"Great location in the heart of the city"
Great boutique hotel in the Rocks area close to the key city attractions. Small but adequate rooms in a charmingly renovated building. Stayed here for 7 days exploring Sydney. At arrival a bottle of wine waited for us in the room. There is an on-site bar/ lounge and a breakfast restaurant with good menu. The hotel offers pre-payment of breakfasts which […] gives you a lower price, but you have to commit in advance how many breakfasts you want. I typically like to eat at local places to get a better feeling of the local atmosphere. House keeping was excellent Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Still rocks, only a little less!"
I had stayed here before and had a fantastic experience. I realise now, that that was because I had the handicap access room, to the back of the hotel, away from the traffic and noise of the main street. This time, I had a room that not only captured all of the traffic noise, but had every passerby literally walking past the room window with every opportunity […] to peer into the room. Moreover, it was the weekend, so I also had to endure drunken serenaders. The staff are as fantastic as ever, but anyone booking should ask for a room away from the street. "The Place to Stay in the Rocks"
The Hotel was modern and great. We stayed in the Heritage superior queen room and had a view of the Sydney Opera house. The stay was comfortable and worth the cost. The location was great. A quick walk from the ferry and train station and opera house. It was ultra convenient. If I am in Sydney again this is where I am going to stay. The staff was very […] helpful. There was a luggage elevator, but no human elevator so you need to walk up stairs to get to your room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Would go back"
First time I have stayed here and would go back. There are a few failings but irrelevant next to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Loved the ambience, the friendly staff, the intimate room with great views. Standard of restaurant was very good. The only concern was that our room was adjacent to the baggage elevator which was noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Fantastic location near harbour ,ferries and train link from airport. Small hotel with homely comfortable feel. Great bar and restaurant and good breakfast menu.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved almost everything about this hotel. Rooms are not huge... and ours took a while to be cleaned so upon arrival we could not check in for some time. That aside - wonderful spot for a romantic getaway. Boutique feel and great service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Harbour Rocks Hotel review - 7 Aug 13"
Check out was slow - they said they would e-mail my receipt but nothing received so far. Not having an elevator is a bit of a pain - due to planning/heritage restrictions. I got an upgrade which was nice but the TV did not work properly and the bathroom is very basic and looks old - only a shower. Only shades and no curtains - would have been a pain […] if one wanted to sleep in. When in the lobby, I heard someone call down to complain and ask for curtains! Should have been higher spec. Good location. Trying to punch above its weight and somewhat overpriced for what it is. It is meant to be a boutique hotel but is not finessed enough. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!"
As we have stayed at Harbour Rocks several times before, we again found the Reception Staff so welcoming and accommodating, their service rates 10/10 in our view. However, their menu for Breakfast in their Restaurant leaves much to be desired. Their presentation lacks a lot, bircher muesli - I would rate 1/10!! it was syrupy with very little fruit, […] and tasted yuk!!. Service to the room, again was exceptional, we requested a single bed and had it delivered to the room with 5 minutes with a gracious smile. Location - So handy to all forms of public transport and walks around the Rocks and Circular Quay area and the Rocks Market precinct - we will be back!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Noisy Rooms situated next to bar and restaurant"
It was noisy as the room was directly adjacent the restaurant and bar. Be prepared for a late night sleep otherwise you have to deal with noise coming though the walls and the door. On the Saturday night it didn't stop until late in the wee hours.Genuine Expedia guest review

Unfortunately the Sydney Harbour Foreshore declined our request to double glaze the windows during the redevelopment, on heritage restrictions. I am aware, that in such a busy area, this is a serious issue and I have been in discussions with them in order to implement some kind of sound minimization works. They have been fairly sympathetic to our request, so hopefully a resolution should be shortly forthcoming. I apologize for the inconvenience this caused. Perfect short stay hotel, in the centre of Sydney close to most attractions. Beautifully renovated and presented it made a perfect base for our weekend break. The views from the room epitomised Sydney. The hotel was comfortable and opulent without being brash and 'over the top' I would definitely recommend to family and friends.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Style, Awesome Ammenities"
Style and location are the two top features of this hotel. It combines older architecture with a tasteful, modern aesthetic, creating a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and since I requested a quiet room away from the streets, I had some of the best sleep during my stay in Oz. The bathroom fixtures were terrific; […] the shower was instantly hot and the rain style shower head was excellent. I highly recommend you use the supplied shampoo as well. Another awesome feature is they do later room service, so if you head out late, you'll still come back to a made up room. Word of warning: there is no lift. There is a small utility lift for luggage only, so if you have trouble with stairs, either request a bottom floor room or look elsewhere. I found this to be a quaint, cool feature of the hotel, though, so I don't count it as a negative. The one negative is that there is no air conditioning in the hallways. As it was early May, it only reached mid 20's outside, but the hallway was already quite hot and humid. The air conditioning in the room worked great, though, so it didn't affect the comfort of the stay. Overall, I'd highly recommend to anyone staying in The Rocks area and will likely stay here again next time I'm down under. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exceptional Service by Staff and Great facility."
