Very satisfied with the stay. Only comment is general "worn" condition of the hotel but, considering its age and history, I accepted it as an old world amenity rather than a deficiency. This was my second time staying at the Londonskaya. It will likely be my last. On the first visit, my room could not be accessed by my key card. I had to get a valet to let me into my room each time. On my second visit, I could not use the internet in my room during my entire stay. To make matters worse, my first attempt at a shower resulted in water […] spraying all over the bathroom. A quick investigation revealed that the shower nozzle was not capable of being fixed into a shower position. I told the front desk manager who told me that he had nothing else to offer me. I immediately informed him that I would be checking out in the morning and finding another hotel... even though this would disrupt my business meetings. I will say some pros and cons to the hotel and you can decide what is most important to you in your stay. Pros: location, felt safe, great room service, great food, staff knew english. Housekeeping was amazing. Cons: wireless didn't work in room the first time I stayed there, it did work when I came back in another room though. Beds weren't too comfortable, a queen is basically 2 doubles pushed together so there is a big gap down the middle that can be uncomfortable. Very helpful staff who speak fairly well English. The Formula Spa that you have access to for the gym/pool is great. The location is super for walking to most of the major sights as well as restaurants/bars.

I enjoyed being on such a beautiful boulevard, especially after a day of walking. Coming back to this shady lane between rows of chestnut and sycamore trees directly in front of the hotel was refreshing, and just hanging out on a bench was an opportunity to people watch. The trees in front of the hotel also shield the industrial port cranes from view. […] And just around the corner are museums, the opera house, Catherine square. So, the location was a big plus for me. I also enjoyed the historic interior of the hotel and although I never used the swimming pool, accessible through a roof-top walkway into an adjoining building, it looked beautiful. My online reservation didn't included breakfast, so I had the minibar emptied out and used that for groceries I'd bought at a mall grocery store on Deribas St., about a 10-minute walk away. Hotel has nice approach and appearance then becomes rather plain after leaving the "meeting and greeting areas" but certainly nice as a place to rendezvous initially. Clean, good food and drink reasonably priced. Rooms were a little more pricey than normal this trip inexplicably.

Magnificient historic building, in a majestic setting, overlooking the Black sea. Promenade in front, restaurants and shops in the surrounding pedestrian zone. One feels and expects to re-live the grandeur of the Russian Empire. Instead, one has to satisfy oneself with the ghosts of the Soviet era. The building begs for maintenance and uphaul. The […] craftsmanship in the partial restoration leaves much to be desired. The grand entrance is a front, to cover the forgotten bowels of a once-imposing building. The front desk staff are fluent in English and in control of things. The remaining staff are friendly, but less aware as to how to please guests. Very reasonable room prices, considering the grandeur of the building, yet understandable considering the simple in-room accomodations. Outrageously expensive breakfast and food, given the meager offerings. Slow WiFi. If it's your first trip to Odessa, stay at the Londonskaya. Would I stay there again? To show off a historic building to my travel companion, yes. To be next to the Opera, yes. To enjoy a comfortable hotel stay, no. There are other hotels (especially apart-hotels) in the neighbirhood, which boast more functionality and convenience, though less grandeur and history. Read more

Londonskaya is located in the old historical building and the interior of the hotel is very unique and interesting. Overall, it's a good place to stay, the drinks at the bar are a bit overpriced, but that's to be expected at the hotel. The only problem that I observed and it's a glaring one, the elevator did not work for 6 out of 7 days that I have […] stayed there. I don't mind walking up and down the stairs at all, but I felt really bad for older people that had to do that every single day. I would recommend this hotel, they have improved it greatly, I stayed several times in it, and now all of the quirks that were present before such as the lack of air conditioning/heat in the room have been addressed. Booked the standard room, which turned out to be in some sort of annex, ie not in the magnificent main building, under the roof - a "mansard" with no view except a wall. It was explained to me that only junior suites had a view of the sea. Breakfast was not included. There was a cockroach (albeit small) in the bathroom, and the toilet flush was semi-broken […] (needed to be wiggled to function). I asked several times for the safe deposit box in my room to be fixed, which didn't happen for the duration of my stay (granted,only two days). Hotel (when approached for assistance) tried to push services that were exceedingly expensive - lift to airport for $ 20 which I ended up organizing for $ 6, or guided tour of Odessa for $ 90 which I organized for $ 30. But it's definitely in a great location (right near Potemkin Steps and 5 minutes walking to main street Deribasovskaya). Read more

