I have stayed at the Hotel Savoy on a previous trip and really enjoyed it more than this last experience. The area surrounding the hotel seems to be a major 24/7 construction zone and my room faced the street so all night long I was kept awake by constant banging and clanging. Also found that my carpet had not been vacuumed and there were nail clippings […] from a previous guest. On the positive, the staff are very friendly, the breakfast selection is great, proximity to Red Square couldn't be better and they allowed me an early check-in. This little hotel is located in a quiet street less than 5 minutes wald from the Red Square, Bolshoi, Kremlin, 3 shopping mall (for the shopper addicts) and so much more. The hotel was wonderful place to stay in Russia, December 2012. The furnishings were very nice - with imperial flair. The toiletries were fine quality and quantity. Even a fingernail file was provided. The bathroom was all marble with heated floor and towel bar. Served buffet style, there was a cheese platter, fish platter, sausage platter, porridge with many toppings, several chopped salads, breads galore, including croissants, fresh fruits, delicious juices, coffee, and teas. Prosecco to drink in a champagne flute or with orange juice as a Mimosa. And my personal favorite, Kefir. The pool and sauna were an oasis. I only wish we had gone to swim every single day. When we entered the pool area we were met by a lady in uniform who led us into the dressing areas and showed us where everything was. A complimentary comb was provided as well as towels. We went to the sauna for a bit and then entered the pool area through automatic glass doors. The 25 meter pool was extremely clean and refreshing. On the first floor there is a gorgeous bar/restaurant with balcony and marble steps. The setting is reminiscent of a James Bond movie. The hotel staff speaks English so communication was excellent. I usually stay at another 5 star hotel in Moscow. This one was smaller, quaint, yet had all I needed.....and the location could not be beat. Within 200m of two different metro lines, and easy to grab a cab from the street. Restaurant and bar scene is non existent, but plenty to choose from around the hotel.

The only reason I rated the comfort a 4 is because the room was heated using steam radiators and there didn't seem to be a way to regulate the temperature other than opening a window. Normally expensive hotels have highest service level. This hotel has first half: e pensive prices without "expensive" service. If you delay after 12 you will be kicked out immediately. Late check out is not recognised at all. Max they will give you additional 30 min. And they will call you @ 10 is the morning asking you when you are leaving?

The most important things for me about a hotel room are a comfortable bed and a good shower. The Hotel Savoy is now my number one favorite Moscow hotel! I have stayed in five equal-quality hotels in Moscow, and the Savoy is heads and shoulders above the rest. Savoy is an historic hotel, but unlike other historic Moscow hotels, the Savoy has been kept up-to-date, but without losing any of its historic charm. My room was smaller, but well proportioned […] and it never felt like a gulag cell, as has been the case at other hotels. A very pleasant hotel. Hotel service was outstanding. The lobby staff was cordial, friendly, and genuinely engaging, as were the breakfast and restaurant staff. The cleaning staff was superb and completely dependable. The hotel also is well located, in close proximity to Red Square and very close to two major Metro stations. The Bolshoi Theatre is two blocks away. Very important in Moscow is whether taxis can manage around the inevitably profound traffic jams. Here, the hotel location works in favor of access by taxis and they can swoop right in. I honestly can say nothing negative about the Savoy Hotel. I travel to Moscow several times a year, and I found this hotel to be a totally delightful surprise. Moscow is generally stupidly expensive, but you can find a pretty good deal (in comparison) at the Savoy. I know that I will plan to stay here again. Read more

The room was clean, tasteful decor with high celings and muted colours, architectural detail. Extremely quiet room in midst of city except for last night.