Arriving at the hotel early and with my partner unwell and health deteriorating, they were extremely obliging and gave us use of all facilities hours before the designated time with an upgrade given at a very reasonable price. Later in the day staff were only too willing to assist with additional room service to us (even pointing us in the direction […] to get additional services from another facility). Restaurant service excellent. We can certainly recommend them to all 'as a friendly, helpful and courteous team' with great room facilities and so centrally located in 'The Rocks' area - naturally we will be going there again when next in Sydney. "Fantastic boutique hotel - would stay again."
Nice boutique hotel in top location. rooms were on the small side but quite adequate for our 3 night weekend. We stayed in room 305, and although there was a bit of air con noise during the day, we found it relatively quiet at night and didn't notice any street noise. Nice comfy beds and I would stay there again as close to everything including lovely […] places to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner close by and so close to circular quay and the opera house. Room was very noisy and small and minimal options for food in the restaurant. The main problem is that on the web site it looked good but in real life it was disappointing. A great little hotel located 2 minutes walk from Circular Quay (direct trains to the airport and rest of the city), and 10 minutes stroll from the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House - perfect if like me you are short on time and want to see and do as much as possible. It has many sophisticated designer touches and histroci features that make is a fascinating place to stay. "Location 5 hotel 0"
The only good thing going for this hotel is the location and if you sleep on the street you've got the same benefit. The hotel had recently been refurbished. the muddy brown colour is the worst choice for the poor excuse box of a room. the next morning we asked to move rooms as our window was right above an extractor fan and sounded like a plane taking […] off all night. Our air con broke the second night and the windows didn't even shut never mind be double glazed which is quite important in the middle of Sydney. My advice would be pay a little more or walk that extra few minutes. Do not stop in this poor excuse of a hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Our very pleasant stay at Harbour Rocks Hotel"
The location, very good, not a busy city street with lots of traffic, a nice place to stroll to and from. The friendly, polite and helpful staff made our stay a very good experience. Yes, our room was small but it had every concenience and it was very comfortable. It would be my first preference /choice for accommodation when next I go to Sydney.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The position of the hotel, the room and the staff were excellent. Unfortunately the hotel was being modernised and we were woken early by the workmen. It was also very noisy in the evenings as it is situated in a busy area. Double glazing on the windows would have helped or a room at the back of the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review

It is located in the Rocks area and just 5 minutes from the Opera house and the Sydney Bridge. There are plenity of restaurants and pubs near the hotel. It may be a little bit noisy. Our room had great views to the Opera house and the bridge. There is no lift but there are only two floors. If you like boutique hotels you will love it
"Great location and staff, but too noisy"
12/08/13 PhilC283 Seattle, Washington
This hotel is right in the middle of the action in Sydney harbour. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. We were given a ground floor room facing the back, which it was claimed would be quiet. The desk person even claimed the rooms had double windows, so the noise would be minimal. However, the room was above the restaurant and the alley, which led to much excessive noise (vacuuming, rowdy party-goers) till about 1AM. And, the room did not have double glazing. In fact, the window did not close properly. Be forewarned, bring your ear plugs. Finally, the room was quite small. Phil C
"Wonderful Hotel in Perfect Location"
12/08/13 Sandra W Chessington, United Kingdom
We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights before joining a cruise up to Cairns. The location was ideal as the cruise terminal was 5 minutes away so we didn't have far to drag our cases. It was also the perfect location for the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Circular Quays was also nearby which was handy for ferries and restaurants. As it is a smaller boutique hotel, we found it more intimate and the staff were very pleasant and attentive. We were on the third floor and the room was on the road side . However, we were not disturbed at all even though we thought this may be a problem. Lovely room and very spacious and clean. Restaurant food nice as well and we especially liked "happy hour" in the bar! This was our first trip to Australia and Sydney was one of the highlights. Thanks so much for making us feel so welcome. We would certainly recommend this hotel and if we do go back to Sydney we will certainly stay again.