I am an airline captain by profession so I have become somewhat of an expert on hotels during my 26 years of flying :) August 2011 was my third visit to Odessa and my second stay at the Londonskaya. The hotel was recently renovated and once again I was very happy with my stay. My room was comfortable, very good size (by demanding American standards), […] and the service was once again excellent. The staff spoke good English and I was happy to recognize some of the same faces from my previous visit 8 months prior. The location is beautiful right on the Primorskyi walking street and everything is within short walking distance. Even if the Bristol Hotel is my first choice in Odessa, I highly recommend the historic and unique Londonskaya - this establishment has tons of personality and charm, and it's a great place to stay when visiting Odessa. This is a lovely hotel with a historical theme. This was my 3rd visit there. I had a very pleasant stay and would return there again. My only objection to an, otherwise, great experience was the total disregard of my presence when checking-in. I was ignored by the receptionist and her assistant while they were assisting just 1 customers. After 10 minutes, […] I said ... "please, I am just checking-in after a long travel day." There was no acknowledgement of my presence by either word or glance. I waited 10 more minutes and was helped only when the other guest was finished with his business. No apologies werer offered. I was clearly angry. I was given the keys to my room and traveled there with the Valet. The room was wrong. I had reserved a King bed and received 2 single beds and a lesser room. I returned to the Front Desk and the receptionist made a call and then informed me that the maid would turn it into a King. I was "steaming" now. I requested the Manager! He listened to my complaint and within 5 minutes, I was brought to a top-tier suite with his compliments and apologies. 10 minutes later, the Valet brought me a bottle of Champagne, fruit and chocolates. The remainder of my experience at Londonskaya was fabulous. With the exception of that single receptionist, the entire staff (Olga in Housekeeping, Ruslin in the restaurant and others)was excellent. So, after a rough start, all went well. I will return. The Manager saved the day. Read more

I was visiting Odessa for the first time in over 33 years since my family left the former Soviet Union to immigrate to the USA. Sadly, I booked late and this was the only hotel that had available rooms for my 2 week stay. The hotel itself looks great from the outside and the lobby and interior hallways are fine, with some minor cracks visible in the […] walls and ceiling, but the room I had was not worthy of calling Londonskaya a 4 star hotel...perhaps 2.5 to 3 stars. The carpet had a burn mark on it from some former guest's failed attempt to iron clothing, no closet, only a small cabinet with a few hangers, which I had to request more of from the hotel staff for all of my clothing. The curtains barely covered the 2 large windows, and the poor water pressure from the shower head made it difficult to take a shower. My "bed" consisted of two twin size beds placed side by side with a piece of foam rubber in between to give the appearance of a queen size mattress, which I found very silly and disturbing. TV was a decent flat panel LCD, so no complaints there, but where was the alarm clock, as none was provided in the room and I used my BlackBerry as my alarm? WiFi signal strength was excellent in my room and I had no issues with it on my laptop. Staff were very attentive and courteous, but their so called "superior" rooms need a major makeover before they can tout themselves as a 4 star hotel. In the future, I'd opt to rent some private apartment in the center of Odessa. Read more

There were so manyproblems with service here it is hard to list. The airc was broken in one of the rooms and the hotel wouldn't fix it or even care that the room was in the high 80's. The maid refused to make up the beds in our twin bed room because there was a T shirt on the bed when she entered to clean. When my girlfriend tried to get a picture of […] the dining room, a waiter demanded that she give him a$60 tip to take it. The hotel is old and has the problems of any old hotel, but whoever is managing it should be fired. This hotel does not deserve its stars. I has a junior suite with view on the park. Very beautiful, old parquet, very charming. The hotel interiors are amazing. Excellent service, they all speak good English. I returned to Londonskaya after several stays on previous occasions had been very pleasant. If you are offered room 450... don't take it. This room was up a set of stairs from the third floor, not very easy if you have a heavy case to carry down. The room was small and had no hot water, the bed was as hard as a rock and the WC was so close to the wall […] on one side as to make it very inconvenient. I was here for one night and had a very early flight in the morning otherwise I would have asked to move. If you are going to the airport from here, do not order a taxi from reception as it will cost you 320 hrv... call a local radio cab (Europa is good) and it will cost you about 50 hrv. Read more

This was my 4th visit to Londonskaya within 2012 and it now feels like my home in Odessa. I was on my way back to the UK having been staying in Nikolaev so it was just for the night, having to leave early for the airport the next day. I was back in Odessa for the April 1st festival. Londonskaya was up to it's usual high standard and was, as ever, the perfect location. I did have a problem in that the power supply to the fridge and TV didn't work but, seemingly, no one had reported this to reception previously. I will certainly come back again.

The hotel Londonskaya has a fantastic interior, the room which I stayed in together with my girlfriend was a suit and the day room was large and at least 6 meters to the roof, excellent condition, and the bedroom on the second floor were also the bathroom and sauna was located, large space for clothes and good clean room.
