Location was excellent. Within walking distance to Oktoberfest and the marienplatz square. Very near the train station which was nice because I had a 6am train to catch. However, my a/c did not work. I advised the hotel and was gone the entire day only to return to find it still had not been fixed. I had to sleep with the window open which was terrible because my room faced a street with a Hostel. The Hostel was loud and I was awakened each morning by street sweepers and garbage trucks.

The hotel was very nice, with a nice lounge in the lobby area. The rooms were clean and roomy. The beds were comfortable. The fitness room had nice equipment (Life Fitness) but both pieces needed some service. The worked, but were loud. The hotel is near the central train station, which is convenient but not quite in the middle of things (Marienplatz). The surrounding area is decent but certainly not high end. The hotel is offset a block from a main street, so it is quiet and more private. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay. Now that we know Munich a little better, we may choose to stay next time closer to the center of town, but for the money we could do a lot worse than Maritim.

The price was extremely reasonable for the area and the summer season, so we were not expecting much. The hotel far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were a good size by european standards, comfortable and very clean. We loved the pool and sauna, as did the children. It was beautifully maintained. The lobby was modest and we didn't try the restuarant (hugely expensive for breakfast). We loved being close to the train station, with so many options for high quality, modestly priced options of all types (italian, german, kabab). The location was convenient to either walk to the old city or jump on the train. The other nice option, being a block from the central station meant it was easy to find our way home, if we got lost or tired. Other reviews noted the "red light" district. Yes, there were signs for strip clubs, but no one pulling folks in, no women on the streets. It really wasn't an issue for us with our children.

The hotel is ideally situated virtually across the road from the main train station. Entering the foyer makes quite a good impression and the staff are quite friendly. Unfortunately the hotel bedrooms are seriously in need of redecoration and the interior design reflects the age of the hotel. We did not eat at the hotel as the €18 for breakfast can be skipped by feasting at the train station for a third of the cost. The swimming pool is also deceptively bigger in the photos but is clean and the facilities are quite good. I'd still recommend the hotel as a place to sleep - the town center is a 10min walk away.

The hotel was very nice and our room was comfortable, but our room was opposite a youth hostel. When we tried to sleep with the window open at night (fan was very noisy, so we tried for fresh air), the noise from the youth hostel was too loud. People congregated in front of the youth hostel, so (even though it appeared that there was a curfew)the noise level was like a big party. I would recommend asking for a room on the other side of the hotel. Other than that, I thought it was great value for the money.

We came in on the train from Frankfurt, and also did a couple of day trips via train. The fact that this hotel was merely steps to the station was a huge plus. It was also just a 10-15 minute walk to the Marienplatz, which has great dining and shopping options. The world famous Hofbrauhaus is nearby as well. The rooms were nice; nothing fancy, but it served our needs. The only drawback is that there is no air conditioning, so we had to sleep with the windows open which was a bit warm and also a little noisy from outside traffic, not a huge deal though. The service was excellent. The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful and spoke clear English. We would definitely reccomend this hotel.

The hotel is a great deal in a very central location. You are a minute walk from the Central Rail station and a 10min walk to dowtown and all the shopping centers. Good Local food stalls all around. The only thing that might keep you away are the sex shops and strip club next door, but I can assure there are no shady people around and it was very safe to come back late at night. If you arrive from the airport a taxi will cost you 70 euro, instead take the train wich is only 9 euro.

Comfortable room. I slept in the first morning because of jet lag and the maids never came back to make up the room. Lots of places to eat in the area. Skipped the over-priced breakfast (though it is usually very good in Darmstadt where I get it included in the room rate). Fifteen euros per day for internet is high but typical for European hotels. I planned a weekend in Munich during an extended business trip and the Maritim Hotel seemed to be the perfect choice. I was not disappointed. The hotel which is hidden away down a little path was very grand and comfortable. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and included a nice bath rather than a shower which is more typical of other hotels I have stayed at in Germany. The hotel also has a pool and gym, though I did not get the chance to use these facilities. Breakfast was a very grand affair with an extensive mixed buffet. My only slight critism was that at €20 per head it was quite expensive with the UK pound being so weak. Overall an excellent hotel which will not disappoint.

The Maritim Hotel in Munich, located directly across from the main train station, is well worth a look. Ignore the strip bar on the same block, never once was there any noise or "shady" characters around the area. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel rooftop pool and sauna is a gem. Staff is courteous and the beer garden is convenient when you don't want to walk anywhere. Couples dancing at the piano bar was also nice. You don't need to buy breakfast, as there is a fruit stand right on the corner, and across the street at the train station are so many food choices it's hard to decide what to eat! There are always fresh pretzels from the stand right out front, too. I would stay there again for it's price, convenience and amenities.
