St. Louis Union Station is absolutely breathtaking, so it's a shame that the enormous Hilton corporation isn't taking better care of her. The carpet throughout is worn and sad looking. Lighting in the public ares and traffic patterns are not well thought out. However, if the choice is a complete remodel of this stately building, I'll take her just the […] way she is. I would hate to see her remodeled within an inch of her life. My room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The staff friends and the valet was always on time. Great Hotel in the heart of the city, very close to Blues and Cardinals. Historical feeling throughout the property. The mall is disappointing because its so empty but very clean. Price was high on the room at $165 in my opinion.

overall enjoyed our stay. I would have prefered a room on an upper floor as oposed to the 1st floor. The preson that checked us in on arrival was not at all helpful and seemed indifferent. All others we came in contact with were always helpful. We would stay again and recommend Union Station..

They don't build buildings like this one anymore. The renovation job brought back a great old building to usefulness. Its very close to the Hockey Arena and Baseball stadium, however, it's a little bit of a walk to the Arch. Despite that, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Traveling with kids it would have been nice if there was an indoor pool. (March) We did appreciate the complimentary breakfast buffet. Rooms were nice and spacious with 2 adults and 2 kids. Would have appreciated a mini fridge or microwave. I probably would not stay here again because of the lack of amenities.

The lobby of this hotel is absolutely stunning. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. There was shopping and dining right on site and the overall ambiance was excellent. The night staff here was unfriendly, unhelpful, and quite frankly, a little unintelligent. Half of the hotel was a 4 star atmosphere with amazing rooms, the other half was a 2 star motel atmosphere with low-class rooms. We reserved a room for 3 adults and 2 queen beds. When we checked in, we went up to the room in the luxury area of the hotel and found […] that there was only one queen bed. We went back down to the desk and asked for a new room. They gave us new keys and we went to the new room. It was in the basement in the poorly maintained portion of the hotel on the other side of the old train station and the hallways were dirty and there was some blood on the wall. We tried the keys but they didn't work. We went back to the desk AGAIN and the attendant went with us to try the keys as if we were lying about them not working. It turned out that the room was occupied and we woke up the lady in the room. The attendant did not apologize to the lady or us for the mistake. It was almost 12:30 AM at this point and we had to go all the way back to desk to get ANOTHER room. This time, the attendant admitted that there were no rooms with 2 beds. He gave us a king suite, which he claimed was a nicer room, but it was small and had two pullout beds. Even then, there were no sheets or blankets for the couch bed. We called the desk 4 times to get some and they finally brought some an hour later. I'm sure that our stay would have been great, had the first room been the right one. Read more

Let's be honest, we were all a little tipsy when this room was booked. It was for an out of town wedding that we'd procrastinated on finding lodging for, so one night after downing a bit of alcohol, we booked the first thing that looked decent and was affordable. Me and my husband were arriving in St. Louis around noon this particular Saturday. Being that their standard check-in time is 3pm, I called the night before to assure we could check in early and was told it was no problem and our room would be ready upon arrival. once arriving to check-in we were told not only that the room was not ready, but that the […] room would not be ready for a few hours and they had no notice of me calling and making such arrangements. Even though I had the name of the gentleman I spoke with and what time I called the previous night, there was nothing they could do. So we waited for about 30 minutes in the lobby and finally one of the staff said they had a room available. First of all, the hotel is s big that it literally takes TEN minutes just to walk to your room. Very inconvenient! When we finally got to the room, it was a basic Queen room... I booked a King room with a courtyard view. At this point I was so fed up with everything that I didn't care to take the ten minute walk back to the lobby to complain or have to wait another 30 minutes to be placed in another room. Needless to say, we will NEVER stay there again. The price is too high for the service, having to walk a mile to get to any room, and also, there was no microwave or mini fridge in the room! I use to stay at this facility a few years back and it had a fully funcitional Mall and decent clientel. Now there are only 20 stores with homeless people wondering through the mall area that can walk right up a set of stairs into the Hotel lobby. We felt uncomfortable walking outside the mall at night to Landry's which is only a few hundred yards out […] of the mall. I was informed that the mall has been sold a few times over last few years, this area is unsafe at this time and would stongly suggest you stay at almost any other facility in the downtown St. Louis Area. I read all the reviews of DoubleTree and decided to stay here. It was not nearly as great as everyone said, and I am not picky at all. The staff up front was nice and explained how to get to our room after we opted for $15 self park. The parking longs you are supposed to park in were blocked off and no one told us, so a line of cars was trying to figure […] out where to go when both parking attendants kept sending cars towards each other. (funny actually) Trying to get to our room was insane, that place is a labyrinth! Exit stairs locked behind us, which was fine because we were able to explore some and wound up in the middle of Union Station. If you do stay here, make sure they give you a room up front or convenient or you will walk miles. The actual room was very nice and good amenities. If you don't buy the breakfast option, as they have no continental, there is an Einstein Bros there. Overall, I just wasn't impressed due to the confusing nature of the hotel, there are marks all over the walls and it is not easy to get in or out of there.
