw a random strung out person wandering though the hall on the first floor. My husband and I quickly ran up to our room and double locked the door. We were suppose to stay for three nights but we both felt so unsafe there that we checked out the next morning and checked into a hotel next door […] where the security was far better and the quality of the hotel in general was many times better. After being checked in by a somewhat grumpy gentleman we proceeded to our room on the second floor. Based on the low star rating, we were not expecting a lot. What we found was a room with two double beds; one with a broken frame that made you feel like you were standing on your head when you laid down. At first we thought it might be that the mattress […] was not on correctly. When we adjusted that, we found that the frame was broken at the top, the mattresses were both bigger than their boxsprings and the one bed's boxspring had a really large, disturbing (blood?) stain on it. We pushed the mattress a bit too close to the wall, so went to the other side of the bed to adjust it. What we found over there appeared to be a mouse trap on the floor. Yuck! The bathroom was in dire need of renovation. The tub was all scratched up. Needless to say we were not happy with the room, but we decided to just deal with it and see if we could change it in the morning. In the morning, after a restless night, we went to the front desk and a very nice, helpful woman dealt with our issues and told us that although they were full, they would have another room made available for us. By 9:30 that morning we were moved and the second room (on the main floor) was very good. They should make a strong effort to bring all their rooms up to that standard and not risk losing customers for the chain with that first room! The breakfast was decent and the location was good and central. There were good restaurants and pubs nearby, but no sidewalks, so you had to drive even if they were close. Read more

If you want a good sleep dont stay here, the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything going on in both rooms next to you. The room was also way to hot to sleep comfortably in and the heaters could not be turned down. The staff were all fine, and the breakfast was ok, this place needs a major renovation!

The hallways still had a cigarette smell to them. The room itself was OK, but the bathroom really needed a overhaul - get rid of the wallpaper and just paint the walls.