"A beautiful boutique hotel in a great location"
Title of review says it all - I would recommend this hotel - charming restrained design and intimately scaled. Rooms are not large but its within a heritage building so there are compromises in scale to capture the historical character of the structure which blends fittingly with the surrounding Rocks precinct. Well appointed and discrete yet friendly and accommodating staff
"Good position but very noisy"
11/27/13 Mike H Birmingham, United Kingdom
We stayed at the hotel for a week. It is in a great position for all the sights of Sydney. However, it is in a very noisy area (extractor fans, air conditioning and traffic to name but a few. Sadly there is no double glazing (not in keeping with the building I guess) so if you are a light sleeper this probably not the place for you. That said, sleep deprivation aside we really enjoyed the hotel and its origins.
11/18/13 Jen7ify Oxford, United Kingdom
We chose this hotel as it was right in the centre of the historical Rocks, & it didn't disappoint. We were worried it might be a little noisy, but no such trouble & we were lucky to have a small view of the Opera House (when the cruise ship had sailed for the day). Our room was lovely with a comfortable bed. Slightly lacking in cupboard space if you wanted to unpack, but bright, good air con & nice. The bathroom was functional-had everything required & clean, but unimaginatively standard white & compared to the rest of the beautifully restored building, not quite up to the mark (although had nice comp toiletries). We only had breakfast once in the hotel. It was good and as expected from a hotel of this calibre, but we enjoyed venturing out to the many individual cafes to be found in the locale for brekkie. All in all, great & would def return.

I stayed here with my girlfriend for a long weekend away in October. We found the hotel by accident when we were walking around the Rocks one afternoon and went in for a few drinks. It is a lovely old building from the outside but has been done up on the inside and is very easy on the eye. The bar is facing the street so you can just walk in and your in the hotel. The service was very friendly so we decided to stay when we next had a weekend free. We booked online through wotif and found the price a bit high but all hotels in the Rocks were. We were there for the long weekend and found the Rocks to be very busy and lots happening. There were markets on the Friday Saturday and Sunday and by night all the pubs and bars were full. We were never short of anything to do even catching a ferry over to Manly, only my second time. We found everything to be five minutes away so we found the hotel to be in a great location. The bar even has happy hour so we drank there before heading out and the staff were nice. We love the Rocks and will be back as soon as the prices go down or we can afford it, which ever comes first.
"Wonderful Stay a the HRH..."
11/14/13 Mixrg San Francisco
We visited Sydney mid-October and the HRH turned out to b a wonderful choice. After an overnight flight from the States we were lucky enough to have our room available upon arrival. The historic designation for the building does present some challenges when providing a modern hotel experience but I think the HRH was very well done (no lift, so if you are on the upper floor be ready for a few stairs.) There is a luggage lift though which helps with check-in/check-out. Our room was small but very well appointed and comfortable. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom, while compact, did deliver. The shower was surprisingly roomy and had a great rain spout shower head. The only issue was the small shelf over the sink. I konked my head on it at first but then adjusted. Ouch. Great staff, very helpful! Breakfast was also extremely satisfying. The location cannot be beat either. An easy walk to the Circular Quay, Opera House, Harbor Bridge and surrounding establishments (The Glenmore, Pony, Le Renaissance Patisserie, etc.) Weekend events in the surrounding area also made for an exciting stay (street vendors and food). Easy access to ferries and public transportation to see other city sights and excursions.

Stayed 4 nights for part business part holiday. Very clean, comfortable and great service. Excellent Rocks location, close to everything including transport, food, entertainment. Good in-house food and bar. Standard rooms are very compact but adequate. Friendly and very helpful staff. You need to like stairs, there's no lift.
